View 7 RepliesSo I've been getting that nasty, musky odor in my 2006 Sonata. I just purchased it used last December, so don't know when the cabin air filter was last changed. I had to do this with my Camry not too long ago, so I still have the spray to try on it if the filter isn't too old/dirty. The problem:
When I lowered the glovebox to get to the cabin air filter, one of the tabs was broken off. I figured no big deal. I pressed on the other three and they all broke off. My husband tried to get it out, but no luck. I'm afraid of damaging it if I try to pry it out and even if I succeed, do I have to do that every time I need to get to the filter? Where I would find a new housing?
I just completed the spark plug change on my wife's '07 RX350. As the numerous threads on this topic point out, this is one serious undertaking. I'm not claiming to be a mechanic but have done my share of DIY's including changing the usual oil/filter, brake discs/pads, serpentine belt, rear hatch switch and now the spark plugs on my wife's car and the same or similar on all of my other cars. This has got to be the single most difficult project that I've tackled recently. I did fail to do the front Mac struts but this was because I didn't appear to have the right spring compressor. Go figure.
Anyhow, I found that I needed to remove the front windshield cowl to get access to that infamous third stay bolt.
To my question ... I managed to break off the tabs that lock the connector to the ignition coil on about three spark plugs. I'm concerned about these eventually vibrating off. Should I be concerned about this? Do I need to now go in and change these? Or, tie-wrap then in place?
just got back into a .:R 6/18/13 and took it to a nearby jiffy lube to get an oil change not 100% sure if they're responsible or not but i noticed the belly pan was hanging rather low and broke not too long after. ordered a replacement from ecs w/ the 3 M6x20 pan->subframe bolts since they were missing. got under the car today to replace/install new pan and noticed that 2 of the missing bolts were broken in the frame. tried searching but found nothing?

View 5 RepliesThis just started today and when I turned off my car and removed the key from the ignition, the radio stayed on. Also, when I opened the door, the door chime came on as if the lights were still on and now I'm not able to lock the car or set the alarm using my key. I've read that some vw cars are wired so that the radio stays on after the car is turned off, but this has never been the case with my car. My main concern is battery drainage and being unable to lock and arm my alarm.
View 2 RepliesI have a strange problem with my radio in 2012 Sonata GLS. I sometimes turn on the car and radio makes low pitch noise. I switch off the car but radio stays on making noise and radio display stays lit, I try to turn off the radio - does not work, I press radio buttons - no response - only low pitch noise. In the end I need to disconnect battery and it fixes the problem. This happened 2 or 3 times over last 4 months. I am not sure how I can consistently reproduce the problem.
View 2 RepliesI was removing a remote starter off of my 04 camry because it no longer worked. After I removed it i noticed that the radio and clock were not working. I checked the blue/red accessory wire on the ignition harness and noticed it looked like it had seen better days. So i decided to make the connect more solid by cutting the weak point and crimping it back together. Now I put the key in and turn it to run and I ONLY get the CEL light, the airbag light and the brake light(parking brake is engaged). I can't utilize the windows, it wont even attempt to crank, the a/c and heat don't work now. I checked all the wires in the area of the ignition harness and all are solid connection (tested with a voltmeter). I have tried to jump start the car with another car as well as unhooking the battery for 2 hours and nothing has changed. I also triple checked every single fuse i can see in the passenger compartment and under the hood and all are good. I also checked the circuit board behind the fuse panel under the dash and everything looked ok.
View 13 RepliesI just purchased a 2009 Pontiac Vibe, I love it, but I didn't notice that the radio knob was broken, I can't control the volume. Actually if I turn it just right it will catch but it's very difficult to do and I have to be parked to play with it. Is there a way to fix the knob?
View 4 RepliesI ran over a curb on the passenger side and somehow broke off all 4 tabs that you screw into to hold your fog lights in place.
How to fix this issue without replacing the bumper? I don't have any cracks in the bumper but I do have scratches on the bottom of the bumper.
I don't suppose I can get this replaced under warranty can I?
Pulling the pan off a 1.8 B5 while still in the car? Book says it can be done, but can't quite get enough clearance. Any secrets?
View 10 RepliesWhat the effect is of taking out the key fob while your car is in motion? I was on the highway once, and my friend asked what would happen if i were to try to take out the key.. I figured to myself, "VW surely must've implemented some sort of safety mechanism..", so i confidently gave it a try.. and to my surprise, the key actually came right out, and my console (speedometer / tach / fuel / engine temp) shut down.. I kinda panicked, and just popped the key fob right back in, and all was well after that.. What is actually going on with the car when you do this?

View 1 RepliesMy ride is 06 Passat v6 4motion. I got 45K on it.
Last night, when I came back home, I could not pull out my key from dash. I tried several times to pull out my key but to fail. So I left my key in the ignition hole and locked my car using spare key. This morning, I tried again but still stuck in dash.
What is worse is that when I arrived dealer shop for that problem, I could pull out my key from dash!
I know that the rear emblem is two pieces, I want to color match the black to silver then black out the VW. Is there a way to just take off the silver VW without removing the whole thing off the back?? If so, how?
View 2 RepliesI am installing the wiring for trailer lights in my 2007 B6 wagon. I need to remove the interior trim panels for this, but I can't find any diagrams or DIYs on where the screws or clips are. I don't want to just go at it and end up putting pressure in the wrong places and breaking clips.

View 4 RepliesI thought i would waste my weekend trying to put my katzkin interior in, its proving to be a lot harder than i thought. I've been searching this but haven't been able to find the details on how to take the bottom of the backseat out. its hinged and folds forward, but i don't see any screws to take it out. this is obviously different from a sedan. there is a plaistic cover over the hinge and there are no screws under there either. this is a 1999 wagon. also where do I get this 12 point torx to dismantle the front seats? i just took the front seat out and took it half apart only to put it all back together again.....

View 5 RepliesHow to remove the rub strips to the center of the bumper, next to the front blinkers? I have removed the grill for the foglights, then the blinker assembly, and then what? Does the bumper need to come off in order to remove it from the back of the bumper?
