I'm unable to open my trunk door with the remote, using the key, or with the switch on the drivers side door. I am also pretty sure it is not frozen shut. Will I need to switch out the complete latch assembly or just need to wd-40 something? This is for a 2000 Passat 1.8T Sedan.

View 2 RepliesI can open all the doors if I press the unlock button on the driver's side. However, suddenly, the remote (both remotes) will unlock only the driver's door & the trunk, but not the passenger & rear doors.
Locking the door manually with the key did nothing. We just replaced the car's battery (it's been 5 years), but that didn't solve the problem with the keyless entry remote. One of the remotes is rarely used (1x/week), so I'd be astonished if both keyless entry remotes needed batteries at the same second.
When I open my door or the driver's side passenger door, there is a thwump or suction- like noise that sounds as if it is coming from the trunk.
I had a repair done a few weeks back and had a loaner 2014 TDI SE, and it had the exact same sound.

View 3 RepliesTrunk release switch on drivers door does not open trunk. Remote and key will open trunk. Sounds like a motor is trying to close the trunk when it is being closed, but does not pull it shut ?
1. I did pull on the switch
2. Gas door switch works fine
3. It is a standard trunk (not powered)
I sat on the remote for my 2010 Prius and the trouble started. I'm not sure how it was supposed to work, but the drivers side door wouldn't open until you played with the remote a lot. Just trying the old smart way by grasping the handle did one of two things, nothing, or it locked the damn door instead of unlocking it. When I used the keyfob, the door unlocked until I grasped the handle, It LOCKED! When I tried to lock the car and walk away, it would lock, then immediately unlock.
View 14 RepliesMy 2000 honha civic door will not open. the remote will unlock all doors except driver door which makes a noise like its trying to open but will only barely move the nub. When you touch the handle the lock goes back down. I've tried to open with key and tried from inside to open it with no luck. I partially removed inside panel to gain access, but could only pull the levers and not really do anything to the lock itself, I just can reach it. I'm considering cutting a hole from the outside to gain access to the lock, but once i do not sure what's next. what should i look for on the lock to get it to release the door latch?
View 4 RepliesI have a 20th anniversary gti and the driver side door wont lock and the gas door wont unlock. The passenger door is fine. The drivers side door will not lock from the switch inside the car or the remote. I already replaced the locking module and nothing changed. I also unplugged and cleaned the 3 plugs for the drivers side wiring harness.
View 2 RepliesMy Phaeton has been in the shop for about a week because the trunk will not open with the switch on the door. The key will open it, but no the door switch. They said it was hard to fix because there is no wire running from the switch to the trunk. Is it just another one of the many "secrets" of the Phaeton.

View 1 RepliesMk IV Jetta. Central locking works fine. All other CCM functions are fine. Replaced CCM recently serial numbers match. When I hit the switch on the door nothing at all happens. When I use the key button the lights flash twice but no other activity. No broken wires between the body and the trunk lid. Actuator works when tested with a 9v battery.

View 4 RepliesFrom inside it works fine. I pulled the interior panel and it looks as if the parts aren't close enough together. There is a white plastic barrel(?) attached to the lever for the exterior handle. When the exterior handle is pulled the white barrel moves down. It looks as if it should strike the lever to activate the spring and release the door. Barely grazes it. Can't seem to get this piece to move closer.
View 1 RepliesSo I have an issue over the last couple weeks, when I open the driver's door the power steps extend, and anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute later the step will retract like I closed the door. I didn't notice this the first time so the first step out of the truck caught me off guard. Now I pay attention to see it is extended before I get out.
So at first I thought it was a step issue, like it wasn't getting a consistent signal that the door was open, but I noticed yesterday when I had the door open, truck running, and radio on it all of a sudden retracted. I shut the truck off and got out but the radio kept playing because the truck thought the door was closed even though it was wide open. I closed the door and opened it and the radio shut off and the step extended and retracted like it should.
So last night I left the door open, truck off, no key in it. Over a period of 5 minutes, the step extended and retracted 8 times. My issue is only with the drivers door, the back doors and passenger doors don't appear to have an issue.
Where is the switch for the door? I think that would be the best place to start in replacing that.
Just picked up a 2005 and the hatch glass will not open. Tried everything that I have read on here and on ClubTouareg. It has to be the fuse or something. Pressing the button on the remote does nothing and neither does the switch on the driver's side door.
View 6 RepliesI have earlier had problems with my driver's outside door handle which now and then doesn't open the door for a week or two, but then suddenly starts to work as normal again for long periods.
Yesterday one of my children had grabbed the outside door handle while I was operating the remote to unlock the car. After that the outside door handle doesn't work any more. I find it unbelieveable that VW designs a system which doesn't gracefully handle a grabbed handle while operating the central lock.
Anyhow, I took off the outer bottom window seal of the door and immediately saw the brown wire coming from the lock assembly. It is supposed to be straight, but this was loose. Look at this image (wire mirrored from the window):

Most internet tips tells me to slam the door a number of times until the wire returns to its position and all is well - probably until the next time the same thing happens...
I have two scenarios, my driver's door handle which doesn't work now and then, and the rear side door which immediately stopped working after the handle was pulled while I unlocked the car.
In the first scenario I aussume that it would be ok to lube or clean the wire? But what is the cure for the second scenario? Also can I somehow access the other end of the wire (at the lock mechanism end) without completely dismantle the door?
When I open the drivers side door I hear a mechanical noise like the seat is moving back or sideview mirrors are adjusting, you know that kind of grindy electric mechanical sound. But I don't see anything moving, just hear a motor working? What is moving or supposed to be moving? I have a 2012 2.5L SEL no memory seats.

Tonight one of my lamps stopped working when I was trying to install HID's. I suspect the fuse is burned out but cant get to it cause the door wont open. How can I get my door open. Need headlights as I get out of work late night and dont want to get pulled over for a headlamp being out.

My Coming Home and Leaving Home functions are turned off due to the HID Headlights, but the interior lights worked fine since the HID installation in 11/13. It is a 2013 Passat SE 2.5. Is there a setting in VCDS for the interior light function.
View 7 RepliesWhen our 2008 Outback (75K miles) is running the garage door remote in the car will not open or close the door. New batteries in the remote, so that can't be the cause. We have to turn the car motor off, operate the remote, then start the car again. We have to follow the same procedure when getting back into the garage. This just started about a month ago and does not happen with any of the other cars in the garage when opening or closing the same door, i.e. the remotes operate with their motors running. Is it possible there is some new electrical discharge from the car that is causing this? Something unusual with the alternator? Other possible causes?
