Passat (B5) :: No Subwoofer Output?
Sep 27, 2011
So today I was pulling the stereo head unit out of my dub to see if it had a sub woofer output...turns out it doesn't and in the process i broke the head unit. Now I have to put in a new head unit and install the sub, I am completely lost. What kind of head unit do i get to match the cords already installed?? How do i know it will fit??

My engine making a deep subwoofer-like sound but it was hard to describe. This morning I took a video and you can instantly hear it, you might need to put headphones on to hear the sound but its very obvious once you do.

Recently my Passat has been making this really weird deep subwoofer-like sound when I turn it on... you can hear it from outside and inside the car... and it completely stops once I start driving or turn the car off and back on. What this might be? It seems to come from the right side of the car more than the left.

What harnesses or adapters do I need to get my some aftermarket speakers plus my aftermarket subwoofer hooked up. I have a 4 channel for the speakers and a mono for the subwoofer.
Trying to figure out whether to go this route or buy the wiring harnesses and dash kit needed for my old pioneer d3 double din HU and hooking up RCA's that way.

Everything was fine yesterday. Get in the car today and no output from the speakers. Everything looks fine with the unit, it shows the volume changing with the knob, but no sound.

My wifes car started leaking gear lube in the driveway. I traced the leak to the passenger side output flange seal. At first I thought the cause was a bad CV joint but when I tried to shake the axle, I noticed the whole flange moving...How can this be repaired? Does the whole tranny need to be removed or just the output pod?

My subwoofer volume control seems to have gone missing from the infotainment system menus and I'm not sure why. The standard bass, mid, treble controls are still there but the subwoofer menu item is gone. BTW, I can still feel the subwoofer kicking but I can no longer control the amount.

Had a subwoofer installed, did the trunk rattle on the outside of the car?

I have a 1994 Celica ST Coupe and looking for good dual or single subwoofer enclosure box that would fit neatly in the trunk against the back of rear seat.
I currently have a 12" Alpine in a huge box in the back- but it simply isnt practical. If I ever needed to remove my spare tire, I would have to disconnect the speaker and remove the entire enclosure.

Are there any guides out there on how to remove the stock subwoofer? I have been searching numerous places and coming up fairly blank on how to remove it. So far I have found that I need to remove the seatbelt bolt, but looking in the trunk it appears I need to remove the piece of trim that runs along the trunk lid floor and both the B and C pillar in order to remove the trim that goes over the subwoofer.
Does the trim clip into place on the trunk lip, pillars and over the sub? Looking for any more information on getting to the stock sub? I have found a half dozen threads of people swapping them out, but no one posted how they got to the subwoofer in the first place.

I'm trying to access my rear subwoofer in my 07 LS 460 with Mark Levinson. It seems to be blown or ripped somewhere as it makes a loud noise when it hits. Will the top grill just pop off? Or do I gotta do a full removal? If so, how do I get to it.

I just recently upgraded the speakers and deck in my 2012 Hyundai Accent GLS but after installing a 12" Rockford Fosgate subwoofer in my trunk all I can hear is an overly annoying rattle caused by the cheap plastic trunk lid. It seems the lid is vibrating against my rear window because when I shove a towel along the edge across my window the noise stops.

So it's happened a couple of times already when the temperature has dropped below 20 degrees my subwoofer stops working until the temperatures come back up.
Is there some sort of protection I should know about because I skimmed through the owner's manual and didn't see anything about it. Seems to work perfect what's the temperature back up later.

I drive a Sport and have installed a subwoofer and amplifier to work with the stock head unit and speakers. However, I find the subwoofer sounds a bit muffled and I think I need to create a bit of an air flow between the trunk and the cockpit.
I did notice the rear deck has a big hole where the 8 inch subwoofer sits in higher trims. The hole is however, covered with a plastic dummy or cap or placeholder or whatever it is Hyundai calls it. If I can remove that, I can make some air flow and believe the subwoofer might sound better. How to remove it?

Why my subwoofer won't work? Dealer is stumped. Dealer changed out the speaker and amp. They have been waiting on the Ford Hot line for over a week to get a direction and nothing yet. The speaker does move ever so slightly on highest level.

One thing I noticed with my truck was that the sound was really poor (truck is fitted with "premium sound") - I followed the common thread and replaced all 4 speakers with the Infinity 6829CF's, when doing it, it definitely improved the mid and high range clarity, but in the lower end there was nothing.
I then discovered no movement in the sub... I am a little electrically challenged, and wondered if you have some pointers (i.e. does it have its own fuse/relay to check)

I have a 1999 ford f250 superduty extended cab and am trying to find possible subwoofer locations (not wanting to lose floor space) but I can't find any pre-made boxes. Any pictures I can use as reference. Really wanting to install subwoofers. What can I do?

How do connect the oem subs on my 08 350 with an after market audio system which has an RCA line dedicated for subs? What are sub wire colors behind the dash?

Recently installed 35w Canbus Slim Ballast 6000k HIDs into my 2014.5 Camry SE projector headlights (black bezel). For some reason it seems like the Halogens lit up better. I get very poor lighting, and when I drive on the highway at night it barely lights up the signs. I don't know if I need to adjust the angle of the projector because the beams seem kind of low or if I need to upgrade the ballast to a 55w. Also not sure if the housing or the stock wiring can handle the 55w without causing damage.

I have a 86 Suzuki samurai that I have just swapped a vw 1.9 turbo diesel into with a gm 3 wire 10si 110amp alternator.
Wire number 2 is looped back onto the 12v post and has 12v at all times
Wire number 1 is hooked into my dash light.
Key on engine off it reads 0v with the dash light on, key on engine on it reads just below battery voltage and dash light is off. The 12v post is hooked into my stock wiring connected to my brand new battery. Today I had my battery and my alternator bench tested and they both came back functioning normally.
My issue is I'm never reading above battery voltage with the engine on (either from the post on the alternator or my battery). I grabbed a used alternator locally and I was having the same issue. However with that one if I pulled the positive lead from the battery with the engine running it would read 14.3v until I would hook it back to the battery where it would drop back to battery voltage. I was able to repeat that behaviour mutlitple times until I ended up killing the alternator. My other alternator is new and I don't wish to damage it pulling the positive lead but I'm betting it's functioning the same way.
What in my system could be causing this? The truck is pretty old and doesn't have a ecm or much of any electrical and I just can't figure out what's going on. Its like some kind of feedback is shutting down the alternator when it gets hooked up to the battery.
So far I've tried temporarily adding grounds with jumper cables :
Measured 0.2ohm resistance between my ground cable and the alternator housing
Measured 0.0ohm resistance between my positive lead and the 12v post on alternator
I've also tried pulling all the relays and accessories I've added to the positive lead with no change. Camping weather is quickly approaching and I need my truck back on the road!
