A friend of mine has a 99 passat. Driving home, his turning signals and blinkers stopped working. The lights work with the alarm though. The fuse was fine. Is there a relay that craps out on these cars?

View 3 RepliesI drive a 98 Ford Contour Sport. When I was driving today, I signaled a left turn, and the signal began working erratically. This also happened with a right turn, and, since I deliver sandwiches, happened when I turned my hazards on. Throughout the day it got worse, and eventually stopped working. I'm willing to bet that it's a wiring issue since all of my fuses are fine.
View 5 RepliesSo I have an 04 F250 Super Duty 6.0L and suddenly the turn signals and hazards stopped working. First I replaced the switch on the steering column...no luck. Today I replaced the flasher relay under the dash panel (the blue one)...still no luck. I remember checking fuses in the fuse box but don't remember which ones I checked but I didn't see anything obvious. I also took a quick look under the dash at all the wires for any anomalies...nothing. I'm lost... What to do next!?
View 1 RepliesOn the way to work this morning my dash lights went out. At the same time, all my climate controls stopped working, as well as the wiper controls. The blinkers didn't work either. However, the radio and MFD were fine. The windows were frosting up fast (I live in Canada) but it's only a 15 min. drive to work so while trying to hold my breath, I was able to make it work OK. I called the dealership and they said to bring to the car right away. On the way to the dealership, the overhead console lights stayed lit and could not be shut off. When I got to the dealership and pulled my key out of the ignition the overhead console lights wouldn't shut off as well as the radio and my the lock doors/security arming on my key fob would not engage.
Later, on in the morning they said they think the problem is in a module possibly in the steering column. What is going on with my car?
My blinkers started off blinking a few times then stopped working, now they don't work at all. The fuse says it goes to the brake lamps, hazards and turn signals. The hazards work as well as the brake lamps. I found the relay/flasher box and it appears the relay and flasher is the same for both the turn signals and the hazards. I checked for the wire/connector problem in the column and all looks good there. When I activate the turn signal lever I feel one click in the relay/flasher which leads me to believe the turn signal switch is working. I went ahead and replaced the relay with no results. Is the flasher internals the same for both the hazards and the turn signals or is there two independent sections inside for each?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2003 santa fe and the blinkers are not functioning but the hazard lights are working fine. I checked the fuse and that is fine. Is there someway I can take apart the handle assembly where the switch for the blinkers are? Also, sometimes they would work and other times they wouldn't so that seems like a loose connection somewhere. The indicators for the blinkers on the dash do not work either so there has to be a problem giving power to the switch.
View 8 RepliesThe rubber (insulator?) around the antenna mast was seriously compromised, I noticed, when it was removed for a car wash (an infrequent occurrence). The radio worked occasionally after that.
Then I had a minor water leak through the vent system due to a blocked drainage lip on the particulate filter. The floor was soaked, causing the alarm to go off without warning (now dried and working correctly), but the radio stopped altogether if i remember correctly.
Then the wipers stopped working when it rained (they worked when dry). Replaced the wiper motor, and lo and behold, the radio works again sometimes - when it's dry out. obviously, i need to replace the antenna mast. Will this correct it?
In my 97 Ford Taurus the turn signals and hazards are not working. I changed the fuses, but still no luck. Someone mentioned that there might be another fuse box under the hood (besides the maxi fuse box). Also someone mentioned the blinker fluid being low.

I switched out the hazard switch with a working one from my MKIV 2.0 slow and my GTI's hazards and blinkers still didn't work. Going to check my fuses once I step outside but is there anything else I can troubleshoot immediately besides the two obvious solutions I'm about to attempt? (MKIV BDF VR6 2003)
View 9 RepliesI've driven home from a tree nursery with a utility trailer - hazards on at about 60kph. Took me about twenty minutes to get home. It's a pretty warm day so AC was on. I turned the hazards off to signal turns and then put it back on when it was straight road.
After disconnecting the trailer and later driving to pick up the kids, I noticed the turn signals wouldn't blink but the hazards would still work. The AC would not respond, nor would any of the climate control buttons. The heated seat controls are dead and also the 12V DC outlet next to the seat switches seems to be dead. However, the airbag compressor control still functions normally, the diff lock button still works fine, the headlights and hi-beams still work as well.
I took a few minutes when I reached the first school to check through the fuse box under the hood but there wasn't anything obvious. I'm also considering just removing the negative on the battery to reset the computer. Then, there' s the window thing....
I bought an as is 1994 Saturn sw2 and the blinkers aren't working. I already changed the fuse, and the bulbs come on with the head lights. I am not sure what else I could try.
View 2 RepliesMy hazard, reverse don't work. The over all instruments panel light doesn't light up (the small bulbs work). Gauges with needles work. I'm putting every thing back into the truck. I left the steering wheel resting on the floor while cleaning and also left the wiring in. Everything else came out because I had to clean out the smell of mice. After I installed the instrument panel I started the truck, there was no hazard lights. I checked all the fuses under the dash. I checked all the fuses under the hood.
I did have a bent brake plug blade to bend straight. I need to replace a bad key cylinder, you can turn it without a key. I believe there were three plugs I unplug to lower the steering wheel. Park brake, brake pedal and a plug under the steering wheel. Wipers, interior ceiling light work. I believe there's a switch on the column (?) that includes the wiper arm. Should it also operate the hazard lights ? The steering column is installed, I can drive it around. Outside cargo lights won't go off, even with the light switch pushed in. Everything worked before.
Well, on our way home during my leave, the wife made the comment about halfway home that the blinkers had quit working. I assumed it was probably a fuse or relay, so we came on home. I have been looking at it for a few days now (too hot to spend too much time out crawling around under the dash ) and I am still having some trouble. My brake lights, and hazards are not working, and neither is the cruise, which was working fine while I drove before the blinkers went out.
I have no power at all to the flasher relay. I replaced the brake light switch because it was definitely worn and looked a little burned inside when I pulled it out and inspected, but still nothing. Have not found any fuses blown. Brake pressure switch fused link harness seems good with my test light. Wipers, brights, everything else on the turn signal switch works fine. Can't even get the cruise to go into diagnostic mode, it only blinks once when I try.
Wondering if there is a relay for directional and hazards that would die.... I can see that the indicators in the speed/RPM gauge set do light up ever so weakly when I press the levers/button, but no power to the actual bulbs. Where is this relay/fuse?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2001 Dodge Caravan. When I put my turn signal on all the dashboard lights fail and the gauges drop as if the van was powered off. After a couple seconds they come back on, then the seat belt reminder ding goes off. I've tried things like replacing fuses, checking the headlights and seeing if a wire or bulb was the issue. Found some wiring in the passenger side seat belt panel and thought that may have been the issue. The blinkers were working for a bit.
Recently they began failing again and so I've just messed with any wire I could find; maybe there's a poor connection or something. I saw some other discussion posted on blinkers and my hazard lights seem to have something to do with this; occasionally if I press the hazard lights the gauges will react slightly; they jump up a little. It's a hit and miss; sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I feel very unsafe and would hate to be responsible for someone rear-ending me because my blinkers didn't work.
Have a 1999 F-150 work truck that I bought. Of course the blinker aren't working. Flashers, wipers, H/L's all work just fine. Nothing for blinkers outside or dash indicators, either side.
Checked fuses, every time I try something and are good.
MFS. Took old one apart cleaned no change. Bought new switch no change. Have power in harness up to switch in 2 spots.
Wiring. Noticed while replacing MFS the couple wires loose on the back of harness plug. Cleaned and pushed them back into block. Making sure they are fully seated to make contact with MFS. No change. Bent contacts on switch a little for tighter connection. No change.
Replaced relay/flashers. No change. So obviously I'm overlooking something. The truck is a western truck. Hasn't been modified or messed with. Nice clean original, heck only 61000 miles. Wiring under dash looks untouched. Still has the factory AM/FM only radio.
1991 F250 Supercab Diesel 4X4. I made a mistake while wiring up my trailer lights and ended up grounding out my brake controller, frying it. Along with that, I popped a couple fuses as well (1, 5 and 9 I believe). Replaced all fuses and got my signals (F/R) back at least.
Here's what's NOT working/messed up:
*Brake Lights
*Cruise Control
*Rear ABS light comes on a few minutes after driving.
*Front hazards work, not rear. When I apply the brake, the hazards pause in the on position.
I've tested the brake switch on the brake pedal (Green/Red and Green) and it works properly. So, current is obviously not reaching the rear brake lights.
Another note. The truck is wired with a 7 pin plug in the bed for a goose neck trailer. It also was wired to a 6 pin on the bumper. I replaced the 6 pin with a 7. The signal/brake pins on the plugs (both) and also not receiving power. What's the next thing to check?
So I was on a road trip pretty far away from home on some winding roads in the mountains enjoying a new chip I put in my 1.8t and when I down shifted to 2nd, my car all of a sudden felt as if I went into neutral, needless to say, I wasn't, my clutch just stopped working. I can shift through all the gears, and nothing grabs, not even slightly, I don't hear any grinding or anything. It's just as if I'm in neutral. My clutch was pretty worn to start with, I've got 130,000 on an original clutch I just never had a clutch got out on me like that.
View 6 RepliesI was looking into the fuse box layouts and was trying to identify which one is for the 12v power outlets in the front area under the radio and the outlet in the arm rest. I believe its a 30 - 40 A fuse but need to identify exactly which one to replace since the outlets have stopped working.
View 4 RepliesI have a 1997 Ford F250. My trailer lights will work, but I have no brake lights or turn lights. I have checked all my fuses and all the fuses are good.
I was told it was probably my trailer tow relay, so I bought it at O'Reilly's, but I don't know which relay it is exactly.
I just want to know which relay number it is so I can replace it. And, if this doesn't sound right, is there something else I should be trying?
