Jul 23, 2007
I have a 99 Passat with about 65K on it. The sunroof will open sporadically and not necessarily close right away with the switch.

View 4 RepliesThe sunroof on my 04 gli just decided to open by itself and now it won't close. Why this is happening?
View 16 RepliesI was trying to close my sunroof just now and it starts to close but it stops just before the end and opens back up again!! What do i do about it?
View 10 RepliesSometimes the sun roof of my 2001 Passat will open about 1/5 when the car is on and even when it is parked overnight. Why does this happen? Luckily it wasn't raining the other night when it happened.
View 5 RepliesI have been unsuccessful in closing the power sunroof from outside the car with the key fob. In my previous VWs and my current A4 I have the ability to do it with the key by turning to the right. The manual says to hold the lock button down??!! How long do I have to hold it down??

View 5 RepliesThis morning the sunroof on our 04 Wagon freaked out and now will not close, or go back into the roof. It is stuck about 1/2 lifted. Each time you move the dial it tries to close, then goes right back to 1/2 open. Nothing appears to be stuck anywhere in the mechanisms and we were driving while it happened.
View 1 RepliesHave sunroof vent open and close by itself while driving down the road? mine did it about 6 times yesterday during one trip but hasn't done it again since....
View 5 RepliesToday my sunroof tilted open all by itself while I was driving, then it closed it by itself. Then it did it all over again.
A week ago it tilted open, I closed it by moving the switch to full open, then close.
In another post ("Sunroof Problem") I found one mention of this problem and the switch was the culprit.
I had to have the switch replaced?
Is it normal for my 2014's sunroof to open only 3/4 of the way, then stop? I can open it the rest of the way if I hold the button. Any way to make it open all the way with one press?
View 3 RepliesPicked up my new Mk7 last night, but I have an issue with the sunroof. It slides back and closes just fine, but won't tilt! How to fix this? I have a VCDS if needed.
Obligatory new car pic:
Yesterday for the first time my sunroof suddenly opens automatically while driving, didn't touch anything.. Couldn't close it then, buttons didn't work for 10 minutes before finally works. I'll take it to the dealer monday morning...
View 4 RepliesThe power liftgate on my 2015 SF Sport will open just fine but as soon as it opens all the way, it begins to close. It doesn't always do this but recently it's happening more than not.
By the way, I do not have the liftgate set to open automatically, just power liftgate is checked on the settings.
My 2008 has about 49k miles on her and my Moonroof started acting up the other day. The tilt function works perfectly. It even slides out to max open, however when I attempt to close it, it closes about 2/3 of the way then it acts as if it senses something in the way and opens all the way back up. I didn't take anything apart, but didn't notice anything in the rails. I also didn't hear any sort of grinding or stalling on the motor. If the motor is going bad?
View 2 RepliesI've got a 2006 F150 King Ranch with rear power slider that opens but won't close. After looking more closely, the bracket holding the 'close' cable is cracked and the cable end keeps pulling out. Can I just remove the sliding window/bracket and repair the holder with JB Weld or am I looking at replacing the entire back window to enjoy the convenience?
View 3 RepliesProblem I'm having with my sunroof on my '10 GTI. The sunroof opens an inch and makes cracking/grinding noises. Then it needs a push on the actual glass while turning the nob in order to force it to close. And the tilt function ends up with one corner of the glass further down then the other. How to fix this problem or how to remove the headliner, or if it is worth bringing to the dealer? The dealer is the last thing i want to do because my warranty is up and those jerks charge an arm and a leg on labor alone.
View 3 RepliesDrove my 2004 Volvo S60 today and open the sunroof this morning. I made 4 stops and shut the car off but let the sunroof open because it was a nice day and did not lock it since I was as buddies house and we were outside. Drove back home about 12 miles and parked the car and before I hout the engine down I tried to close the sunroof and nothing. Checked fuse 34 (15 amp) and replaced it and still nothing.
View 1 RepliesMy 2010 Sonata has a sunroof which I did not mean to open. I touched the button by mistake and the sunshade and sunroof opened. I have tried what I think is everything to close it, but no luck. How to close it?
View 8 RepliesSo my friend was driving her car and the sunroof won't close. When it gets to the end of the track, it opens itself back up again. We found a piece sitting on the right-hand track but don't see anyplace where it would fit. It's Saturday pm on a holiday weekend and no place is open.
Here's a picture of the part (with a pen for scale) [URL] .....
Is there a way to force this thing to close so the car doesn't get ruined by rain until she can fix it?
Having sunroof not closing problems? It tilts up but wont close down, Car only has 18xx miles...
View 2 RepliesI had my first potential problem happen yesterday. I parked my car in a parking lot and my sunroof wouldn't close. I think that the pinch protection was the culprit because it started to close and would open when there was about a 3 inch gap. It never closed but when I drove away and tried it again in motion it closed.
