View 1 RepliesI have a 2004 Passat GLS and I've noticed from time to time (and again tonight) that there's water on the floor on the passenger side in the back row. There is a vent under that floor mat so I suspect it has something to do with it, but beyond that I'm stumped. I've only noticed standing water once, and that was after a heavy downpour. But tonight the mat is pretty wet and we haven't had rain for a while. I just dropped a ton of dough on new coils and plugs so I'm hoping this isn't anything serious.
View 12 RepliesSo the other day i found a lake on the floor behind the drivers seat. Everywhere else is dry but there. A few days prior I got tapped by a ram enough to crack my rear bumper on the drivers side. I am wondering if the water came in through the crack? Everything is dry though under the spare tire . I know there's vents on the sides behind the bumper, but I don't think I got hit hard enough or at the right angle to bust a seal on the vents. I also blew air through the sunroof drains and they were all clear. Windows were closed and all doors were closed when it rained.
View 8 RepliesAll- Yesterday i had the car in a driveway (incline of ~5Degree). I gave the car a nice wash (both above and under the car and got it in the garage so that i can wax it. removing the rear carpets (both Driver and pass side) i saw it being damp..
Pulled out the carpet and the rear of the car(see pics) was soaking wet. there was absolute no water in the driver and passenger well. I am not able to figure of the reason. Also the temperature is ~50 in Michigan so have not used the A/c for almost a month..
This is what i have done:
Looked at all the seals (the ones visible)- looked ok.
Took a horse and gave a nice under body wash.. no water came up
Checked the sunroof.. the sides of the seat were not wet (I think no water came from there)
All the door moulding, dry..
Am I missing some seals.. or am I overlooking something.
I have something really strange that has happened to me... two days ago I noticed a small puddle of water in the back off my Prius on the floor behind the passenger seat. There is absolutely no water anyway else..I've thoroughly searched. I dried it up as much as I can but it seems to continue to get wet - not to the extent it was the first time I saw it, but when I press down with my hand I can hear water in the carpet. I've used a wet vac to suck up as much as I can... but I come back and it is still wet again.... What could be leaking... again.. absolutely nothing else is wet.. and nothing could have spilled that would have produced that much water.
View 7 RepliesAfter heavy rains there has been water on the floor behind the drivers seat or down by the pedals (depending on how the car is parked). Is this the result of a bad door seal? It definitely seems to be coming in around the door.

I blamed my kid for this but now I'm not sure. one day she had her water bottle laying on the floor. She picked it up. A few days later I noticed the whole floor behind my seat is soaking wet. Including the mat. I soaked up everything. I'm pretty sure its dry. Patting with a paper towel was dry. We had heavy rain for three days. And behind the driver seat its all wet. Not the mat, but under it. carpet is wet. I dried it up as best as I could but a few days later it's wet again.
The water bottle holds almost a liter of water and I don't know how much spilled. So I can't figure out if its the bottle or not. Like maybe all the water i'm soaking is on the carpet and some of the padding then after a while, water for the surrounding padding is coming up to the surface.
I checked my a/c tube, its clear. I can see water dripping under my car. I don't know where the tubes are for the sunroof. Are they behind the driver seat? Where does it drip outside?
We have a 2000 Toyota Echo and am having a recurring problem. I have had no luck with the dealership or other mechanic’s. We don’t drive it a whole lot maybe once or twice a week, we usually take my truck. I continually find water standing on top of the engine where the coils and plugs are (it is water not coolant) and the water finds its way into #1 cylinder. I have replaced the gasket on the engine compartment, checked the drain hose from the ac, I even put a little gasket material on the metal cover that covers the top where the coils are. Where the water is coming from and how do I stop it before I buy new coils and plugs?
View 1 RepliesSo I got in to my car today to goto school and noticed it smelled kinda musky. I happened to look behind the passenger side seat and there was 3in. of water on the floor so i looked up at the sunroof and there wasn't any stains or anything from water as well as the doors windows everything... It's the strangest thing I've seen the only thing wet is on the floor...
View 4 RepliesWe just 3-inches of rain in 12-hour period and got some water on rug in front of driver seat but standing water to the rear of the drivers seat. We had this problem before and blew out the leaves and debris underneath the screen type cover that runs the width of the front window along the bottom of the window.
View 5 RepliesWater is getting into my car (1995 Accord LX) somewhere around the driver and back seat door. This causes the carpet on the driver's floor and back seat on the driver side to be wet. It only happens when it rains, so I think its a broken seal, or water is not draining properly.
I've tried spraying water on the car to see if I can figure out where its getting in, but no luck.
I have 95 Crown Victoria and every time it rains water leaks into the back seat so I checked the condencer drain and it was not clogged ...
View 2 RepliesWhere could this be coming from?? i don't notice any leaks or watermarks on anything else... b5.5 wagon...
View 4 RepliesWe got hit with some crazy rain about a month ago. My CCM was flooded and badly damaged, replaced it and it cranked a few times. had LOTS of frayed wires which I've cleaned up and replaced. unfortunately, I'm afraid that may have damaged the ecu.
Now I get a 17953 (throttle valve regulation malfunction) from vag-com. Would that problem keep the engine from turning over?
When I turn the key i get an obnoxious chime. I didn't get a response when i queried the immobilizer though i thought that might be the problem because when it was cranking, it would run less that 2 seconds then stop. Maybe still some bad wires, maybe a bad ecu, I'm not taking it to the dealer so it can just sit in the driveway and rot if it's not gonna run for me.
After it rains, the passenger side of my car fills up with water. I assume the drain wholes are clogged. Where they're located?
It is a 2007 2.0T FWD if that matters.....
Recently my 2013 Hyundai Elantra was subject to a hit and run. It is a new car with less than 2000 miles on it since October 2013. There was 9K in damage, most of which pertained to the back driver's side and the axle. Bumper, quarter panel, trunk floor, axle, wheel bearings, and two rims had to be replaced. Plus incidentals like tail lights and such. Because this is a new car, I received all new parts as a replacement. When the car was returned to me, the back seat kept getting wet in the rain.
After taking back to the shop twice, they finally diagnosed a small hole in the seal in a seam of the quarter panel area---something must have happened when putting everything back together. The door is fine and there is no moon / sun roof on the vehicle. I do not completely understand what this means. I know some basics about cars, but not to this level of detail. I searched by topic area and couldn't find anything that was related to this type of reason for water in the car.
Have the following questions: How a small hole in a quarter panel area would cause water to get into the back seat (on seat and floor)? What would be good things to watch out for post-fix? It is still a bit damp and rainy here, so I can't open the windows for things to dry out. Would have been nice for the collision center to dry the seats. How can I make sure mold/mildew won't develop?
I left my car sitting for a while. After the rainy month we had, the rear floor behind the driver seat was soaked. it looked like there was a gallon of water. now everytime it rains there is a pool in the back. I checked the doors, windows sunroof, etc. all good.
View 4 RepliesMy only car is a 2002 passat 1.8 .
I've had a water leak in the passenger side floor. This started when my sound system was installed. So I've been dealing with it. Vacuuming out the water and driving. Recently A LOT of water leaked in. Now the car won't start and the doors won't lock. I read about this issue before. What to do. The dealer wants to charge me $210 just to look at it and hook it to a machine. Then if the issue runs me more than a few hundred. That's just over budget. I need to fix this issue.
So our Passat seems to have developed a leak from somewhere. Even while parked, water seems to pool on the rear passenger floor. The passenger front and driver's side front and rear are both dry. Does this sound like it could possibly be one of the sunroof drains being clogged? Only reason I'm skeptical is because the front floor is perfectly dry. I haven't pulled it up yet, but the rear floor is literally "squishy" with water.
Again this happens when the car is parked, so it doesn't seem like it has anything to do with the AC system. I'm unsure about the cabin air filter, because if that were the culprit I would think the front would be wet too.
Is there a known issue with water getting into the passenger side(floor) of the Passat sedans? Is the leak due to the sunroof?
