O2 PASSAT 1.8t had crankcase vent recall performed now there is a hissing noise coming from that area that reacts with engine speed. Also I notice that hose that plugs into the intake manifold, from the new gizmo they installed ,COLLAPSES when the engine starts?

2008 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T... I am trying to figure out whats going on with my car for a few weeks now. I have a few things going on and I am not if they are related.
First off I am hearing a odd noise now and then from my engine area. Its so hard to explain, but its kind of like when a plastic bag gets stuck to your car, a fluttery higher pitched noise (and it lasts only a few seconds). It happens now on heavy acceleration (almost always), normal acceleration and even sometimes at start up. Its mostly random and started awhile back but I use to only hear the sound every couple weeks. Now its daily.
Related or not I also have noticed this really bad lag with heavier acceleration, after lagging it then down shifts VERY hard before taking off.
So I have a hissing sound (kind of what the vacuum cleaner makes when air path is obstructed with debris) coming from passenger side foot area. The easiest way to hear it is to turn on HVAC and put the fan on the lowest setting so the sound of the fan does not interfere with the noise.

I am having problems pin pointing the source, but it sounds like its coming from the center block. What is the right direction to the leak? It starts exactly at 1500 and cuts off at 2200 rpm (while in gear). 1500 to 3000 rpm while in park..
I have a Takeda intake installed and I re-tighten the fittings.
My 04 hyundai accent about 2-3 months ago acquired a hissing noise which seems to be coming from the middle of the engine compartment. The car only has 100,000 miles on it.
It is a constant hiss that only stops when the gas pedal is pushed initially. I have looked all over the car and can not see any fluids leaking at all. It is pretty loud and can be heard easily outside the car when the car is on.
I hooked up my obd2 reader and found these codes:
P0304-Cylinder 4 misfire (I notice it when the car sits at idle for about a minute)
2x P0121- Throttle Position circuit range/performance problem
2x- Evaporative emission incorrect purge flow.
Thats the sound coming from I think the front left area and the rate is proportional to speed. It only occurs at slow speed from about 5 to 15 mph and it seems to only occur for about 30% of each rotation. I plan to jack it up and check tire wobble or if the sound occurs during free spin. Any other things to check?
View 11 RepliesI own a 2001 Chevy s10 4.3 litter engine 2 wheel drive truck. Every time I accelerate I hear a hissing air sound like a vacuum cleaner from the belt/pulley areas. I've changed the alternator, a pulley, the tensioner, the air compressor, and the power steering pump is only 5,000 miles old. The sound has not gone away. I have no engine overheating or anti freeze leaks and the power steering works fine. When I first changed the power steering, the wheel was super hard to turn and it would sporadically get easier; now it us easy to turn. What could be causing this sound? I rather not change the water pump now.
View 2 RepliesLooking for some input on a recent "hissing" noise coming from eng compartment. It's only noticeable during initial acceleration, and sometimes at the beginning of gear changes. I am assuming its tubo and/or exhaust related, as I've noticed a strong exhaust odor in the cab as well. I wasn't under load when the problem started but i was under rapid acceleration. Not noticing any fluids or oils leaking. No warning lights have tripped, as of yet.

It sounds as though I have a relay in the relay panel behind the headlight switch clicking on and off while I am driving. I searched the archives a bit and through my own reasoning, I figured it is not related to the hazard switch or turn signal stock ( I could be wrong though).
Description: It only clicks while I have my foot on the accelerator and the car is in motion, never other wise. It is not dependent on throttle location; it clicks the same way regardless of where the throttle is as long as it's being pressed. The clicking stops completely when the throttle is not being pressed.
Because of this, I am unable to locate the exact relay that is making the noise as it is impossible for me to open the door and look at the relay panel while driving. The clicking is some what erratic; It will click, pause for 2-4seconds click again then wait anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds and repeat. It's driving me nuts. Evap? Is this normal? Can it be stopped?
I recognize the odds of isolating this is low, but thought I'd try. I have been hearing a a very subtle (but noticeable) noise coming from within the dash area of my 2002 Passat (mostly near the glove box side, but also in the middle area). Noise occurs when the ignition is turned on - with or with out the engine running. It can be heard while driving, but is more noticeable when I turn the HVAC fan to off. The sound is random, and seems to be like a relay dithering, an intermittent buzzer or a fan noise (although no fan is on.) It sort of sounds like a cell phone vibrating randomly in the glove box.
View 2 RepliesI just got done rebuilding my 7A-FE engine and I noticed that at idle its somewhat noisy from the engine bay. With the hood popped it sounds like its coming from the valvetrain area, like around the valve cover/intake manifold noise. I'll have to get a video up of it. It's not a grinding noise or anything like that, it just sounds like the valvetrain itself is just noisy.
Are these engines just chatty like that? I know I've heard of the 1zz being somewhat noisy.
I recently noticed some kind of a faint buzzing noise coming from the engine area. basically when the radio is off I can hear some kind of a buzzing noise under medium load, it sound like a loose heat shield or something. I took it to a dealer this morning, did a test drive with the tech who also heard the noise, got a call later on telling me that the noise is normal and is present on the other Tiguans as well.

I am hearing what I can only describe as the sound of a small explosion coming from under the hood. Its not as loud as a backfire, but it definitely sounds like something is combusting where it shouldn't be. its a '93 XLT V6. What could it be? how screwed am I?
View 19 RepliesToday was the first time I was in my RX without the radio since I bought it. I have a 2011 RX CPO with 65000kms on the odometer.
When the vehicle is idling there is a tick-tick noise coming from the engine area that does not go away. I initially thought this noise was due to it being 0 Degree C but the noise continued for the duration of my 45 minute drive. Later in the day the noise was consistent was did not silence.
I recently started getting a light tapping noise coming from the front passenger side tire wheel area. It almost sound like a nail stuck in the tire, but lighter in sound and there is nothing stuck in the tire........
Here's the kicker: It only happens when I turn LEFT!!!! I checked and there is nothing obvious that sticks out to touch the tire when it turns...
It's a 2006 hyundai sonata LX.
Now Is it anything I should worry about? Car has 72000 on it. Always used synthetic Mobil 1 5w 30.
This is on a completely cold start up, 30 degrees outside. Only makes the noise until car warms up. Anything I can do to prevent this? Or is it not something to worry about? Should I just let the car warm up a little before I drive it?

My 85' 740 GLE has been having some troubles lately, A nasty loud hissing noise is coming from near where the oil pan is and it is more prominent when i apply pressure to the gas pedal or sometimes when my foot isn't on the brake or gas. The first 5 minutes or so of the drive are fine, you hear the hiss but there are no noticeable performance issues. After a few minutes the noise gets a little louder and starts to effect the acceleration tremendously to the point where it'll take me roughly 10 seconds to hit 30 mph from being stopped.
View 2 RepliesI'm new to vw and I have a passat 3.6 sel premium and I have been hearing a noise coming from my rear suspension when I have a full car or going over speed bumps and such. It took it to the dealer and they said that they couldn't replicate the problem, could it be the control arms or it's bushings? The car is only 6 months old smh.
View 8 RepliesSo on the 16th I had my Koni FSD kit installed with a set of Driver Gear springs (30mm drop) and used the ECS Tuning install kit for both front and rear.
The issue I'm trying to troubleshoot is a 'thunk' noise coming from the rear but only when going over speed bumps or any other major bumps/dips.
2002 Chevy Tahoe Z71 ... When I first turn my car on in the morning (or after an extended period of time - i.e. the car has completely cooled down) it makes a clicking / ticking noise that appears to be coming from the engine area. It lasts approximately 10 - 12 seconds and then simply goes away. This happens consistently. I recently had it serviced end-to-end: belts, plugs, total tune-up etc.
