what are the common problems that cause the rain sensors to not work. The speed one and two both work, but when i set it to auto the wiper will work one time but then never again. when i move the sensitivity switch to the left and then back to the right it will work once more.

I have the windows/sunroof close via rain sensor enabled through vagcom. I go to the MFD but every time I select it on, it'll reset and turn off when I turn the car off and on. Why? Can't get it to stay on.
Also, to not start a new thread. What the Manual Door Lock option in the MFD does? It gives you the option of all doors or individual. I looked in the manual but still don't understand what it does.
2 days ago I was driving to a friends house and it started to rain. I put on my wipers and after 5 minutes they stopped working. I pulled over and checked the fuse and it was burnt out. I had a spare 25A fuse and replaced it on the spot. I first check the horn since it's the same fuse connection. The horn worked ok then I went on with the wiper...the second I put on the wipers the fuse blew again not even letting the wiper make one cycle.
Could it be the wiper motors? What should I do other then bring it in. I want to do it myself.
Our rain sensing wiper has been working flawlessly since new. However, it decided to stop working two days ago. It just goes constant speed now.

Any tricks for keeping them on? It seems they might not hold on as well as one would like. (Can't examine it though, it's now freeway debris.)
The wiper-speed selector (aka: the little switch on the top of the right stalk) does not seem to influence the frequency in which the wiper activates on intermittent mode.
Lowest setting: 5 second interval
Highest setting: 5 second interval.
This is strange as it was working a week ago
Specifically any fuse for this function? Or is there a specific relay that takes care of this action?
My backup assist only works when it is raining!! I have read all the posts I could find on the back up system, but have not found one one my issue. I had my wife turn the key on, engine off and put the truck in reverse. I put my ear to each sensor and they are clicking. So I am assuming they are working right. I took the speaker out and cleaned it and put it back in. No beeping at all!!
It was raining really bad one day last week and as I was sitting at the curb in reverse waiting to back into the driveway a car passed me and the system started going off. It startled me and the kids. I backed in and it worked as it should. Later that night we went out to eat and it was still raining and the system worked as I backed into a spot near a light post.
The rain stopped and the truck dried out and now the back up assist is nonoperational again! What is going on? To me it seems the moisture is completing a circuit that is not being completed when dry!
99 crown Vic windshield wipers only works on high. What could cause this?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata. It is freezing outside now, and when I first get into my car the wiper fluid comes out just fine, but after my car warms up it does not come out at all. All other discussions I have found apply to the opposite, and no doubt more common, situation of ice buildup in the lines and then thawing when the car warms up. Is there something that could be expanding when the car gets hot and pinching the line? I do not have this problem in the summer.
View 2 RepliesMy son just got a 2001 Explorer Sport. Among the minor issues that need taken care of is an interesting situation with the wipers. The wipers only function when you press the wash button. It operates fine with wash, it parks fine after wash cycle. However, I get no response from any settings in the normal wiper switch. Where to start looking? Bad connector? Switch? It does have a tilt wheel, wire pulled out of connector?

Why it is not working?
Windshield wiper turns on, works for about 30 seconds, and then stops in mid-stride. You then turn off the wiper, then turn it back on, and it works for about another 30 seconds. Intermediate does not work, slow speed starts and fast speed starts, but they only work for about 30 seconds, stopping in any random wiper arm position. (When set on intermediate, slow speed works, again for about 30 seconds.) What do I fix, the control arm on the steering column?. The motor is working, the wiper arm is working, just the brain has "a mind of its own".

They are set on Auto and I set the setting to the far right + setting.
My question is this the right way to get them to come on quicker in the fog and rain?
While driving in the rain, AC in auto blowing cold air, hot air starts blowing. Cannot shut off blower (now on high), blowing very hot air. Radio control knobs stop working. In fact entire center control panel ceases to work. Shut the car off for 15 minutes and everything works fine. After the first time, car ran fine fine for 90 days before it did it a second time. Mechanic could not duplicate and reloaded software. May not know if car is fixed for months?
View 1 RepliesMy auto windshield wiper function has become real sensitive...When driving in the lightest rain or even mist, my wipers start intermittently, then go faster and faster until they are going steadily, and in medium-light rain, often go to high speed. They never did this in the past, this has recently started. I turn them off, then back on and the process repeats. The auto wiper was always wonderful in the past, but not now.
Is there some kind of adjustment for this problem? Is my windshield sensor going bad?
So over the past week of driving my new 2011 RX350 I have had the auto wipers set to on so when/if it rains they automatically come on. However at random times when there is no rain the wipers come alive an make a sweep across the windshield.
View 14 RepliesMy dealer says the windshield on my 2012 RX 350, which has < 8k miles, has to be replaced in order to fix the auto rain sensing function. Even though it is covered under warranty I'm confused and not happy with this. What is in the windshield that causes the problem? Could it just be the control sensor behind the rear view mirror, which they detached in their troubleshooting?

View 19 RepliesI'm having problems with the auto dimmer mirror in my camry 2004, it work some times but most of the time didn't work and is really difficult to use it during the night because the lights from cars behind shine directly in my eyes. The compass in the mirror works all the time but the dimmer not, I notice that the green light in the bottom of the mirror is off most of the time.
