View 4 RepliesHad a Gen 2 years ago, first time with a Gen 3. Specs: 2011 Prius Two, not II, CPO'd with 83k miles. I've been experiencing this phenomenon for the past couple of days. I would park the car with 6 or 7 bars, but after 8-10 hours of parking it would power up with only 2 bars, or it would power up with 4-5 bars and quickly go down to 2 cars before it charges back up to 6-7 bars. I called the dealer and the SA tells me it's normal. I know for a fact my Gen 2 didn't and my TCH didn't. So is this something I should be concerned about or is this normal for the Gen 3?
View 3 RepliesI was going to add a rear sway bar to make the truck more stable after lifting it but then I thought when I eventually do a cummins swap, with all the torque and the tall block i have in the back ill get a lot of axle wrap so i will need traction bars. So what is the difference between them? will a rear sway bar stop axle wrap as well as body roll? Also will traction bars stop axle wrap and decrease body roll? I just don't want to get a sway bar now and then need traction bars and have to get rid of the sway bar.
View 14 RepliesI want to level the front of my truck. 1999 GMC Serria 2500 4x4. Wondering what is involved. Do the cams on the torsion bars need to be released and rotated or can I just turn the bolts in?
View 2 RepliesI have a 99 passat 1.8t that is putting 250hp to the ground in a front wheel drive. Naturally I am having major traction issues and was wondering anything about traction bars for this car or about awd swap on one of these and what was involved.
View 6 RepliesI just found an almost new set of base carrier bars for my 2004 Passat Wagon at an estate sale. They were still in the original box, but the mounting instructions were missing.
View 4 RepliesI had the red warning, VSC and brake light up on the display. I suspected a bad battery. Bought a Bosch S4, fitted it, all good for about 4 miles, then the warnings came back.
I wondered if the new battery was fully charged so I removed it and charged it. Re-fitted and same thing happened, good for about 4 miles then warnings came back.
The battery fan is on constantly,
The car feels sluggish - loss of power,
The MFD shows the battery bars going from one purple up to all green in a couple of minutes and moving up and down erratically, through all the coloured bars, min to max.
I'm a new Prius owner and don't know if this is normal. Sometimes after being parked for a while and restarted, the icon shows the battery is down to 2 bars. It charges back up after a mile or so of driving. Also if I sit and idle for a while, the battery will drop down, and once going thru a car wash (car in Neutral), a message came on the screen that the Tractor Battery was in trouble (I don't remember the exact words). When I put the car in gear and drove off, the message disappeared and the battery charged up. What's the deal?
View 11 RepliesMy 2008 recently had auxillary battery replaces. My display (seems to me) that the battery bars on the display seem to be low or go low much more often. At freeway speeds the battery appears to be charging, that is, the number of bars get more numerous.
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to install the OEM roof bars on a S? The VW Parts guy says no.
View 5 RepliesI have been driving my new 2011 prius for a week now and have noticed that in stop and go traffic I occasionally get down to three bars before the engine kicks in. Is this normal?
Also today I was in a traffic jam for a half hour and got to 2 bars a few times(lots of stop and go). Is this normal also? When driving on the freeway the bars are always 6-8. There are no colors on the bars, just white.
As I'm driving along, the normal battery strength on the MFD shows 5/6 blue bars but occasionally, it will change to the last but one green bar and sometimes all the bars go green.
Everything else is fine, no warning lights etc.
Is this a normal?
A diagnostic done by a mechanic on my 2005 base model prius pulled the following codes; p3000, c1259, c1310, poa80, p3022. The mechanic replaced the main battery computer, but red triangle still illuminated and green bars are displayed on energy monitor. The car only has only 65,000 miles on it and the car runs ok, but does not accelerate properly. I'm being told the main battery needs to be replaced.
View 14 RepliesSo I met my wife after work. I was killing some time with my son. We drove across the street, then to a neighboring shopping center. I changed the display to see the more accurate instant MPG and noticed my battery was at 2 bars. This is the first time that's happened, that I'm aware of. During normal operation, it stays at 2 bars above the halfway mark, or above.
View 6 RepliesJust got a used 2012 Prius TWO, NOT II, yesterday, I noticed that the battery on the dashboard was down to two bars when I was driving at one point. What happens if it goes to zero bars?
View 10 RepliesI'm sure it's been asked before but why even show the gas level and claim those miles in the range. Also is there any way to tow this thing and while I'm here is there any way to use a floor jack on these.
View 19 RepliesI've noticed that my battery only charges to 6 out of the 8 bars and have never gotten it to go higher. How to get the battery to fully charge?
View 12 RepliesLately I've really been noticing these bars and sharp points being able to be felt through the seat cushion on the driver's seat. I had the dealership replace the seat cushion recently cos it was already deformed (< 2 years), and now I feel several bars through the cushion (along the seams in the seat cover). The bars were able to be felt before they replaced the cushion; I thought maybe replacing the cushion would fix this problem somehow. No luck.
To be specific, I feel these bars when sitting on the seat normally. It's getting annoying.
Passenger seat feels fine. I would be surprised if this is normal for the driver's seat, if so, *bad* seat design.
I feel an entire seat replacement is warranted perhaps. Car is still under warranty (3 years / 36K).
My neighbor stopped me this morning saying her 2005 prius was acting up.
When we started off the MFD was showing all blue bars, ac lights radio all turned off.
Drove less than 3 blocks and it dropped to one purple bar and had hesitation on acceleration.
Went around the neighborhood about 3 miles and it was showing full charge green , parked and restarted, it dropped to all blue bars.
I just rotated the OEM Ecopia tires at near 40,000 miles. They still have some life left (5000-10,000 miles). I noticed that there are wide wear bars and I'm 1-2 mm from reaching those, but there are also other narrower and shallower bars. Is this wet or snow type of indicator?
There are arrowheads next to the real wear bars and not next to the smaller ones, so they are not really wear bars.
We just got through changing out the 12 volt battery. Car is 2009 and had 60k miles but last summer was a killer hot summer in Texas. The care was doing strange things with the first start of the day with the triangle! coming on and then having to turn off the car and power back on to get it to go. So all posts seemed to indicate bad battery. We checked diagnostics and it was showing 9 volts. So now it is changed, diagnostics shows 12 volts but the gas indicator went to nothing. no bars. yesterday it was all bars. I supposed someone could have siphoned off all my gas last night but highly unlikely and too coincidental that it shows that after the battery change. Is there something we need to reset?
