I just got a fix-it-ticket for my light. So I replaced it but apparently that's not the problem. I'm wondering if there is a wire running across the front of the car (or anywhere else) that the light gets its power from. I only ask because I know my car has had some problems in that area, so I could narrow my search down. Everything else has been checked; fuses, bulbs, plugs, etc.
View 2 RepliesI had the occasion to drive my wife's car, a 2006 Passat. After mucking around for a while, I learned that you can't release the parking brake if the foot brake pedal isn't depressed. Fair enough. But then I saw the "passenger Air Bag OFF" light. Got out the manual and noted the bag was off if no one was sitting in the seat. OK, fair enough again, but WHY? Why bother turning the bag on and off? Why not just leave the bag on and save a few dollars in manufacture? I think it may have to do with a child's car seat, and maybe you don't want the bag if a kid seat is in place.
View 19 RepliesI received an Air bag Fault and Parking Break Fault yesterday when I started the car. Found my (drivers) belt latch sensor wiring was buggered so I fixed that. I don't know if that was the technical name for it, but it was the wiring from the receiving latch to the connector. The parking break fault went away so my guess is that short pissed it off. But who knows, it could be unrelated.
However, the air bag fault will not go away. I thought by fixing that it would vanish, but I guess not.
I have found that the light goes out for a moment and then reappears when the "passenger air bag off" light comes on. The other day, it thought my wife was still in the seat after she got out so I'm guessing the passenger seat wiring is the culprit.
I don't have a VAG-COM so the above detail is all I have. I really don't want to go to the dealer, but do I have a choice?
I have a knocking noise coming from the passenger side front end under light braking, getting off a highway ramp and getting on a highway ramp. It also knocks once when your turn. It has never done this before so I took it to the Linden VW and blamed the brakes, but it was NOT. Now the dealer messed with something and it shakes at high speeds and hard braking.!?!
View 7 RepliesI have 04 Passat and my passenger side fog light bulb keeps blowing up I had to replace it 4 times already. Same thing happened when I upgraded to PIAA H3 yellow bulbs as well. I checked all connections, wiring and everything looks ok.
View 8 RepliesSo today, at a red light, i let off the brakes- I feel and hear a loud pop from the passenger rear. My first reaction, whatever brakes stick, happens.
Then it did it again, then again, a bit louder and a more dramatic feeling. It's my only driver as my TT is out right now in the body shop.
I was driving the other day and the lens on the turnlight assembly apparently fell off. I've ordered a replacement assembly and I'm planning on trying to replace it tonight. How to get the assembly out and how to install the new one.

View 2 RepliesI have an 07 Passat Wagon. The headlight malfunction indicator light came on for my passenger side low beam. I replaced the bulb, which was visibly burn out (broken filament), but with a new bulb in, the light still is not working and the malfunction indicator is still on. What is the cause of this? I have the regular headlamps, not the xenon lights.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to replace the rear light bulb (top of two) on the passenger side. It doesn't illuminate when I press the brake. What kind of light bulb does it take?? There is a removable compartment but I am having a hard time removing the harness where the bulbs are located . I see two clips but I still can not pull it out to access the defective bulb.

Here's the kicker: It only happens when I turn LEFT!!!! I checked and there is nothing obvious that sticks out to touch the tire when it turns...
I have a Sonata v6 3.3 2007 Its passenger Air Bag light is on, how much its gonna cost me to fix it ?? and sometimes when i stop at the signal light the oil light starts blinking, why is that, and as soon as I start driving it goes away.
View 11 RepliesI just had my oil changed today and while driving home the red airbag light came on in the instrument cluster and the passenger airbag light on the dash started flashing. When I connected the passenger seatbelt the flashing light went off. While in the dealer also tightened some screws in the center console. I have an under the seat subwoofer that is VERY snug...could that have damaged something when the seat was slid back?

And today I noticed when I was driving the car by myself the passenger seatbelt light was blinking and the passenger airbag light off bag wasn't lit? Even though there was no one in the passenger seat? I'm just wondering if there was ever a recall and if I should take it to the dealership.
View 1 RepliesI just picked up my first B5 and noticed an issue when I got it home. I know that I'm supposed to be able to put the key in the drivers door and hold it in the lock position and it should close the windows and sunroof. It works if I do it on the passenger side, but not in the drivers door. I also can't unlock/lock all the doors from the drivers door either. I'm thinking it might be a vacuum problem, but not sure how the inside of the Passat doors looks.
View 3 RepliesMy back right passenger window won't go down, it just makes a noise like its trying, you can pull the window down, and then it goes up electrically about half the time, otherwise you have to manually pull it up.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2007 VW Passat Wolfsburg Edition. The passenger side headlight went out today. This is my first VW, but I've never had a headlight go out this early. A few questions:
1) Is this normal?
2) How much is a new bulb?
3) Can I replace it myself or should I go to the dealer?
So I am replacing all the pull handles, switches and basically anything that has that soft tuch crap peeling. I did the driver side fine. When I go over to the passenger side, I popped off that little side piece, but when i go to use the torx driver, one has a nut. How the hell do I get a socket down there??

View 4 RepliesI have the 2012 sel and had hid's installed. Lets just say they dont work right and the passenger side flickers every now and then and the error code in the dash comes in and out fog lights work and now all of the sudden the passenger one doesnt work. They worked perfect the first day, my guy checked them yesterday, i left they were fine till i got back on the highway to head home and they started messing up again. We tried relay's but when car would be turned on the relay would make a sound ad if a bad ground.
