For those people who received a holeless grill in a 2 plate state how did you mount your front plate. I am supposed to have the holeless grill installed this Wednesday. I was thinking about using zip ties and mount it underneath it's original location but I am afraid that I will be blocking the radiator. I could do it by the side grill.
View 24 Replieswhere to get it? I want to plug up my bumper holes and just put the plate on the tow hook.

Any pics of the Platypus tow hook mount on their car?
My Ultra white IS350 is 15 months old, and when I took out the screws to my license plate today, I noticed a little bit of rust on the mounts (where the screws would go into).
I believe this is a pretty common issue for all cars - essentially, the mount was sprayed with body paint, but the paint would be stripped when you put a screw in. It's just a matter of time before that happens.
I am just concerned it would rust through my trunk if I continue to leave it.
FYI: I already use stainless steel screws
I recently broke my rear shock mount plate, it is rusted to crap. So I need to fix it, I was gonna weld it but there isn't enough metal to weld. It looks like it can bolt in bolt out. I am having trouble find a replacement.
View 3 RepliesI have a set of ST coilovers, installed on my tiguan s4motion they ride great but have noticed clunk noise coming from tight strut and I'm pretty sure it's the pillow mount plate, is there anywhere to get replacements or a better plate? ST website doesn't have them separately...
View 1 RepliesI just bought a Euro Headlight switch from ECS, it doesn't turn off the day time running lights, they come on when I release the e-brake just like the oem switch allows..
View 7 Replieswhich number pins on the back of the euro switch are for front and rear fogs????
what is the easiest way with out drilling to run 1 small wire from the back of my euro switch thru the firewall and into my engine bay?? or if drilling is necessary where is the easiest and safest place to drill?
Just installed a euro wood/leather wheel in my wife's 03 Passat wagon. It had the MFD wheel previously.I've done the install numerous times as far as going from MFD wheels to GTI or R32 wheels and never had this problem.
Ran a jumper from pin 9 to 18 and modified the plug to the clockspring....I got the cruise working no problem and that's the toughest... I've double checked everything and think it has to be with the wheel itself. I see the wheel has TWO tabs for the horn ground. I'm only using one right now as that's how my R wheel is in my 03 Jetta (just pulled the bad and checked it). What could be causing the horn not to work?
What are fellow passat owners doing to mount gauges? I've only seen one single pod. Is there a vent pod i'm missing?
View 14 Replieswhere to mount the sunroof deflector. It's has two clamp like screws. Pic's would be great. This is the driver gear one.
View 8 RepliesSo I bought LED license plate lights, the same ones Track5tar has (who sent me the link to get them). I got em off the bay, and I put them in and they don't work! The Heatsink gets hot but the lights don't light up in both of them!
View 24 RepliesSo I was replacing the lights with the new leds change one toke some pics to compare. Everything fine...
Removed the other feston put the new led and they won't turn on anymore..
Change them back. Put them upside down, up, sideways... Nothing
Check all three fuse boxes all ok
Every other light on, inside trunk on, side markers on...
Everything but the license plate lights.
How do I get rid of license plate holes on my front bumper? I took my front plate off and now I am stuck with annoying holes drilled into my front bumper. Its not noticeable but i know its there so it irritates me.
View 4 RepliesMy passenger-side motor mount is cracked out. Is this a common failure? The aluminum part that connects the "frame" to the engine mount is cracked, the hydraulic rubber mount looks almost new, not sure how the previous owner missed the crack in the aluminum. Car has 140K miles on it. I'm thinking about just having it welded up.
View 8 RepliesCan this be changed easily by a non-dealer? The local Autozone doesn't list any replacement bulbs or assemblies, and I can't see a simple way of accessing the light assembly from the trunk.
View 1 RepliesFinally took the Wolf in to see about an engine rattle thats been getting worse. The culprit - loose engine mount bolts! Dealer decided to order new bolts, not just tighten the old ones. Also mentioned a recall for the transmission software. Odd that the "recall" wasn't listed on-line for my VIN. It must be the one that smooths the tranny a bit, it is a bit jumpy at low speed.
View 2 RepliesThe passenger-side motor mount on my '99 1.8t has blown (again). I'm on my second mount already and want to make sure I address all other possible causes before I go through another one. Looking for keeping this new mount intact a bit longer? (BTW the original mount lasted approx. 120k miles and the replacement has "only" lasted 85k miles)...
View 4 RepliesI had my ST coilovers installed a while back. I love the ride, but a really annoying squeaking/groaning sound developed several weeks ago from the front strut mount area. The noise is heard at low speeds as I roll down the road (most likely high speeds, too) and sounds like its coming from both sides of the upper strut mount area. If you lift up/push down on the car, you can also hear the sound.
I purchased a set of 034 Density upper strut mounts from AMI Motorsports in hopes of eliminating the sound, but the sound got worse!! I still do not have a resolution. At this point, I'm thinking about putting the stock strut mounts back in, as the sound wasn't near as bad with the OE mounts in place.
I've lubricated the sway bar bushings and installed shorter end links (thinking the sound may be sway bar related), but the noise is still there. I even disconnected the end links all together - sound is still there. Could this be faulty coilovers? I tried to file a warranty claim through ST - they don't think their strut is faulty, and even if they did, I'm having a hard time with warranty coverage (long story). If it's the struts, then why did the sound get worse when the new 034 Density upper strut mounts were installed? Could it be faulty mounts?
At this point, I think it's either the mount or the strut, as I did not experience any issues prior to the coilovers.
So I just replaced my oil pump and i am reassembling my front end and I just cant get my passenger side engine mount bolt to stop spinning so i can get the nut on (the mount underneath the car) , I have no clue how to stop the spinning
