My friend has a 2001 passat and the release button for his gas flap(door) doesn't work. He looked through the trunk to see if there is an emergency cable or a possibility to get it open some other way, but no luck. How he could open it if the button doesn't work??
View 1 RepliesIts a 2009 sonata 2.4L auto. The button on the remote for boot works & I can open the fuel lid from the boot manually.

This morning I noticed my Trunk release button by the steering wheel, and the release button on my key fob won't work. Using the key manually does open my trunk though.
I checked, and it is not in the locked valet mode. I do hear a slight "click" when I push either button so it's trying to pop the trunk but no activity.
What this may be? Didn't know if it might be an electrical issue and if there was a fuse to check? Or if maybe it's a mechanical problem and i'll have to get it looked at.
I just noticed today that the trunk release button in the driver side door doesn't do anything. Does it suppose to pop the trunk or glass? Just wondering!!

View 1 RepliesI have a 2000 v6 glx passat. CCM recently got fried, brought to dealer and got replaced, they fixed all the leaks. I go to open with trunk with the remote and it doesn't work, so i go to the cabin and use the switch located at the bottom of the drivers door and that doesn't work either. I hear a clicking in the fuse box so i looked around and fuse 38 clicks when ever i hit the trunk release button, fuse is fine, replaced with another one too, trunk opens with key manually. when fuse 38 is removed, trunk still doesn't open remotely or with button but the clicking stops.
View 3 RepliesI had problems with the 12v battery, it was drained and I had to recharge it, which meant disconnecting the negative/ground/earth cable. Ever since the rear door opening button on the outside of the car won't work.
View 2 RepliesI bough this car (2003 Passat 1.8 turbo) recently and found that air is coming in on highway even air fan is off. I tried to turn on recirculation button, but it is not working (I can't even press it so it hold in ON position). I have read at some TDI forum that it might be air solenoid, but since my Passat is 1.8, location as I understand is different, But I can't find where it is.
May be I should check a fuse? if so where it is located?
Since I had my '02 I've had the child safety lock on the passenger side rear door on (active). I went to disable it (you know, stick the ignition key in and turn it 90 degrees to the side without the child's picture) and I'm still unable to open the door from the inside.
Everything else with the door works fine. The power locks work. Even pulling the handle twice pushes the lock button to the up position. And opening the door from the outside works as it's supposed to. The only thing I cannot do is open the door from the inside. Have I missed anything?
So a friend just got a 99 Passat 1.8t and I'm trying to assist them with some issues they're having. First of all the fuel door wont open with the electronic button. I searched around and found people mentioning the fuse, but the fuse box in the dash doesn't have a fuse for the fuel door. Is it part of central convenience? The drivers window switch doesn't control the other windows and the doors don't automatically unlock, they must be unlocked individually.Is this all related? I just want to rule this out before pulling up the carpet to check the wiring.
Also when replacing the drivers turn signal the tab that connects to the spring clip snapped off. Replace only these or is a whole new assembly required?
I have had my '12 S for two weeks and love the car. I am just starting to figure out the car and what I want to update/upgrade. But the button on the driver's door isn't working. Before I take it to the dealer, for fear of looking stupid if the fix is simple, is there a fuse I should check or something else I'm missing that would prevent the button from opening the trunk? The fob works and if I use the handle on the truck it opens fine. If there is a fuse I should check?

View 1 RepliesIt seems mine does open every time you press the button. You can hear some kind of motor noise but it not as loud has the noise it does make when it does open. Its intermittent .
Do you get at it from the truck? What is the Part number for a 1998 Passat?
Having this problem where the button to release the hand brake rattles constantly while driving? The only thing I can think is to replace the spring in it, but Idon't know how difficult that would be. Otherwise my only other thoughts are to find something thing enough that I can slide into it and hope it doesn't ever jam it up.
View 3 RepliesWhen I press trunk release button on dash or the trunk button on key, I hear the mechanism but trunk will not pop open. I press the button and pull up on the trunk, it is still latched. The key will not go all the way in lock on trunk, I assume it is seized.
I have sprayed 3 in1 penetrate in lock mechanism. Key still will not go in far. I cannot get back seat down. I am wondering if something got caught in latch that is restricting movement.

The rear driver side door on my Passat doesn't work right, it doesn't lock or unlock from the button on the front two doors....and the window only rolls down when that door is open and the car is running, how to fix?

View 15 RepliesThe outside door handle on the front passenger door has stopped working. You can pull it out but it won't open the door. You can still open the door from the inside.
View 3 RepliesMy remote locks only work intermittently when I press the buttons on the key fob. The locks on the drivers door and rear drivers side door also only work occasionally. If it turns out it's the module in the driver's door, is there a way to repair it? Or must it be replaced?
View 1 RepliesOn my passat, the right passenger door handle does not work from the inside. I recently had the window replaced on that door because window slipped.. But since i got the window fixed, the handle inside does not work properly. It opens the door, but you really have pull and push the door open. I only found one screw at the bottom of the panel inside to take it off, but the rest of the panel feels pretty tight, and i dont want to break anything either.
