Every so often, when I close the drivers door slowly, I get a groaning/creaking noise. I can't decide if it just needs to be lubricated, or the alignment has been hurt and needs adjusting.

Just recently I am having an odd rattle almost echo vibration when I close my driver's side door. I have tried it with the window down a bit and don't notice or get the noise. It almost feels like something is loose or being vibrated around and above the door.
I haven't had much time to look into it closely - It is pretty annoying!!!
Any time I open or close the driver side door, hearing some noise from the door hinge.
View 1 RepliesEvery time I open then close either of the driver side doors (haven't tried passenger yet), I hear a thumping noise coming from the trunk.
When I opened the trunk to see what it was, the noise stopped. Only with trunk closed does this happen.
Could it be air pressure causing the trunk lid to move? I didn't think the car was that air tight.
As of recent my Drivers Door seems like dead weight and is very hard to close compared to my other doors. No accidents or hitting anything. I checked the hinges and they are fine and the door is lined up perfect. Door is not rubbing anything either when its closing. All seems to be normal from inspecting. All the other doors are just fine. If I push the door with light force it comes back toward me.

View 14 RepliesI took the T-REG to a dealer today because I noticed the drivers door (more precisely the bottom corner towards the rear) doesn't close well, and the vehicle itself pulls to the right. I got a call back from the service manager stating that the door is actually bent!!! He states that the reason the vehicle pulls might be due to the bend as well!!! He advised me to call the dealer I actually bought it from and bring this up with them!!! I bought it with 103 miles it now has 203 (the extra miles are actually to just bring it to my house and drive it to the dealership)What should I do!!! Is the door actually repairable; the service manager states it is impossible to fix it because how it is made and installed!!
View 7 RepliesSo last night, I went to close my car door and it just "Bounced" when I went to shut it. It did this a few times and then I got it closed. So I left it until this morning and now it won't close at all and just bounces. I believe the latch is broken. Any quick fixes to this?

View 14 RepliesI have a '12 SCAB that when opening the driver door the weatherstrip on the door near the front fender, which seals against the pillar squeaks each time you open and close it. Makes the truck sound 20 years old. It appears the weatherstrip is binding on itself instead of just slipping past. I understand it gets dirty and cleaning it will work, but only for a day or so. I've checked the orientation of the weatherstrip with new trucks and its in the correct position.

When I try to close using the switch, I can hear as if a motor is rotating for a few seconds, but nothing happens. What might be the cause? View 2 RepliesWhat is causing the noise coming from the front end of my 2000 VW Passat B5 1.8T (73000 miles). When I'm going slowly and turn the wheel all the way to the left, I get a loud, low pitched groaning/moaning sound coming from the drivers side of the front end of the car. This occurs especially when turning at low speeds, such as entering or exiting a parking space, and it also seems like it happens a lot when I'm backing out of a parking space (although it may just be that I notice it more then). It also seems worse when the car has been sitting still for a while. I do not hear such a noise when I am going faster (like turning left). I also don't believe I've ever heard a "knocking" sound in conjunction with this problem.
Could you describe the differences between control arms, tie-rod ends, and maybe explain how the sounds might vary between these two problems? What else could it be?
How could I diagnose this myself? What should I look for? I took it in to my local dealership and they said that they could not reproduce the noise. This is total BS, because it makes the noises ALL THE TIME! They refilled my power steering fluid, but this made absolutely no difference.
Saw the 2013 Jetta commercial with the dog and in the last scene the owner closes all windows via the exterior driver door handle.
Is this a function available on the Passat? I tried it with no success.
Whenever I go over bumps or a rough piece of road there is a faint rattle coming from the drivers door. It just started doing it about a week ago and its driving me crazy . I am thinking door seal? I've called the dealer and they told me to come in to check it out.

I had a repair done a few weeks back and had a loaner 2014 TDI SE, and it had the exact same sound.
I recently replaced the brakes on my '99 Passat with all new rotors and pads. I used Mintex pads in front, as recommended by Adirondack Auto Brokers, and after a couple thousand miles, they are all broken in. The car stops fine and the pedal feels good, but there is always a groaning/vibration/creaking right at the very end of the stop. Nothing unsafe or a problem, but just annoying. It is only when the car comes to a complete stop at the last 6 inches of motion. If I let the brake pedal up slowly from a stop, it will also do it. What can I do to get rid of this, or is it from the pads and I just have to live with it until they are replaced?
View 2 RepliesAs stated in the title, I've been experiencing a creaking/groaning noise originating from the dead pedal/foot-rest area when I release the clutch as I'm accelerating from first gear. This happens more so when I'm accelerating from a stop on any sort of incline (irrespective of the grade) and primarily in the afternoon/early evening when the weather's at its warmest for the day.
The noise itself originated about a month ago. Although I describe it as a creaking/groaning it sometimes sounds like a slight metal on metal friction noise.
My car's stock with the exception of Driver Gear springs and a BSH 27mm sway bar in the rear. Wheels are OEM 16s. I've had the DG springs on my car for about 3 months before this noise began and mileage was around 9,900Km.
