2001 Passat 1.8T ... The switch is in the correct position and the light comes on when the passenger door is opened. What causes the light to activate? I cannot find a switch anywhere on the door frame. Maybe a magnetic switch in the door?
View 2 RepliesFor some reason the dome light doesn't come on when I open the Drivers door. All the other activate the dome light just fine. Can I assume the switch is in the latching mechanism inside the door? I want to make sure I'm tearing into the correct area before I start and looking for tips as well obviously.
View 1 RepliesHave a problem with a couple electric items in my 2001 Honda CR-V. The interior dome light no longer comes on when I open any of the doors. HOWEVER, when I turn the key off, the dome light DOES come on, stays on for a few seconds or until I open any door. What causes this? Fuse? Circuit board? Short in one of the door sensors?This seemed to have started sometimes after I got it back from a body shop from a minor collision that affected the sheet metal only, did not require major mechanical fixing. The clock in the center of the dash went out... maybe at the same time, perhaps just similar time. Have not been able to confirm if it works when removed from the car.
View 6 RepliesDid a search and read the manual and I cant seem to turn of the dome lights when I open the doors. For example... Sometimes my daughter falls asleep and I want to open the door at night without the lights coming on... Or If the mosquitoes are going crazy I might want to turn off the light so I don't get killed... I know I can hold the switch to the right and it turns lights on with doors closed, and hold for a second to the left to turn off. But what about opening the door? I know my old 2007 was able to do this function...
View 13 RepliesSo I left my lights on because there was no warning buzzer to tell me so. This happened once before when the driver door would not turn on the dome light. I went for the door switch and it was bent. Bent it back and buzzer worked and dome light worked.This time nothing. Switch is ok. traced wire from switch and it is ok.
2000 Echo stickshift.
It's that horrible sound when you first turn the key. Those few beeps. Or it's the same sound if the car's turned on and you open the driver's door. That beeping sound! I'll just be driving down the street or highway and it just turns on! And it'll stay on!! Sometimes it'll go off if I open and close my door. Sometimes it'll go off if I unlock and lock the doors. When the sound turns on for no reason, the interior lights also come on as if a doors open.

My Coming Home and Leaving Home functions are turned off due to the HID Headlights, but the interior lights worked fine since the HID installation in 11/13. It is a 2013 Passat SE 2.5. Is there a setting in VCDS for the interior light function.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2002 Wagon and when I open the driver's door the interior lights no long go on. They do go on when I open the passenger door. Occasionally the "door open" warning light goes on as well until I open and slam the driver's door several times.
1. Is this likely to be the sensor?
2. How tough is this to replace?
I get in the car and the light is off. I open the drivers side door and the light wont go on. I am driving and open the door no warning no light. Where the sensor is for the door? I don't have a bently. How to trouble shoot this or diag it?
View 24 RepliesI Have a weird problem on my Lexus GS430 06. The car remains indicating that my door on the drivers side is open... especially with the dome light. When i put my interior lighting on "door" then the light on the drivers side remains on.. when i try to lock my car, the car beeps en says that there's stil a door open... and the interior lights start flashing in the car... meaning i had a dead battery the next morning...
Lets start from entering the car, while my dome light is on the "door" position. When i enter the car, en press the start button 1 time, the car ajar light is going on, and the car is beeping that there's a door open... when al my doors ar closed... but when this is happening, and i press "off" on my dome light, then its gone... when i put it back on "door" then it comes back...
Okay, now lets pres the start button again.. then, the car shows on the display that my drivers side door is open. When i put my dome light to "off" again, you see the door closing nice and easy... when i turn it to "door" again you see the door opening again...
Lets take it a step further... When i push the start button again, and thereby starting the car, then on the display, everything is okay, while the dome light, on the drivers side is still burning... When i then open my drivers side door, you'll see it open and close nice and easy on the display. So meaning.. that its not the switch on the door right?
Okay... this is where i'm at so far.... I have switched the switches from the doors from left to right, and it still remains the same... Also i have tried another dome unit from a Lexus GS450h... and its still the same... so thats both not it...
Also I have opened my driver side door panel, en removed all the connectors, en still the same thing....
2005 Nissan Quest with 80k. No interior dome/map or door lights work. The instrument cluster and center column lights all work. Basically all the bright lights are gone but you can see speed, radio, etc. Have changed every fuse inside the van with no luck. Inspected the fuses in the engine compartment and none seem to be bad. This all happened after i some IKEA boxs, wonder if something got knocked loose that i cant find.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2006 passat and today when i was switching the bulbs out with different colored ones and the lights just went out along with the visor lights. I have checked all the fuses and bulbs to make sure they just didnt blow. There isnt much on the internet about this topic. What i have found out on the net is it could maybe be the (CCM). But i am unable to find that also.

View 3 RepliesEvery time I replace the fuse(under the hood) it blows almost immediately and no interior light work. When on all doors and overhead lights do work so I don't believe it's one of them shorting. Even tried bigger fuse.
View 5 RepliesI know this has been beaten to death for years, but I can't find anything to my specific problem. My dome light stays on but rest of my interior/running board lights will go off after 30 seconds on my 2000 Excursion 2wd with V10.
When I got truck it had the door ajar light on which I fixed with the WD40 trick. Then I realized I had no dome light up front - pulled off the cover and there were no bulbs. Replaced the bulbs but couldn't get the lights to go out. All the other interior lights would go off.
I've swapped relays, checked the fuses, used the WD40, and I've made sure dimmer switch wasn't all the way up. Only thing I can see is that passenger side bulb "foil" power thing for that dome light bulb is torn so that bulb won't work.
I recently purchased a 2007 Honda Fit and everything is good except for one thing. The headlights, interior dome light, and one light on the climate control dashboard pulse when the engine is on. The brightness pulses to be exact, and it becomes more intense at higher speeds, and when the car is in gear and not in neutral (this is a manual stick). It is not noticeable during the day, but a pain at night.
I took it in to get looked at and two different mechanics (including a Honda dealership) said they cannot figure out what is wrong with it. They tested the battery, alternator and voltage regulator, and they all tested fine. The guy at the Honda dealership played with the wire to the battery and it got a little bit better. They said replacing the alternator (which seems to be fine) is the only fix they can think of ($650).
I have a 2007 Hyundai Accent. The interior dome light won't turn on, the trip mileage recycles every time the car turns on, the feature that won't let the locks lock while the key is in the ignition and the car is off doesn't work (what's that called), and the dashboard clock is dead.
The visor fell off and the two wires that provided the lighting for the visor mirror touched something, and I guess, shorted everything. Is there a fuse(s) I can change or do I need some serious electrical repair?
Short, the dome and interior light fuse keeps blowing. Car is 2009 hyundai sonata nf. Is the bcm computer gone? The fuse pops as soon as i put a fuse in the car. The car can be off or on..it doesn't matter.
View 57 RepliesI got Corolla 2012. Dome light fuse 10 amp is blowing off as soon as you put it in. Light bulbs checked seems it is not a problem. Maybe relay?
View 11 RepliesMy 2004 has suddenly decided I should drive with dome lights on all the time, as if starring in an episode of COPS. Seems something is reading my driver door is not closed, even though it is closed. Besides lights on, unable to use controls to roll down window or lock vehicle. Also, there is now a whistle emanating from the bowels of this silver beast. Seems back near the fire wall or underneath. Sadly, this 2004 JGC does not even have 150,000 miles and things are going south for the winter to retire in Florida. Had one form 1993 and it lasted over 400,000 miles and my 1999 had 250,000 before I met Mr. Ice. On top of these goings on's the right rear wheel is causing a scraping noise, but not 100% of the time.

Looking for a pic of your interior roof lighting? (Not the center console one near the sunroof control...that of course lights up and shows icons.) I'm looking for the ones towards the rear of the car.
