Passat (B5) :: Interior Trunk Light Won't Work
Mar 31, 2012
Trying to get my trunk light to work. I pulled the bulb and the filament is intact. I hooked a meter up to the connector and I'm getting 10 volts. The bulb is a 12v.

View 4 RepliesTook the stereo out and snipped a white/red wire abd connected them back together and now my interior lights, windows, wipers and trunk button wont work.
View 3 RepliesNo interior lights work, so I checked the fuse # 14 according to the manual. Fuse is good, and the hot side of the fuse socket has 12+ volts. I pulled down the main interior light switch that's housed with the sunroof switch, and there's no voltage there at all.
View 1 RepliesI recently tried to install some LED bulbs in my ride. And they all worked except the map lights in the front. I removed them all and now no lights work when I open my doors except my foot wells.. Any one know whats up?

Recently, the interior lights would randomly work and then not work when ANY door would open. Now all interior lights work at all, but the dash lights DO WORK as well as all the lights in the dash. It appears that the issue is isolated to just the map/reading lights. So no map and reading lights whether ANY door is open or if the switch is placed in the on position, this goes for the front, rear upper side lights, and the trunk light. The glove box and under door lights don't work as well. Consequently my drivers side window stopped working as well but I am thinking that may be a separate issue seeing as how the window kind of had a mind of its own before this all happened.
Things that I have checked:
1) I first thought that the microswitch in the drivers door was toast but the door alarm still works when the drivers door is open, the power locks still work, and the headlight alarm works when they are on and drivers door is open.
2) I checked the two main fuses for the 'Comfort Control' Systems. They were both fine.
3) I check for continuity across both of those circuits at the fuse block, the circuit is complete.
4) I checked the continuity of the fuses, they were fine.
The only thing I haven't physically checked is the CCM itself. I want to believe that this isn't the issue since I am religious about cleaning out my drains in the battery tray and door jambs.
On my passat, the right passenger door handle does not work from the inside. I recently had the window replaced on that door because window slipped.. But since i got the window fixed, the handle inside does not work properly. It opens the door, but you really have pull and push the door open. I only found one screw at the bottom of the panel inside to take it off, but the rest of the panel feels pretty tight, and i dont want to break anything either.

Windows no longer roll down.
Trunk doesn't open.
Interior lights don't turn on.
I have a 2000 v6 glx passat. CCM recently got fried, brought to dealer and got replaced, they fixed all the leaks. I go to open with trunk with the remote and it doesn't work, so i go to the cabin and use the switch located at the bottom of the drivers door and that doesn't work either. I hear a clicking in the fuse box so i looked around and fuse 38 clicks when ever i hit the trunk release button, fuse is fine, replaced with another one too, trunk opens with key manually. when fuse 38 is removed, trunk still doesn't open remotely or with button but the clicking stops.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2007 santa fe, the oem interior light does not work. I looked in the fuse box but there is no fuse for that light. Will buying a different interior light work and does there need to be a door jam switch in order for it to work. I have looked at other vehicles from that make model and year. They all have a unit that has a "door" button on that device.
View 4 RepliesOn my passat the door lock and unlock buttons only work for the trunk and my key fob will arm and disarm the factory system as well as pop the trunk. I looked at all fuses and relays but everything is checking out....
View 5 RepliesMy '11 Limited has a trunk light that isn't working. I figured it was a bad bulb so replaced it (the old bulb's filament wasn't broken tho). Nope, still didn't work. So I took out the entire little bulb holder to check for bad connections, corrosion, etc. .....the connections are fine. Next I got my volt/ohm meter and checked for DC voltage at the plug coming into the unit.....I got 12.83 volts. So I hooked a jumper directly from the plug to a bulb's contacts and still no light.
What am I missing here ? How can I read voltage at the meter and not have the juice to light a tiny bulb?
I just noticed the trunk (inside) light was out. So I replaced it and it still doesn't work. I put a 'test light' on the pig tail and one side lights up so I guess there is power there. Once the' light holder' and lamp is in there it still doesn't work. Also when I put the 'test lamp' on one side of the metal holder the 'test light' lights up.
When I put it on the other side it makes the bulb almost glow like half voltage. What it could be? What is that resistor there for ?
My front interior light/map lights combination does not come on when the doors open. The rear seat and cargo area lights work when the doors open. Do the front interior lights are not designed to work in conjunction with the other lights when the door is opened?
View 6 RepliesI got Corolla 2012. Dome light fuse 10 amp is blowing off as soon as you put it in. Light bulbs checked seems it is not a problem. Maybe relay?
View 11 RepliesI have a 1998 B5 passat when I purchased the car everything was fine shortly after the interior lights would not come on,but the lighting outside was fine. I immediately thought it was the switch so I purchased a new one from ECS tuning right out of the box same problem, but I discovered if wiggle the switch sometime it would come on. Thinking it was a short in the switch I purchased a switch directly from VW at almost four times the cost and right out of the box same issue.
View 1 RepliesAny instructions on how to remove my trunk light? Its one of those things you can only deal with for so long, especially when the 6disc is back there.
View 4 Replies2001 Passat 1.8T ... The switch is in the correct position and the light comes on when the passenger door is opened. What causes the light to activate? I cannot find a switch anywhere on the door frame. Maybe a magnetic switch in the door?
View 2 RepliesSo last night my son left the one of the interior lights on and when I locked the doors they started flickering...
Totally clueless of what is happening, just now I was taking a video of the issue to post here when I noticed on the dmf showing the trunk lid like open flickering also is that where the problem may be...? I checked the bulb in the trunk and is on and working including the led stripes that put there to get more light... I taped on the trunk bulb...

Key wont unlock the trunk - first time this problem has appeared, interior latch does not open trunk either/ Squirt of WD40 into lock does not work.
View 1 RepliesWhat controls the trunk light? Usually there is a contact switch near the trunk lid but I have not been able to find it on my Passat.
View 4 RepliesMy interior lights work only when I switch them on but not when the door is opened. Is the switch up near the map light easy to service? Any tricks or shortcuts?
