2001 Passat Wagon ... After a heavy rain last night I noticed a very wet driver side floor area. My car was parked and I've never noticed any wetness while driving. What are the steps to take to figure out where the leak is?
View 6 RepliesOur '99 Explorer leaks when it rains. The water drips from under the dash on the driver's side floor. A while back a dealership put all sorts of sealant around the windshield gasket and that seemed to work for a while.
Where are the drains for the door channels, windshield and the air intake where the windshield wipers are connected? I'd like to make sure they are clear.
In my 07 ES350 I had water on the carpet of the drives side all the way to the backseat! I was gone for a coupla days when this happened and with the heat it sure did have a musky odor when I opened the door!
I have looked all around the sunroof and cleaned the edges could not see anything that would leak although under the sunroof at the front there was water in the tray.
Then I looked all around the windshield. Could not see anything that could cause a leak. Lightly hosed off the car today and had water dripping down the driver side pillar and the covering for the pillar was wet.
This car has never had a leak anywhere until now. Gonna have to have the carpet removed and steam cleaned I guess to get rid of the odor, but not until I stop the leak!!!!
When we have a heavy rain water leaks in on both sides saturating the floor board.
View 2 RepliesMy two month old Touareg has a leak! After driving in a heavy rain water accumulated on the front passenger floor. It looks like its coming from the ventilation duct behind the glove box or possibly through the firewall.
View 3 RepliesIt's from rain, but only getting to the front passenger floor area. And this just started in the last month. Decades ago I had a VW Rabbit that would get serious water, in all 4 quadrants, in rain or a car wash. But I figured that one out, the "gutter" in front of the windshield was jammed up with dead leaves, once those were cleared, no more water coming in.
So, when this Avalon leak appeared, that was the first area I checked. There was a bit of leaves and twigs, which I cleared away, but the worst of it was on the drivers's side and as I mentioned, no problem there.
It seems rain is coming into the passenger floor area. When I have checked the bottom windshield area I have notice that some rubber/plastic line is not inserted all the way but cant be inserted. Accent 2006....

When there is heavy rain, I end up with extremely damp carpets in the driver's side. There is also water which looks as though it has leaked from running do the driver's side of the windscreen.
I have a strong suspicion that there is a leak in the windscreen, down the driver's side or at the bottom, but are there any other locations or suggestions that could be causing the leak ?
Also, if I take it in, is it possible just to replace the seal round the windscreen, or will the whole windscreen need to be replaced ?
We had a big rain storm the other night and I didn't drive my car today. So I get in after I get home and notice a god damn flood on my driver side front floor I made sure the drains in the rain tray were clear the other night when I first got the car. Is this more than likely coming from the sunroof drain? I ran some water down the sunroof drain while it was open and it seemed to come out. The water looked to be coming from where the hood release is as there were a few drips right below it.

View 3 RepliesI just got a new Passat (2007) on May 19, less than 2 months ago as of this posting. I love the car, but whenever it rains, or following rain, I have a problem with water dripping down into the driver's side whenever I have the window cracked open. At first I thought, No big deal. However, now my right rear power window and the safety lock to all the windows has stopped working.
BUT...I opened my mouth and mentioned the water problem, to which the Service Advisor responded, "I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear that." This suggests to me that, possibly, the dealership would try to screw me otherwise and say that the window failed because of water (an OUTSIDE influence)...Thus far, my local dealership (and the Service Advisor) have been top-notch.
First of all, is it possible that they'll try to say I should've had my window completely up during rain, and therefore water shorted out the switch? My argument (if it comes to that) is that even several hours after rainfall, water from the roof drips into the car, and some gets on the armrest where the controls are located. Am I in for a showdown? I would think that the buttons would be sealed to prevent water from affecting the electronics underneath.
My only car is a 2002 passat 1.8 .
I've had a water leak in the passenger side floor. This started when my sound system was installed. So I've been dealing with it. Vacuuming out the water and driving. Recently A LOT of water leaked in. Now the car won't start and the doors won't lock. I read about this issue before. What to do. The dealer wants to charge me $210 just to look at it and hook it to a machine. Then if the issue runs me more than a few hundred. That's just over budget. I need to fix this issue.
I have a B5.5 passat 1.8t and i have now had about a gallon in a half of water on the floor behind my seat. Why this is happening.?
View 1 RepliesAfter heavy rains there has been water on the floor behind the drivers seat or down by the pedals (depending on how the car is parked). Is this the result of a bad door seal? It definitely seems to be coming in around the door.
View 17 RepliesMy 1999 F150 Supercab has developed a water leak which I would like to ask your opinions on. Parked on a 20 degree incline during a pouring rain yesterday, I came out to find a small puddle in the driver's side rear floor corner and about an ounce of water pooled in a little lip at the bottom of the rear window in the right corner of the window! Haven't started tearing anything apart yet (and might not be able to myself), but it seems that it is possibly the rear window seal as the window and the outside body area appear to be in good shape otherwise (no visible rust, no seal obviously dislocated, etc).
Also, don't know if it's related, the other day I jacked up the truck with a floor jack under the front crossmember but a bit off center which caused the truck to twist a bit before both wheels came off the ground. While doing this, I heard and felt a loud bang like something broke in the frame! Couldn't see anything out of place and something similar has happened before where a lug of the jack cup had shifted slightly while jacking the vehicle and it caused a loud bang to be heard, but this time it didn't quite feel like it was at the jack but further back.
Could something have "broken" in the truck that I can't quite see and thus this leak has occurred which wasn't there previously or could it just be coincidence that the bang and leak occurred so close in time to each other. I know it's hard to diagnose something like this without seeing the vehicle or really know what happened but I just had to put it out there as part of the events that occurred within the timeline for this leak.
When it rains or snows, the floor only of my 86 Civic Si hatchback ends up soaked, sometimes standing water. There is no visible leak anywhere, no water leaking in anywhere obvious. It's just the floor, the water seems to come up from beneath the carpet. Replaced windshield, didn't work. The car is otherwise in great shape, I bought in new in 1986.
View 5 RepliesMy dad just brought home his new 98 Passat V6 wagon! So were washing it for the first time, and he notices that the rain tray is missing. no big deal.
But we also found that there is water pooling up in the drain tray area on the driver's side. Its way back in the corner. Drivers side, right in the corner of the firewall.
Where the drain plugs are around there? I have the Bentley manual, but thought someone out there might have a readily available answer.
I just got some condensation in my driver side tail light.... It just rained heavily and then I washed it BC I just got the opti coat done.... Wanted to see the opi work!!!! Anyways now I have this condensation....I have the dark cherry red non led.... I have the JL stealthbox installed... Never happened before had the car about a year now?
