01 Passat ... The small black square plastic piece that connects to the bulb of my headlight has melted and wanted to replace it. I just don't know what the part is called.
View 1 RepliesI was changing standard halogen headlight bulbs last night and as I was getting the drivers side bulb out the metal part came off with the bulb and I noticed the black plastic part of the socket was partially melted. Sketchy. Far as I know these bulbs have never been changed I bought the car w 3500 miles back in 06. Is there anything I should do besides replacing the melted socket? A part # would be awesome too...
View 2 RepliesI have a 95.5 Isuzu Rodeo, V6, 165k and am having a hell of a time finding parts. Apparently every issue I am having, so is everyone else by the looks of the salvage yards.
Interior door handles. All my doors went to shit within a month of each other. The black plastic piece that attaches the handle has snapped. In all of them.
Also, the tailgate will not disengage. I can press the button in front and you can hear it click, but not catch. The key will not open it either.
The back window motors are out or in the process of going out.
I had my 2010 Camry up on a hoist yesterday and noticed that there is sort of a small deflector type plastic piece with about a 1 inch lip on the underbody just before the rear wheels. It is held on by two bolts. You can just barely see it and might have to bend down to get a good look at it. It is on both sides. I'm not talking about the rear mud/splash guards but the small piece before the rear tires.
What this is called and what it's purpose is?
In the 2007 Touareg V6 Automatic, directly at the bottom of the shifter pole, under the middle counsel plastic there is a black piece of plastic that recoils and unfolds as you shift gears what is that and where can I find that little piece of plastic
View 1 RepliesToday when I am driving the 2007 Prius, suddenly heard some noise. I managed to come home and checked. There is a black plastic piece hanging and touch the ground, the noise was from this black plastic piece touching the ground. Attached is the picture.Is this a big problem? Can I continue to drive the car to repair shop to get this fixed?
View 6 RepliesUnfortunately my HID bulb wasn't secure in the headlight assembly and melted the part that holds the bulb in place in the headlight assembly.
My question is if that part that retains the bulb is replaceable or I will need to replace the whole head light assembly? ( The wire connector is fine.)
If the part is replaceable, What is the name or part #...
About a month ago I replaced both of the main headlights in my Gen 3. I've noticed since that the light from both seemed a little skewed and thought maybe I didn't lock them back in fully. i finally checked them today and was able to get the left side light straightened out, but when I went to check the right hand (passenger) side one (which isn't working again), i realized that it must have come out.
Essentially the light bulb is shattered/exploded and it melted part of the cable next to it, and is now stuck to that cable. Besides being partially melted, the cable also has some exposed wires. i don't know what those wires do, but I can't imagine it's a good thing to leave it exposed next to a live circuit from the headlight.
See the attached picture. What that cable is that melted and if it's possible to replace it myself, or do I need to take it in?
So a couple weeks ago my passenger headlight started flickering. After a couple days the bulb was out. I bought a new bulb and opened up the headlight to install and found the bulb melted into the igniter. Ok, bought a new igniter. Installed everything. And still nothing. Checked the fuses and wires, nothing loose. Headlight still didn't turn on. Went to my mechanic and he said it's the ballast. I buy a new ballast and he just called and said the ballast I bought was defective. The light was turning on, but no high beam.
Does the ballast control the high beam? If it's not the ballast, what could be the problem?
What the square piece on the passenger side of the front bumper, in line with the GTI emblem is? The other day I noticed that it appeared to have popped out slightly. I push it back into place, (it snaps into place) but i again noticed today after my commute home it had slightly popped out again. What does this cover and has any experience of it popping out?

View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 Prius. The black square key is stuck in the ignition and won't come out. I can hear clicking sound under the hood -- perhaps the battery. But the car won't start; the clock is off and the doors don't lock, except manually.

There was no script, no symptoms, and when I restarted, has gone away ever since. I looked in the manual but could find no information on this symbol.
View 4 RepliesI heard some scraping under my car and pulled over to check it out and the plastic piece under the car was hanging down. I took it off all the way so it wouldn't get damaged any more, and took it to the dealer. The piece was torn off in almost a perfect straight line, which they told me was from the piece being bent for oil changes. They didn't have the part in stock and I was going on a long trip the next day, so they put the piece back in place with new clips and zip ties. The dealer said it should be replaced at the next oil change which will be 60k for me.

View 11 RepliesSo I used to have my phone holder clipped to the vents to the left of the steering wheel. Key words, used to. One day, one of the clips snapped as I was putting my phone into the holder, sending a piece of plastic about 2 inches long into the vent. At first I could see it, but since I was driving, I couldn't fish it out. Sure enough, on a turn, it disappeared completely into the dark void that is the ventilation system. Now, on every turn, I can hear the little sucker careening back and forth. Sounds like I'm gonna have to disassemble the dash to into the pipes, but maybe there's a more harmless way.

View 8 RepliesMy wife came home today and asked me to take a look at something on her brand new 1 month old Prius V 5. I asked her was there something wrong with her car. Of course she told me no, everything is fine. She opens up the driver side front car door, (she has a Barcelona Red V with Bisque faux leather interior) and points out some small scratches on the plastic silver/gray plastic piece that surrounds the power window buttons. It looks like while she was driving she probably put her hand on that area with her wedding band and diamond most likely scratching the area. This is only a guess at what caused it. I can't believe something as placing your hand down would scratch it that easily. That area probably shouldn't be plastic or should of been protected a little better.
