How to determine which wheel sensor I need to replace?

View 2 RepliesMy dealership said our left rear is noisy and that we need new wheel bearings and a speed sensor and to do an alignment and balance. I called my other wheel place and they are about $300 cheaper. But, they said I have the option of an OEM wheel bearing or different one. I'm a little confused, but I think the OEM would be about $85 more, if I understood correctly. Whether or not to get OEM for this?

View 6 RepliesI have a 2003 Passat 1.8t(B5.5) and I need to change my engine coolant temperature sensor. I have search and found conflicting answers on the forums as far as it location and description. From what I can see it is located near the bottom right hand corner of the radiator(Driver Side). I have removed the sensor and I did see some antifreeze spill out. I examined the sensor and it is blue in color with a rounded top. I called my local auto zone and received a replacement part but it is green and looks a little different.
I understand that the blue one that I removed is no longer produced. My question is is this the right sensor and the right location? All the write ups I can find say that it is located in the back of the engine yet I cannot find one there. Also when I replaced the blue senor with the green one the fan on my car is spinning at high speed(the AC fan) and will not idle. I am wondering if the new sensor is faulty/ incorrect or if i simply replaced the wrong sensor.
Here is a link to the replacement part I used : [URL] .....
I m about to replace the front wheel bearing of my 2000 1.8 t I already rent the tool (hub and bearing puller and installer) from german auto parts.com but looking for pics of step by step of the process before starting the job.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2000 Passat and brought it to a local shop to have the left front wheel bearing changed. He took the car apart and said he couldnt do it because the anti lock brake wire ran threw the control arm and had no plug on it and was wired right to the dash board. Should i find a different place to take it to or is it a dealer required fix. Can i buy the bearing myself and change it?
View 1 RepliesReplacing front wheel bearings on my 99 Passat? There is a gentle 'wahwahwah' grumble at speeds over 40mph. The car has done 130,000 miles and is otherwise in nice condition.
View 3 RepliesB5.5 GLX 4Motion ... My Car has no Power. Idles rough. Take off is slow. I can stomp it to the floor but the RPM needle barely moves.
Mechanic says I have many codes going off but thinks its the MAF. Already spent a bundle (misdiagnosed or ripped off) on other non related stuff that was supposed to fix this problem.
Mechanic says 90% sure but part is non return able. Need to know where to get the MAF cheap and quickly. Also part number or other identifying information so I don't get the wrong one.
It just started last week, only when in drive, checked vac lines, good ignition system including new plugs, its very annoying the steering wheel even shakes, what to look into, the rpm at idle is around 500. 1.8T
View 5 RepliesHow difficult is it to replace the crank position sensor? It looks pretty tucked away at the front of the engine. Just wondering how much time I should put aside for this job.
View 15 RepliesI own a 2003 F-150 4.2 engine 2 wheel drive extended cab. I need finding an easier way to get at the O2 sensor connector on bank #2. I am having a trouble code of P0171 and want to check the sensor to see if it is working...
View 6 RepliesI have an 1997 Mountaineer AWD with the 5.0. The vehicle has 235,000 miles on it and has run great all this time. Early in the month the Check Eng light came on, I check the code and got "P0141 O2 Sensor Heater circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2". I check and found out it is the O2 sensor behind the Cat that is bad.
I have never change any O2 sensor on this vehicle since I have got it brand New. I have changed the oil every 5000 miles and flushed out the trans every 50,000 miles. New plugs and wires at 100,000 miles. I take good care of my vehicle as best as I can.
My Questions are, should I go ahead and change all the O2 sensor's? Which brings me to ask. How many O2 sensors does this vehicle have and where? Could it be something else causing the check eng light to come on? How bad is it to change all the O2 sensors out?
Emergency brake light, VSC, ABS, and (!) On, after 02 sensor replacement by local shop. I'm having trouble with my 2004 Prius. I have been having this issue shortly after having an 02 replacement. It has about 232,xxx miles and instantly I started having issues.
View 6 RepliesI am looking to verify that replacing the Transmission Range Sensor on my 2002 SE is the correct action for me to take. My symptoms include:
1) Fuse 17 keeps blowing intermittently but frequently. It has never blown in a middle of a trip. Have not determined if it is blown at end of trip or right at start of next trip.
2) All gears are highlighted (have boxes lit up on all gears) when I am in park or neutral. The correct gear is highlighted when in any of the drive gears including reverse. This symptom is constant and has been for a few months now.

View 10 RepliesAfter heavy rain yesterday my 2005 2.7 Santa fe wouldn't start today. Had it towed to nearby dealer. The crankshaft position sensor needs to be replaced. He claims its melted to the block and oil pan needs to be dropped to remove it.
View 5 RepliesReplacing the tps themselves? Is it something a newbie at diy car stuff can do? I'm getting codes P2016, P1295 and P161B, and I see no problem with the car except one thing, when the engine is cold the shift from P to D is rough. Is the tps causing this?
View 9 RepliesI have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport with 153K miles. I've been on a maintenance kick lately and I'm wondering, is it reasonable to start replacing sensors before they go bad? I've replaced both oxygen sensors over the last few years but what about the others, MAPS, TPS, crankshaft position sensor, etc? The Jeep is running great but I've been driving a lot more for work and just want to keep it that way.
View 19 RepliesSo, at some point in the past (probably during the winter) the bottom panel on the passenger side of the car was torn off. Either during that incident, or sometime after, the O2 sensor wires were also torn. I have replaced the O2 sensor (and the bottom panel), but I'm still getting a P0140 (O2 Sensor Circuit) error. So, now I'm wondering if the torn wires managed to short circuit, either with themselves or in the rain/snow at some point. What fuse this might be? I haven't pulled the cover off to check yet, just thought I would ask here while I was thinking of it.
View 4 RepliesI have just replaced an almost new oxygen sensor on my 2000 Grand Am. After about 40 miles, the check engine light came back on again. I have not had a chance to check it, but I assume it is the oxygen sensor again. What am I missing?
