Yesterday I went to reach for a piece of paper that fell under the drivers seat and relized that my carpet was wet, i went to look and i had a puddle, i think I might have gone into a small puddle that day, but it was the day after it rained, no trail for the door to the puddle either it seemed, to seep in through the bottom or somewhere else.
View 23 RepliesToday I noticed a wet carpet in my wagon(floor behind driver seat) and I know that my bro washed it for me last week, so how it got wet. He takes really good care of our cars and he's confused also. I just got back from a long trip. BTW it is water, and not coolant.
View 10 RepliesAll- Yesterday i had the car in a driveway (incline of ~5Degree). I gave the car a nice wash (both above and under the car and got it in the garage so that i can wax it. removing the rear carpets (both Driver and pass side) i saw it being damp..
Pulled out the carpet and the rear of the car(see pics) was soaking wet. there was absolute no water in the driver and passenger well. I am not able to figure of the reason. Also the temperature is ~50 in Michigan so have not used the A/c for almost a month..
This is what i have done:
Looked at all the seals (the ones visible)- looked ok.
Took a horse and gave a nice under body wash.. no water came up
Checked the sunroof.. the sides of the seat were not wet (I think no water came from there)
All the door moulding, dry..
Am I missing some seals.. or am I overlooking something.
In April of this year I had a large amount of water in the rear passenger area..Long story short it was the pollen filter..Dealership got it covered with my extended warranty, but yet I had to pay 1200.00 to replace the carpet..They also replaced the Control unit?? Wiring harness and housing...So, now fast forward to 2 days ago. I had a FLOOD in the rear DRIVER seat this time.I called to let them know and they said to bring it in Monday for emergency appt..My plan was to drop it off Sunday evening..during the night of rain we had Saturday I hear a god awful noise at 4 Am..My car is all lit up in orange lights.We had to disc the battery to stop the noise and lights..later that morning we got the wet-vac and hooked up the battery again. It started fine, but then all the lights went crazy and everything got all whacked out.
My trunk no longer closes...so we disc the battery and call AAA to tow to dealer..They just called me now..of course they need it for a day or 2 to determine the problem and see if it is covered! it damn well better be..they got it covered last time. I am beyond irate at this point. No doubt the car is in the same condition as before...main computer is obviously screwed up again..If they think I am paying 1 penny they are sadly mistaken..twice in 2 months?? Something is definitely hinky here..last time before they determined it was the pollen filter, they told me they cleared all drainage area and ruled out all that so they can't tell me that was the problem this time..They can't get clogged in 2 months when for the past 5 years I have NEVER had this issue.
In my 07 ES350 I had water on the carpet of the drives side all the way to the backseat! I was gone for a coupla days when this happened and with the heat it sure did have a musky odor when I opened the door!
I have looked all around the sunroof and cleaned the edges could not see anything that would leak although under the sunroof at the front there was water in the tray.
Then I looked all around the windshield. Could not see anything that could cause a leak. Lightly hosed off the car today and had water dripping down the driver side pillar and the covering for the pillar was wet.
This car has never had a leak anywhere until now. Gonna have to have the carpet removed and steam cleaned I guess to get rid of the odor, but not until I stop the leak!!!!
I have a 2001 B5.5 passat saloon and I'm getting water in the trunk, damp carpet and water in the spare wheel well. It seems to be mainly on the left side (as you look into the trunk) I've checked the rear light seals and can't find any evidence of a leak, where else should I look?
View 2 RepliesThere is water sound under dash. I read about clogged drain so I tried sticking up a thin rod from drain line and gets stopped after some length. Should I force it up (push, hit harder) or will that break something? Is there a angle bend?
I did not get a water leak on carpet yet but the sound is getting more so more water collecting? What should I do next?
I have a 2009 Tiguan and after my car sat out overnight in a heavy rain I noticed a very odd thing today. Like normal the car smelled a little musty, something I've gotten used to after a rain. But I think I've found the cause. I hit my brakes hard to try to stop the squeakiness (another normal quirk after the rain) and I heard water running in the back seat. I looked back and saw water running on the floor beneath the passenger back seat. I hit the brakes hard again while looking back and watched it pour out of the other side beneath the plastic strip beneath the seat. I pulled over and looked and there are these little black channels underneath there where I believe the water came from. What are those and where is that water originating from? Is this normal?!
View 2 RepliesSo the other day i found a lake on the floor behind the drivers seat. Everywhere else is dry but there. A few days prior I got tapped by a ram enough to crack my rear bumper on the drivers side. I am wondering if the water came in through the crack? Everything is dry though under the spare tire . I know there's vents on the sides behind the bumper, but I don't think I got hit hard enough or at the right angle to bust a seal on the vents. I also blew air through the sunroof drains and they were all clear. Windows were closed and all doors were closed when it rained.
View 8 RepliesWater is getting into my car (1995 Accord LX) somewhere around the driver and back seat door. This causes the carpet on the driver's floor and back seat on the driver side to be wet. It only happens when it rains, so I think its a broken seal, or water is not draining properly.
I've tried spraying water on the car to see if I can figure out where its getting in, but no luck.
After heavy rains there has been water on the floor behind the drivers seat or down by the pedals (depending on how the car is parked). Is this the result of a bad door seal? It definitely seems to be coming in around the door.

I blamed my kid for this but now I'm not sure. one day she had her water bottle laying on the floor. She picked it up. A few days later I noticed the whole floor behind my seat is soaking wet. Including the mat. I soaked up everything. I'm pretty sure its dry. Patting with a paper towel was dry. We had heavy rain for three days. And behind the driver seat its all wet. Not the mat, but under it. carpet is wet. I dried it up as best as I could but a few days later it's wet again.
The water bottle holds almost a liter of water and I don't know how much spilled. So I can't figure out if its the bottle or not. Like maybe all the water i'm soaking is on the carpet and some of the padding then after a while, water for the surrounding padding is coming up to the surface.
I checked my a/c tube, its clear. I can see water dripping under my car. I don't know where the tubes are for the sunroof. Are they behind the driver seat? Where does it drip outside?
We just 3-inches of rain in 12-hour period and got some water on rug in front of driver seat but standing water to the rear of the drivers seat. We had this problem before and blew out the leaves and debris underneath the screen type cover that runs the width of the front window along the bottom of the window.
View 5 RepliesThe wife's 2008 Prius has apparently been collecting water on the driver side (front and back) floors for some time. Allegedly, it doesn't have to be raining, or even wet outdoors at all for it to accumulate. The fluid is not engine coolant or windshield washer fluid; clear, colorless, and tasteless (yeah, I did taste it) liquid, totally saturating, and partially filling the floor pans on the left side, while leaving the area directly under the driver seat dry. There seems to be some dampness on the passenger rear carpet, but it's nothing like the driver's side. The undercarriage has plastic shielding of some sort covering the areas of the floor where the water has built up, so I can't immediately see any drain plugs, or holes where water may be coming in. Before I start tearing things apart, I thought I would run the strange problems through the forum, and see what you all might come up with. I've seen some reports of possible A/C drain issues in the passenger front floor, but this is definitely left side. Oh, yeah....there's a stink along with it, but I'm assuming that may be mold caused by the standing water, or something totally unrelated; but I thought it bore mentioning.

After a heavy rain, sometimes but not always, water will drip from the front driver pillar and more recently from the roof immediately adjacent to the sunglasses holder. This happens usually after a turn or acceleration/ deceleration, i.e. when water trapped in the roof somewhere gets to slosh around. Before asking dealer to look into this (which I imagine will be expensive and not definitely rewarding),

View 14 RepliesMy area has been hammered by rain for the past several weeks and I've noticed water leaking in around my driver's side headliner and down my column. I suspect it is the moonroof drain hole that is causing the problem, but when I pour water into the hole it drains out of the bottom of the car like it should be.
I want to check the drain nipple under the column trim to see if the hose is damaged there and leaking, but I'm not sure how to remove it. I've read about the Sante Fe trim removal and it sounds like you should just be able to pull on it from the top and work your way down, but I want to check as I don't want to start breaking clips to "test" out if it works.
Is the column held in by friction clips that should come loose if I pull with enough pressure toward the rear-view mirror?

Wife was driving in heavy rain and noticed water dripping from above the parking brake.
When she got home took a quick look and noticed moisture around the fuse box that sits just above the parking brake.
Assume a seal somewhere is bad. Did some searching but only got hits for passenger side leaks and AC drain hose.
Next step is a trip to the dealer to diagnose.
