With thunderstorms in my area and roads partially flooded. Something struck the bottom of my b5.5 puncturing the oil pan. The car stopped on me and wouldnt start. All electrics died as well. No oil in the car will do this right? Anyway, with Geico, I had my car towed to a shop in the area. They want 650 for a new pan and labor.
View 7 RepliesAC condenser punctured by a flying object? Apparently, a projectile about the size of a BB flew through the front grill and punctured my AC condenser coil. No other visible damage to the grill so it had to pass through the grill slats which are about 3/4" apart. Repair runs about $1800 and not covered by warranty.

To counter this I have to run ac so that radiator fans will turn , after turning on ac it start reaching to normal.
This issue starts happening few weeks back ,before it never shows such issue, is it the coolant that I need to replace or what ??
In the past I have had my fuel Gauge go down 1 bar after about 60 miles traveled. Since my last fill up my fuel Gauge has only gone down 1 bar (9 still ON) after 185 miles travel. The gauge appears to be struck with 9 bars ON after 185 miles traveled!, Any fix to a stuck fuel Gauge indication?
View 18 RepliesI just changed the oil in the 04 GLS. It looks like the intercooler is leaking at the bottom hose. It does leave marks on the garage floor. Also I may have rear main seal leak too.

Getting the bottom of the engine shaking problem? We have a new 07 2.0 Wagon and it has been driving fine. This afternoon after getting off the freeway (after about a 20 mile drive) came up to a stop light. Car in D, foot on brake.....car starts shaking. Running really rough. Once foot was let off, car rolled off as normal and then shaking went away. Happened 2 more times while waiting to get the a parking spot. After 10 minutes started it up and all is fine. No warning lights and it runs as expected. It has 250 miles on it.
View 6 RepliesHere is leaking from the nozzle on the bottom of the can.... opened my hood to check it today and it was leaking condensation and i could feel air blowing out of it. How to fix it? i have no issues cause by it, no CEL and no power loss.
View 10 RepliesI have 2002 1.8T Wagon GLS with a manual climatic (with 3 big dial buttons). The weather is now getting cold and yesterday I started to realize there is no air coming from the bottom vents (both passenger and driver side) when the air flow dial button is set to bottom vents. All other positions (windshield and front vents) are all working. The air flow dial button appears to be mechanically controlled.
View 1 RepliesA buddy of mine has a late 2000 passat 2.8. He recently developed a bad knocking at higher RPM's. I took a look at it and it is coming from the bottom end of the motor (rod bearing, crank bearing?) He has no loss of power and the knock is not there at idle.

View 1 RepliesI have a kit of lights from my wrecked mk6 jetta for the rear bottom door lights that I would like to install on my Passat. I looked into the DIY thread for our cars and found nothing. I found some info on the Bold-Sport website but the connector at the window motor is different on the mk6 jetta compared to the Passat. My questions are:
1- Are the pins location the same to make them work on the Passat then it is for the Jetta?
2- Is the coding to activate them the same as the Jetta?
I have a 2004 3.0 V6. The dash temperature gauge doesn't move just sits at the bottom 50C. (Canadian metric)...
I would like to locate the sender for the gauge to do a little testing. I removed a whack of plastic but nothing was obvious.
My check engine light has been on for 3 days i get my appointment with VW and then today i start it up and it goes off. Also, having a problem with very loud squeaking coming from the front bottom left of the engine ?

View 1 RepliesI dont know anything about cars, but I recently scratched the bottom of my bumper pretty bad. I see metal, so that would be a deep scratch right? I have done a little research and was wondering if this was the right way to repair it. First I sandpaper it. Then I use something (any recommendations) to fill up the scratch? Finally, I carefully paint it with some touch up paint.

View 23 RepliesMy Infiniti I30, 2000 model, has been great for so many years. I got 245,000 miles on it and seems that it will go for another 245000. But, since last 15 days, I can feel a distinct knock from the bottom of the car ( it feels so). This happens after about 30 minutes of driving and I can feel and hear the knock when the car is stopped at a light or stop sign. The sound comes like every few seconds at uneven pace. I cannot hear it when car is moving. My mechanic changed the Air intake sensor ( pretty expensive) but the problem still persists. I put super unleaded and also STP engine treatment. The problem continues. Car is working fine otherwise.
View 6 RepliesSo I jacked up my car on stands to put in my dogbone mount insert yesterday, and my friend noticed this hole on the bottom of my transmission:
He said if you look inside you can see gears and (his words) "They look pretty dry". Is this just an inspection hole? I imagine if there was some kind of catastrophic fluid loss my transmission would shift weirdly/not at all. But so far it seems pretty normal. Its a MT btw.
I purchased my 2004 Blue-silver V6 Touareg last week. So far all is well. Except for one major problem. I keep hearing a noise under the bottom when I am at very low speeds. It has an axle-grinding sound to it. Here is my problem -- it comes and goes. I took it back to the dealership and they heard nothing. I drove it for a day later and heard nothing. But once again the noise came back --- last night and this morning. Keep in mind -- I am not using the sportshift or offroading drives--I'm just driving on the interstate and as I exit off an come to a slow stop -- "I hear this weird axle noise under the bottom".
View 3 RepliesI have an appradio 3, with the dash kit, and it has two clips on the top to hold the deck into place, but there aren't any clips on the bottom. So because of that, the bottom of my deck always pushes out.
