My red ventilation symbols in the center console and the passenger side ones do not light up anymore . Are these lights inside changeable because now the center console looks a bit weird at night with only half the red vent lights lit up.

View 2 RepliesHow to remove the center (upper, right above the radio) dash vent assembly on an '04 Passat (I assume many other years would be similar). I have a rattle/squeek in there that I'd like to address. Sliding a credit card in between the vent/dash provides some improvement, so I'm thinking if I could get the assembly out and shim and/or lube it I might be able to resolve the problem.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Prius with 110000 miles on it and i have had an issue with the dash not coming on when the car is started. This has happened 3 times this year. I would start the car like normal everything else comes on and it is drivable but nothing is displayed where the speedometer should be. Sometimes when this happens it wont turn off by hitting the power button but it will allow me to just pull out the key and it shuts off then. these last two times it took around 5 minutes of just leaving it alone and the display comes back on when I start it up. I checked the 12v battery and everything seems to be fine.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2002 Accent. The blue back lighting on the dash are out. The mileage lights are on. The back lighting will come on for a bit and then off again.
View 3 RepliesJust picked up a pretty nice 2002 sc430 today. On the drive home I realized all the dash backLights are not lighting up. However the The radio and climate control unit do have a dim backlight working but is stuck at one level of illumination.
Like most cars the all dash lights should be very bright during the day and when you turn on the headlights they should all Dim down. ..... Not on this SC.
Makes no difference what position the headlight switch is in....Nothing changes or lights up

today i was installing some lights in my car. i decided to use the shift light as my power source so i tapped into it but during the process i accidentally shorted it and i believe i blew a fuse somewhere. the shift light hvac control and the radio lights no longer turn on. Where is the fuse that blew and is it possible that theres a fuse behind the radio that blew?
View 4 RepliesSwap out the LED dome lights in a 2012 Camry SE? I'm considering switching the bulbs out from the yellow tone stock lighting to the white lighting LED bulbs. I am also considering floor lighting that can be activated with the dome light switch and/or with the doors opening. The issue I'm having is that I would like them to be hooked up to the same switch that the stock lights are set up with. (So I can use the dimmer switch for lighting). Where I would be able to tap into the wiring for this? Is there a DIY thread somewhere?
View 3 RepliesAs I drove down the freeway tonite all the dash lighting and gauges went dead for 2 seconds then it all came back to life. After every thing came back on the clock had been reset to 12:00 and all of the info in trip computer had been reset. Could this be a symptom of a bigger problem? What should I be looking for?

View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 prius with about 350k miles on it, bought it about a year ago and we have had our first trouble with it (it's been great so far, and when you consider it's mileage, pretty impressive).
We were driving along and a constant alarm started (beeeeep!!!) and lights on the dash lit up. I assumed it was cranky because the rear hatch wasn't closed or something and kept driving (we didn't have far to go). It wasn't long before smoke with a distinctive burnt electronics smell started coming up from the dash at the front left lower corner of the windshield. Then the brakes started to feel very unresponsive and sluggish (no regenerative braking either). She still runs and drives. So here is where I am now:
The car screams constantly and the brake light, ABS light and the (!) light are all lit.
I've been poking about and figured out that my inverter coolant pump isn't working properly. At this point I am wondering if this is just pure coincidence though (i.e. perhaps its not been working for awhile). I will be replacing this soon.
I checked the error codes and they all seemed to be un-related and or old (catalytic converter not working properly, ran out of fuel, etc). I cleared them and no new ones are populating. (car has only been driven around the block 3 times though)
The 12 V battery seems to be working fine, and it's getting the proper charging voltage. (voltage tested through the console under various conditions)
I have reset the braking system (bridging the #4 and #13 pins thing) and this turned the buzzer and lights off for about 20 seconds. Still no proper brakes. And of course the noise and lights just come back. Still no error codes via my Bluetooth reader and smartphone.
I have my doubts that replacing the inverter pump will fix this brake issue. I am familiar with working on cars, but this is my first foray with 1) a modern car and 2) a Prius. (Previous cars are all mid 90s or older, so I'm a little bit overwhelmed here...)
Do the outboard vents close like the vents around the clock? My center one opens and closes with the "need' of the A/C system, but the outboard ones are only open.

View 4 RepliesGrandson shoved an ink pen into the center dash vents of our 2007 Camry LE. I removed the vent grille and found out the pen rolled on back and dropped down into the plenum. Now we cannot set the air circulation to defrost. I'm assuming the pen is restricting flap movement.The dealer was not sure the best way to extract the pen - guessing would have to gut the dash with 6 to 8 hours of labor. I'm mechanically inclined and would try the extraction myself, but want to ensure I take the best route and not waste time and effort with an incorrect approach.

View 2 RepliesI ordered the gauge kit, installed it with the printed out DIY (CIMs)
Looks great, everything is tight, no leaks. All power going to the gauge (even the dimmer).
When power is connected via the plug in the back of the gauge, the needle goes from -30 to 30, full swing like some newer vehicles, not when the car is turned on.
Here's the problem, is doesnt read anything. Sits at -30 at idle, rev (limiter) and under load. The DIY says it should be somewhere around -20 at idle.
The only thing I can think of is the pressure sending unit is broken. I know faulty equipment is not uncommon and I'm not mad if that is the case as long as it gets resolved, I just want to get this thing working. This is NOT a bash against CIM either, I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea.
Also, I used a forge boost tap. Everything tight, and secure, no leaks going to the filter, or the 4" hose from filter to psi sending unit. Did I miss anything that's not in the write up? Early 11 model DSG MKVI
I have a 2004 F250 6.0 truck. My vent selector is stuck in the 'dash vent' position. I can't switch it to defrost, floor, or anything else. This past winter I noticed that heat would blow well but only through the dash vents. Now that summer is well underway I noticed that the AC blows through the dash vents also, but it doesn't blow very cold. I checked the freon, topped it off (didn't overfill), and still have the same issue. I checked the fuses and all are good also.
Of course, moving the selector to Max AC doesn't work either. Does this all point to the blend door motor? I hope not as the reading I have done means that this is one tough project to tackle.
I recently just bought a 99 Passat wagon and none of the interior lights (dome/vanity/passenger lights) work and the sunroof does not operate. I checked the fuses and bulbs, all are good. Is there some where else I should be looking before I break down and buy a voltmeter?
View 5 RepliesI have been noticing over the past couple of weeks that my headlights are on in the middle of the day. It is bright outside and the headlights are on. I have the switch in the Auto setting and have turned the DRL's off and enabled the rain sensor. Could it be the light/rain sensor?? Or maybe the light switch??
2013 Passat TDI SEL
Went to switch vent from dash to defrost and hear a clicking noise and also air doesn't come out defrost unless the air is switched to floor. Switch air to floor and it doesn't seem to change. Where is the blend door located. sound seems to come from center of the dash.
