I have a funky screaming noise coming from my clutch when I press the clutch in down to the floor if I don't press it to the floor it doesn't make noise
and car still drives fine what is this noise. It makes a noise like when you over start the car it's weird. I never heard anything like this before is it a new clutch. I need or new throw out bearing of do I need to breed the clutch?
I have a 1994 Toyota Pickup DLX 3.0 V6 5spd. I love this truck to death since I inherited it from my grandfather.. however, I have a small problem. Whenever the truck sits for about 3 days without being driven; when I go to drive it the next morning, the clutch will go straight to the floor when I press it. Sometimes it'll even stick. After pumping it about 20 times (it's hydraulic) it'll be fine. It hasn't always done this. The clutch fluid level is fine.

View 6 RepliesI have a 2009 Hyundai sonata, 2.4, 5 speed manual, gls, when I press down on clutch whether from a stop or when shifting, I get a loud grinding noise and the radio goes dead at same time!, I know it is the starter attempting to "engage", at least that's what I believe it to be, it also "'starts "from, the "on " position when I press on clutch.
View 8 RepliesLong story..couple months ago while coming home my 08 Sonata 2.4L manual 84,000 miles...started making this grinding noise and would stop when I pressed the clutch in and then sounded like something was grinding near the passenger front wheel.. well I get it home and the next morning my husband and I ride up the road so he can hear it.. was going to take it to the shop but it stopped and ran just fine till the other day.. crank the car and its fine.. once it gets warmed up and a few miles down the road it makes a knocking noise...but only when I let off the gas or idling .. even pressing on the gas just a tiny bit made it stop (even tried in while parked in the driveway with the hood up to make sure the engine wasn't just drowning it out) well I took it to the local dealership today and they said it was the flywheel and that it and the clutch and bearing needed to be replaced..

1 year ago, clutch pedal would not come up off the floor, no life in the pedal.
Problem: Clutch master cylinder, replaced.
6 months ago, clutch finally went bad. Took car to clutch shop, replaced clutch kit(found out after i payed that they only turned the dual-mass flywheel... ). Get car from clutch shop, the clutch pedal came up only 2-3 inches off the floor by itself but you could lift the pedal with your hand or foot, and it would come back up all the way, but it was life-less. It was not pulling fluid in. It was catching extremely low. I called the shop, they said that it was just because it was a new clutch and it would get better. I didn't believe them.
Two days ago, I got into my car and couldn't get it into gear. Clutch pedal would go down with the same amount of force as before. Took it back to the clutch shop and explained the history with the clutch master and then them doing the clutch kit. They said it wasn't bleeding properly and they're not sure if its going to have problems again. Car is working now, but I am concerned that it will have similar problems again.
The tech who fixed it said he pumped fluid into it extremely hard, and that's what made the pedal come up all the way (no longer stops 2 inches off the floor) and its going into gear just fine now. What the problem might have been? Block in the hydraulic lines? If this is the case, does forcing fluid through it fix it?
My clutch pedal went all the way to the floor. The engine was missing first and then that problem happened with the clutch. I had the car towed to my business, I checked it the other day and the pedal was up. The clutch still doesn't engage.

View 4 RepliesLast night I was driving home and decided to show off at a light. I punched it pretty hard, but it wasn't anything outrageous.. anyway, as soon as I shifted to second, my clutch pedal gave out and dropped to the floor without resistance. I coasted it to a gas station, luckily.. When I lifted my foot the pedal rose back slowly. I tried pumping the pedal, didn't work. I looked for leaks, but none were found. I turned it off, put it in first and tried starting it, and it turned over and jumped/jerked forward, a lot like it did right when I shifted into second and it went out. So I'm assuming that its not the entire clutch cause it wouldn't have engaged the engine. It's not a leak. pumping it didn't work so it's can't be a pressure issue.. what is going on? is it my master cylinder, or maybe my slave?

I have heard the it uses the same tank as the brake lines do, but the tank that holds the brake fluid is full. Can it be the slave cylinder is gone? or just got a air pocket in the line?

View 10 RepliesI have a VW Passat 2003. I had my front and rear brake pads replaced (and rotors sanded) 4 months ago at Merchant's. They used ceramic brakes b/c they were the recommended manufacturer part. Because the brakes are ceramic, I expected a little squeaking, and at first there was; just a short squeak that sounded like a flute, and it only happened when I turned my wheel to the right. Now the brakes squeak, scream and chirp continually. They squeak sometimes when I stop, like some brakes do when they're going bad.
While I'm driving (at 35-50mph), they scream like a kettle: a very high-pitched continuous noise. When I push the brakes or turn the wheel a certain way, the noise stops. The same happens with the chirping noise. I don't know when the noises started b/c I usually only hear it when my windows are down. I took my car back to Merchant's to have them check and they didn't find anything wrong; they just lubricated the brake pads, but that didn't work. Could there be something wrong with my brakes or is this normal for ceramic brakes?
The wife came home with a really loud screaming noise coming out from under the hood. I used my stethoscope and I'm 95% sure it's the alternator. It was a pretty easy removal process, sending it out to be rebuilt tomorrow. I guess at 90k I have no reason to complain.
I chose to get it rebuilt because of info that I had heard true or not, that Toyota alternators have an internal clutch and aftermarkets may not work properly.
We have had a 2004 Volvo XC70 for two years now, problem-free. But recently we experienced a strange, new thing. We were driving in a very heavy rain in Maine (during the hurricane) and suddenly the engine began screaming...not at all like a loose belt or bad bearing, but really loud, seeming from right front. We stopped, no idots lights came on. Began again, soon the same thing. Stopped again, waited, then took off again, with rain lessening. No further problems the rest of the drive back to Vermont. But now, we occasionally have the screaming, only briefly and ONLY when it rains. It concerns us a bit.
View 3 RepliesMy belt was making a screaming squeaky noise to wake up the dead. I used dish soap on it and it got quiet as long as I remember to bring the dish soap. My mechanic looked at my AC and told me I need a new compressor (he is a friend I trust) Now the AC comp turns but the belt seems to go on and off. And, the weird thing is-the AC feels great! Am I to expect any moment for it to just stop working? So, what to expect from my dead or dying compressor?

View 4 RepliesI have a 2011 corolla XRS 5 speed with about 32,000 km's. There is a squeak when i press the clutch down coming from outside the car. I brought in my car for scheduled maintenance and they initially said that the clutch fork would be to be lubricated. I got the car back, thinking all had been taken care of, but noticed next day that it was still squeaking. I went back there for them to tell me. 'oh yeah, we can't lubricate unless we pull off your tranny.' I would have to leave the car there all day and so forth and so forth.
I thought it would have been a simple solution but i am concerned now about them pulling off the tranny and therefore maybe causing some other issues now or later.
I don't hear the squeak when driving usually only when stopped with window open and pressing the clutch.
My R is stock. When I accelerate hard and shift, I can hear like a whine noise when I press the clutch to shift.
Its like something continue to spin fast when I press the clutch at high rpm.
I have a 95 Dodge Dakota SLT with a manual transmission. When I press the clutch, it loudly squeals. It makes no noise when my foot is off the clutch either in gear or neutral. I made sure the master cylinder was full of fluid. I'm thinking it's the throw out bearing.
I'm out of town, and have to drive 8 hours to get home. Can I get it home, or should I have it fixed ASAP?
Picked up the car 5 days ago but noticed when I press the clutch and rev the engine, there's a throttle delay/hesitation and a simultaneous sound like "psshht". The sound is almost like when you're shifting a turbo car with a blow off valve.
Other than that the car is great. 2012 Elantra GL manual ...
