Passat (B5) :: Dull Headlights - HIDs Are Out?

My sister said her headlights were dull. So when she came over it looks like both HID's are out?

Since I have only owned pre Mk5 cars I know NOTHING about HID's. So why would they BOTH go out?

My 2000 GTI and 2001 Passat have dull headlights plastic covers. I did try a kit from autozone with sand papers and a liquid polish without good results - It was a great workout.

My DDM HIDs came in the mail today and fellow vortexer D.Passat00 was kind enough to meet up with me and do the needed vag-com adjustments. So firstly a shout out to him, he's a solid dude and really nice

Now: Is there a DIY for headlight removal? I can't seem to find one, and without removing the headlights I'm afraid there just isn't enough room to install the new HID bulbs without dinging/touching them.

Passat (B6) :: HIDs Go Out When Using High Beam

I installed an aftermarket HID's on my 06 B6 2.0T, used VAG-COM to disabled DRL's. They work great no issue, expect when I use my high beam.....both HID's go out and I get warning light/message on the dash. I can get them to come back on by turning the lights off and back on.

Passat (B5) :: 2002 1.8t Sedan - HIDs Blowing Low Beam Fuses

Car is a 2002 b5.5 1.8t sedan.

Bought the DDM Tuning HIDs, 3500k 35w for the fogs, installed with no problems. Also ordered the 5000k 35w for the low beams. Installed them, they flickered on for a second, then nothing. Let the ballasts charge for a while but still nothing. Called DDM, they said my car needs a error code eliminator kit thing later they were at my doorstep. Plugged one side in, flicked on then nothing. Thought both sides might need the code eliminators plugged in...wrong. both flickered on, and then nothing. Tried again, no flicker, both low beam fuses burned. Plugged the regular bulbs in, changed the fuses, lights working again.

I don't know much about electrical, but DDM said i def don't need a relay kit. Do I need a relay kit? Or would putting higher amperage fuses in the place of the original ones work? if so what amperage?

Passat (B6) :: 2008 - After Installation Of HIDs All Warnings And Bulb Out Lights Went Off

I installed some aftermarket HID lights in my 08 passat. I took it to a local shop to have the drls turned off and the bi xenon turned on. All the warnings and bulb out lights went off, the lights fire up perfect. but for some reason now the lights (all of them, rear, dash, parking all come on with the ignition whether or not the lights are switched on or off.

I am sure a code got changed that causes that, but which code would activate all lights all the time? It's not DRls it all lights are on just like you turned the lights on manually.

Toyota - Highlander :: Dull Knock From Rear With Acceleration

My 2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid makes an intermittent noise when I accelerate from a stop or decelerate to a stop. My best description of the sound is a sharp thud or a dull knock (maybe a dull pop). It happens almost exclusively when I accelerate from a full stop or from moving very slowly. A similar sound happens when I decelerate to a full or near stop. I'm very certain that the sound is coming from the rear suspension or drive train of the vehicle, but I have not proven it. When I'm moving along at normal speeds, I don't hear any sounds and the car feels solid. By pure luck, going over the right sort of bumps causes a somewhat similar noise, but that might be a read herring.

Trips to two separate Toyota dealers have not fixed the issue since it is not easily repeatable. The first dealer tried tightening some bolts. The second replaced one of the front(!) struts, tightened bolts and lubricated things. I have managed to reproduce the issue for the second dealer, but the noise wasn't persistent enough for them to track it down.

This type of SUV should be regarded as all-wheel-drive, but power is mostly delivered by the front tires. The rear tires are driven by an independent electric motor and differential. The front and rear drive trains operate separately; the only mechanical connection between them is the rest of the vehicle. I'm wondering if the electric motor could be slipping a little bit.

Golf/GTI VII :: Dull Rattle Sound Coming From The Defroster Vents

New GTI owner here! Just picked up my '16 carbon steel gray Autobahn with PP, DSG, DCC, Xenon. Really enjoying it. Coming from an 07 E92 335i, I'm still getting used to the very different feel of this vehicle, but it's mostly a pleasant experience. However, one issue: there's a sound coming from the defroster vents, a kind of dull "rattle sound" that isn't anything terrible but I wish it wasn't there. It isn't a leaf hitting a fan blade as it goes away if I turn off the defrost vents. It just sounds like air hitting a rough edge on something causing a turbulence noise. I guess it could be something fluttering in that area, but I can't see anything when looking at the vent from outside the car and it's very constant.

Camry :: 2004 LE - Dull Clunk Noise In Rear End After Strut Replacement

I just replaced all 4 struts on my 04 Camry. The car has 87,000 on it. I went with the Monroe OESpectrum struts and new strut mounts (Monroe). Springs looked fine, the rubber spring seats were fine as well and the bellows, so reused those items.

I now have a noise in the rear end that I did not have before. It sounds like it is coming from the lower part of the car and is not metal sounding. It is a very dull clunk when going over bumps in the road and is coming from both sides.

I replaced the sway bar bushings a couple years ago. I checked those and there is no play and appear to be fine. Also checked the sway bar links and they seem fine to me, but not sure what makes those bad. Torqued what I could. Used an electric impact wrench on the strut nuts and could not torque that because the rod spins.

I am taking it in on Monday for an alignment and to have the shop see if they can figure out the noise. Is it possible that the new parts could be binding and the alignment may take care of it? I have doubled checked my work and everything appears to be on correct.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that I purchased in early July, which now has around 5500 miles. Sometime within the past couple of months, I noticed a dull clunk that occurs within the first 100 yards or so of driving. This seems to happen only when the car has not been driven for a few hours (although it seems more frequent lately), and it sounds as if something has dropped from the bottom of the car, between the front seats.

Golf IV R32 :: Dull Thud Or Thump Even When Driving Over Small Pavement Imperfection

The front suspension of my R has been making a lot of racket lately. Every small pavement imperfection creates a dull thud or thump. Could it be my strut mounts? They are about 3 years old — I replaced them when I installed Koni FSD under stock springs. I have a vague recollection that the distance between the top of the shock tower and the underside of the metal strut "hat" should be no more than 10mm... I have about a 12mm gap. Does that mean anything?

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Dull Clunk In Rear When Driving Slowly Over Rough Terrain

I have less than 1000km on my new 2014 XTR SC. I had an AS 2.5/1.5" kit installed and a wheel alignment. There is a dull clunk in the rear when driving slowly over rough terrain(dirt roads n potholes). It happens occasionally when taking turns at lower speeds too. A friend who is a mechanic installed the kit and its the 4th kit he has installed for me. Never an issue.

The truck had to go to the dealer to have the remote start installed and they investigated the clunk and tightened up some nuts and bolts and its still there. They blamed the leveling kit and said its normal sometimes. This is definitely not normal! I've searched and can't find anything.

Phaeton :: HIDs Not Coming On?

I've got a person w/ a Phaeton that has one of his HID's not coming on. I told him either bulb or ballast. I suggest we swap the bulbs and see what happens, but it appears to be very difficult to get at that part of the headlight ass'y. Is it poss to gain better access to the rear of the headlight ass'y by removing the wheelhouse liner or does the whole ass'y need to come out which requires the removal of the bumper cover, or is there another way? VW wouldn't really make changing a bulb that difficult, would they?

On my 2006 4X4, I noticed a low pitched revolving dull scraping sound when I was traveling slowly. It was more noticeable on a hard left turn. The sound increased in speed as I drove faster and slower when I backed off. My brake pads are fine with 6 month old rotors. I suspect either a bad hub bearing or U-joint on it's way out. I have approx 114k on the clock and attach an 8ft plow for my driveway alone. What's the easiest way to check?

Camry :: Turn On The Lights But HIDs Don't Come On

For the last few weeks, the headlights on my '05 Camry have had problems. I turn on the lights & my HID's don't come on, the high beams work. All the other lights work. I took out the relays, & changed the ballasts, still the same problem. I changed the bulbs from another HID kit, same thing. I tried putting in the stock bulbs & the still don't light up. I checked the 2 fuses under the hood, they are good.
