I know that the air injection system is supposed to kick on during a cold start, which it does, but i get the check engine code that it has "incorrect flow"...... What could this be?!
View 2 RepliesAbout a month ago the "Check VSC" warning came on in my 2006 GS300 AWD. This happened after the car was in the garage all night and when I started the car in the morning. The car was at the dealer for 2 days and the saved codes showed multiple errors for the evap system, but they couldn't find anything specifically wrong and the light warning went off after all the systems checked out.
A week later the warning came on again, and the codes indicated incorrect purge flow and a gross leak. After 3 days in the shop they decided that the problem was caused by a faulty gas cap, which was replaced. You guessed it! A week later the warning came on AGAIN! I'm taking the car to the shop on Thursday. I'm really getting tired of driving my car 40 miles to the dealer just to have the warning show up again in another week!
I cleaned my k&n air filter on my 02 passat 1.8 turbo let it dry oiled it very lightly, and 50 miles later I get a check engine light on, pulled the code 16486 and it says Mass or Volume Air Flow Circ Low Input. Cleared the code put a frame in until I can get it filter. Why that would throw me that code, k&n oil gumming up my sensor??
View 2 RepliesBought a Mk4 1.8T gti last year had only about 75,000 on it and drove it for about 10,000 miles. The check engine light went on about 2 months ago and the code read 3rd gear incorrect ratio. It still rode fine until about a week ago when it started slipping. Brought it to the local transmission guys in my town and got a quote at about $3,000-$3,500 to have the transmission rebuilt. The transmission is a tiptronic automatic 6-speed.

I checked my gas cap, lines that run from motor to the gas tank and the purge flow that's under the intake. Can't figure out what is exactly going on. And it has 53k miles and runs just fine...

The EGR valve and tube from the exhaust manifold were replaced, the wiring harness verified, the passage channel between the EGR valve and the intake manifold cleaned out...but the check engine light remains... what to try next?
View 12 RepliesI was going to look into getting a replacement EGR valve from AutoZone, which I did. After installing the valve and on my way to reset the check engine light, it went away and has not come back.
View 1 RepliesI have an 01 Explorer Sportrac with a 4.0, 105,000 milles. Got the check engine light with the EGR low flow code. I get this code about once a year and a new DPFE usually takes care of it. I get the sensor from Advanced Auto which explains the short life I am guessing. Last time i replaced the sensor the light came back on a couple weeks later.
After highway driving smoke starts pouring freon under the hood, passenger side, but by the time I get the hood opened its done. Cant tell where it is coming from. Could a faulty DPFE cause the smoke or do you think the EGR valve may be sticking? I was going to try a Ford DPFE this time but I hate to just throw parts at it. Where do the smoke is coming out of, air filter box????? cant see anything else over there related to the EGR system......
I found out today that the 2012 6.7 that I have purchased used with 30, 500 Miles on it a month ago has been in previously for warranty work. It appears that the previous owner took it in with a check engine light and after diagnostics found that the EGR cooler had "no Flow". Ford replaced the EGR cooler core under warranty before I bought it. (It now has 31, 950 on it). Normally I would think, GREAT, something I don't have to worry about doing. But being new to the diesel world, I was just wondering if this is something I should be concerned with. Anything else I should be keeping an eye on etc.... Also is this abnormal to occur with such low mileage?
View 14 RepliesMy check engine light keeps coming on sporadically and giving me a PO101 error code...then I'll reset it after making sure my MPG hasn't dipped a significant amount (which is my "concrete" way of gauging if it's performance is impaired) and it'll come on 1-600 miles later. There's no consistency in environment or conditions that are triggering this sensor, at least it's not obvious to me. I finally looked under the hood at the filter and it's a little dirty, but not nearly dark enough for it to be the problem.
View 4 RepliesMy check engine light was throwing the code P1121 for the coolant flow valve. Toyota replaced it under a warranty enhancement (I have 134k on it), and since then my mpgs have gone from 46 to 50.
My AC is working much better now, too. My theory is that the valve can be in a semi-failure mode for a long time before throwing a code. Now that My coolant is flowing the way that it should, heat is being dissipated more efficiently.
My accent currently has just under 17k and about two months ago displayed a cel. I plugged in my innova 3100 code scanner and it displayed p0441. saying it was incorrect purge flow. My question is.. is this covered under the factory warranty. I'm on a very tight budget and I'm trying to find out before going in and finding out. I've owned Hyundai's since 2002 and so far have never paid for an out of pocket repair. But it doesn't hurt to check ahead.. And I've already gotten the standard "it's your gas cap". Ok I'd buy that if it was 10yrs old but it's only a yr and a half old. besides it only goes half a turn then clicks. so it kind of either seals or it doesn't.

The check engine light on my 99 Camry went on at about 180,000 miles. My mechanic checked the code and turned up an EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM INCORRECT PURGE FLOW He said this could be any number of things,including the need for a gas cannister or some type of valve. What does this mean? How do you determine exactly what the cause of the problem is? What are the likely fixes? Will Toyota be able to better determine the cause than my personal mechanic? What are the best options?

View 7 RepliesI've had the check engine light come on and was told it was probably from topping up too much and that it would go off on it's own... I should say I have no issues with idle or rough starts.
I had it scanned at Auto Zone. The print out shows: "EVAP emission system incorrect purge flow probable cause
1) Faulty purge control solenoid
2) Faulty vent solenoid
3) Blocked vapor canister
Previous posts suggest if it were a blocked vapor canister I'd have trouble completely filling the tank so I am hoping it's one of the others. Almost everything I see suggests the purge control and that looks like an easy fix. My concerns are a) if it is the vent solenoid - how hard is that to get at and b) what is the part number as I can't find it listed anywhere? I want to have both on hand before I start trying to fix this. Lastly if it is the vent solenoid should I just give up and see a dealer??
I got 2001 vw jetta 2.0.. I keep getting check engine light,,when i scan it keep saying P0411 Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected. i replaced new smog air pump, and new egr valve and today i was driving car and i got check engine light, its still same code.
View 4 Replies2004 VR6 24v ... I had another thread about my son's car stalling after driving about 20 miles and then running good again after letting it sit for a couple of hours. Anyway I changed the Crank Position Sensor and I have been driving it work and back the last couple of days so I am starting to relax that the CPS fixed that problem. Won't be positively sure for a while as the problem took a while to occur. So far so good.
While coming to work today the car picked up the P0411 code, secondary air injection system incorrect flow. When I changed the CPS sensor i unbolted a module underneath the car by the oil filter to get better access to the CPS. I did not remove it, just unbolted it so I could push it out of the way about and inch.
After putting it all back together and driving it for several trips with no stalling this P0411 comes on. Is that module I moved the Secondary Air Pump and could I have disturbed something. I will check it when I get home. How critical is that code. I read where it works to warm a cold engine. What effect would there be driving with that code?
I just got a Check Engine light on yesterday. I went to Autozone and got an OBD-II Trouble Code: P0401, Insufficient EGR Flow Insufficient. The Autozone guy showed me an EGR valve for $164 and said it maybe blocked or something. I also checked with a friend who says that as long as the engine is not overheating it should be okay for driving for now.
So the far the car runs just fine, I haven't experienced any issues out of normal. Does the code mean the value need to be replaced?
