So, I'll put my Passat away for the winter and I want to repair some rust that appeared on the windows moldings, and to do a nice job, I want to remove those. I checked out a little bit, removed moldings but I was not able to remove those.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2010 prius with a misty gray interior. Accidentally when getting out I scuffed the door and on another occasion I scuffed the plastic molding by the gas tank lever.
The scuffs are black marks and they bother me every time I look at them. Is there a way to get them out? I tried rubbing them out with some cleaner on a paper towel but no luck.
I have to remove the outside door handle in order to make a repair on the door. I did remove the torx screw from the side of the door but still doesnt come out.

My passenger side rear door handle does not work. My mechanic fixed it once, said the cable had jumped off the pulley. I figured it can't be that difficult to fix if I can get the door panel off.

You'll need a t30 torx driver, trim/pry tools and a pair of needle nose pliers. It's really easy and the parts are pretty durable.
As I pull off the panel you can see that something falls out of the bottom. It's one of the t30 torx screws that gets rotated 90 degrees. It simply pops back into the hole.
I had to wrap it up quickly at the end...a bee flew in the shot and I'm allergic. I think you can see the panic in me even though I'm not actually facing the camera.

View 5 RepliesI have an '03 Passat 1.8T. The windows will not operate off any of the door switches. I have swapped out the driver's door switch, and still to no avail, the windows will not operate. The windows DO however, operate off of the key when hold it in the lock and unlock position. I checked the fuses, those are good.
View 2 RepliesA while back my driver side door lock mech broke and the key literally would turn 360 degrees. The same day I looked out and all the windows were down. I put them up confused but then five minutes later they were down again.
Who would have guessed that the mech that unlocks the door also puts down the windows? Certainly not me. Is this feature normal? After fixing the door lock windows stay up but it was a learning experience.
I'm looking for the process to remove the exterior black glossy b pillar trim on the front door. My wife decided to open my door against a ladder and it has a 3mm scratch that's going to big the piss out of me so I'm looking to replace it. Also looking for the PN as well.
View 2 RepliesWell it looks like the controller in the driver door is going bad. The key will only lock or unlock the driver door, the windows will not go up/down, nor will the alarm set/unset. The remote works as normal; it locks or unlocks one or all doors and sets or unsets the alarm. The lock/unlock button on the driver door works normally. The doors lock as they should above 10mph.
I've sprayed electrical contact cleaner in the lock several times. This did not improve anything. I wasn't very positive it would; the locks are lubed once about once a year anyway.
If you lock/unlock the door enough times with the key, you can sometimes get all the doors to lock/unlock and the alarm to set but it is very unpredictable. The problem might be in the controller.
I am almost 100% I have found the source of the rear wind intrusion that some of us are hearing. From day one, I have had a wind hissing noise from the rear door windows. After taking it to the dealer and them saying it was "normal", I have been on a mission to find the source of the noise. Well it is coming from a location that I never thought it would come from.
After trial and error, I found it is coming in around that shinny black triangle part in the rear door. There is a gap between the rubber and that plastic shinny triangle part. I used shinny black pinstripe that I got from an auto parts store to cover the gap. I test drove several times at speeds above 65mph and did not hear the noise. Unless you were looking close, you'd never know the pinstripe was there.
So today I went to work forgot my lights on and when i got done working my car battery was dead. I jump started the car and now the windows dont roll up with one click and when I lock car doors only driver door locks how could i fix this problem do I need to reprogram ?

My red Golf came in from the port with black body side moldings. The dealer has the body shop removing them now. What should i look for, when inspecting the car? Is it even reasonable to assume this can be done without leaving any noticeable marking?
