The problem occurs intermittently... about once every few months. The hand brake would be loose (no click) pulling the handle up to engage. View 2 RepliesI have a 2003 Silverado 1500 with 198,000 miles. I was on the PA turnpike a few days ago and notice that when I take my hand off the wheel, the truck pulls to the left. I have to hold the steering wheel center to keep it straight. When I let go, it makes a slight turn to the left.
I did notice that I had a bad ball joint on the passenger side. So I replaced the upper control arm with a new ball joint included and did the lower ball joint on the passenger side since I already had everything apart. I just got my truck aligned this morning and still am having the same pulling issue. The dealership couldn't figure it out either. Here are the specs from the alignment printout:
Front Left Camber:
Before: -0.7; Actual: 0.0
Front Left Toe:
Before: 0.13; Actual: 0.01
Front Right Camber:
Before: 0.7; Actual: 0.0
Front Right Toe:
Before: 0.02; Actual: 0.00
I do rotate the tires every 5,000 miles and are all wearing evenly.
I have noticed on our 2009 F-150 there is an audible "click" (and you can feel it in the steering wheel) in left hand turns at about 1/4 revolution. You can also hear/feel the same thing coming out of right hand turns. It doesn't happen EVERY time, but pretty often. My wife had the service guy drive it when it was in for an oil change, and of course he didn't experience the same thing. What it might be or where to start?
View 8 RepliesI have a 2006 Ford F-150, and when I pull the hood release, the hood won't open unless I'm holding on to the hood release handle while pulling up on the hood. I've been trying to figure out how to adjust it but I can't find any information on it. The cable isn't broken, as I can see the cable move, it just doesn't seem to move enough to open the hood release. How I can fix/adjust it so it will work? Do I need to adjust it at the handle, or at the actual release under the hood?
View 12 RepliesI have a 2003 Variant V6, 34,000 miles - I was pulling out of a parking spot and the car had no "power". but eventually it kicked in..then when I got home I noticed that the brake lights stayed lit...no problem, I pulled the fuse so the battery wold not run out...put the fuse back in for the ride to the dealer, but a block out and again no power - depressing the gas pedal had no effect. Could these be related? The cars been at the dealer all day, they have no clue so far. I had the fuel pump replaced under recall...could it be some sort of electrical problem.

The front passenger door inside handle is loose, making it harder to open when pulling the handle.
I've been driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata for about 9 months now and it recently (2 weeks ish) started to not shut its hood. I haven't gotten it officially checked out yet as I'm low in funds and don't want to shell out money where I don't have to. I know it's dangerous to drive around with my car hood open (like an inch which is noticeable). I would shut it before I start driving and when I reach my destination it would be up again. Someone (a random guy who pulled up next to me at a red light and told me he could give me a quote for my hood... and the dent on the side of my passenger door) told me it may be due to a loose hood release handle on the driver side. There was no give when I tried the handle (is this called the latch?) and when this someone tried to loosen the rust on the hood lock itself (is this the latch idk these car terms), it still wouldn't close. It would click but pop right up. It keeps clicking when I close it but doesn't fully close because I could lift it up about an inch and it'd stay that way. He said it may be due to a cable issue with the release handle.
View 2 Replies owner of a 2007 Passat 2.0T wagon, 6 spd manual, 32k km's. (leased) I'm having repeated persistent parking brake failures (won't engage, or won't disengage).
-About two months ago the parking brake would not disengage, error message on the MFD, yellow warning light and warning tone. Called roadside, finally got it disengaged by removing one terminal from the battery. Took it straight to the dealership, they "fixed" it by resetting the computer.
- The next day I have auto hold engaged, parking brake did not disengage when I turned the car back on. Had to turn engine on/off several times before it disengaged.
- Took it to the dealership again, had to get a rental car over a weekend while they diagnosed the problem. This time they changed some wiring and replaced the parking brake button.
- Next day the parking brake engaged ok but wouldn't disengage. Same routine on/off/on/off to get it to disengage.
- Back to the dealership again, they decided to replace the brake control module but didnt have stock.
- Last week I took the car back in (4th trip for this issue), they replaced the module and said it was fixed. Next day my wife got stuck in a parking lot with the parking brake stuck on.
- Called the dealership last friday and asked them to come pick it up this time, as my wife and I are sick of the inconvenience of this issue. (we share the car, both work, and also have a child's daycare to schedule around)
The problem is intermittent but not difficult to cause a fault. Can be caused when engaging, disengaging, or when the PB kicks in from auto hold when turning the car off. I try not to use it, but sometimes is necessary (parking on hills etc).
The dealership doesnt seem to know the problem and are just throwing parts at it. What recourse do I have for repeated problems? The manual recommends using this parking brake EVERY time the car is parked, so I don't think it's too much to ask to have it working properly.
Having issue with the hand brake? It works fine, just when I want to release it, the brake light stays on and when you drive away hand brake warning comes up and I have to play with the handle to make the brake light go away after release...
View 8 RepliesMy wife has a 2008 Eddie Bauer 4x4 explorer and when you are backing up or pulling forward with the wheel turned, it feels like the automatic 4wd wants to engage. The Ford dealership mechanic told me this is normal but it does not do it all the time. Is there anything I can look at to try and figure out why this does it sometimes or if this is even supposed to do this at all?

Everytime is release the clutch, I hear the clutch click when it grabs. It's not the pedal that clicks. It's inside the transmission.
It runs fine, and it's been doing it right off the lot. It's not that loud to actually bother me, I'm just wondering if its normal.
The red dash light for my parking brake stays on until I jiggle the brake handle, then it stays off until I re-start the car the next time and then it goes on again. Brake fluid is fine.
Appears to be a faulty switch attached to the handle. How do I fix this? Is it a major job? [it's a 1998 Honda Accord]
My husband was kindly pulling the Ex into the garage for me. I drove it around town today. He came in and He said he pulled it in and turned it off. Then went back to turn it on to pull it in a little farther. When he tried to restart it there was a big "CLICK" and it went all dead. He said the theft light briefly flashed after everything else went dead. Also, aux power such as cig lighters still work. Could it be a fuse?
