View 2 RepliesI got our car back from the dealer for catalytic C. Replacement and the pressure tire light was on. Check tire pressure in the morning and went up to 40psi to see if they reset. No luck.
Lower back to normal after three weeks all tires including spare are at 33psi. Also, the clear coat on my wheels is peeling off.2006 2.0T 85K Miles.
My MY2012 Passat 2.5 SE currently at 37k miles all of a sudden is showing clear coat peeling near the trunk/rear panel area. Car is a CPO and clean carfax (no accidents) and currently still under warranty. Planning on taking it back to the dealership and hopefully start a case for warranty work under VWoA.
I've never encountered clearcoat failure this early on, case in point my B5 (MY1999) still has excellent clear coat uniformity despite the paint/body being 17+ years old.
I bought my 2004 toyota tundra limited addition brand new it has 310000 miles. It runs like brand new. The only things to complain about is the paint and piston slap. My paint faded and clear coat started peeling 6 years ago. I notice piston slap 6 to 7 years ago. Runs like brand new. Open the hood no leaks not dirty very clean. I've maintained this vehical from day one it serves me well hoping it will out live me. I don't see to many 04/05 on the streets.
View 1 RepliesOn the hood, just beyond the 3M plastic covering is a small, silver-dollar sized area where the clear coat on the paint has begun to deteriorate and peel back leaving the paint exposed.
View 8 RepliesMaybe I am running out of my beginner's luck. Recently when I did the second oil change at 10K miles, I placed the drain pan without taking into account the fact that the oil drains partially sideways. The oil stream ended up splashing off the edge of the drain pan and made a mess. Then I did not withdraw my hand fast enough when unscrewing the oil filter and allowed a stream of oil running down my arm and staining my new shirt. The I filled the new oil filter too full and had one more spill when installing it.
About two weeks later I found there was a very thin coat of oil at the bottom of the oil filter but no drips either on the filter or on the ground. I checked the oil level and it was the same as before. I checked the filter tightness with a torque wrench and it was also as tight as before. I wiped the bottom of the filter clean with paper towel. Now about another two weeks passed and a corner of the bottom of the filter is coated with oil again.
I am thinking maybe it was just the spilled oil gradually making its way from the (outside) top of the filter to the bottom? If there is a leak then I should get at least some drips, not just a thin film every two weeks, right? I also thought about untightening the filter and then tighten it again but I was afraid of large amount of oil coming out, would it? Also I had carefully checked the o-ring and wiped the flange clean before installing the filter and there are so many threads to screw the filter on - it is hard to imaging the filter would not seat correctly.
Seems like the clear coat on both of my headlights is starting to get milky. Whatever is going on, it is happening from the outside. I buffed on them with scratch remover and put a coat of wax on them, (looks a little better now) but there is something going on.
View 19 RepliesI'm planning on doing a paint correction on my car and was wondering if I need to be concerned on how much clear coat will come off during the process? I'm going to be washing and claying it beforehand and using a dual action polisher for removing the existing swirls and micro scratches. It's a black car if that makes any difference. The reason I ask is that I'm not a detailer but have heard that some of the modern autos don't have that much clear coat on top of the paint or that some areas (like the edges) don't have clear coat compared to other areas. I also bought the car used (its about 3-4 years old) so I don't know its washing history.
View 7 RepliesI know it's a typical new car issue but every time I look at my car I see a new chip. None of them are major, usually just some missing clear coat but yesterday I found one that looked like it had been masked with fingernail polish. How do I remove this without damaging the paint underneath? Also, how do I level the repair after the clear coat?
View 2 RepliesI Have blisters in the clear coat of the steering wheel. Two have opened and the clear coat has started peeling off.

The paint is starting to get cracks on the hood and fenders of my 2008 Honda civic its dark blue with 43,700 miles the dealer said the warranty for paint is 36 months or 36,000 miles. They said its the clear coat and the black and dark blue paint has been doing this.He is checking with Honda to see if they will paint the hood and fenders for me.I feel that in time the rest of the car will get these cracks to and they should repaint the entire car, since they admitted that it is a problem with the clear coat. The car is always garaged and waxed often. What do you think
View 5 RepliesSo I noticed a couple of weird patches on my mothers 2006 Silver Camry. After about a couple of month(s) it looks like clearcoat failure. My mom is the first owner and bought it brand new. The car has 90k miles.
View 14 RepliesI have a ingot silver 2011 F150.....I've seen some posts that say not to use silicone wax on vehicles with clearcoat (I assume this is the candy red and premium white?). Any opinions on what is compatible with my silver?
View 14 RepliesA little over a year I had my rear outer wheels replaced due to corrosion under the clear coat around the valve stems, 15K miles

Next week another pair are being installed for the same issue, 31K miles.
About half the engine is thin coated in oil, At least that's what it appears. It seems as though it it coming from the oil cap, and some long bar looking thing also on the top end of the motor. Is this a dealer visit about to happen? How bad is it at this point and should it even be driven??
View 21 RepliesAccidentally dropped a thin wire to the left bottom of the engine bay, Will this cause any harm to the engine?
View 1 RepliesFirst off let me say I love my TDi for everything I bought it for...fuel economy, space, ride comfort.
I've noticed the wind noise before but had never taken a drive more than 30 minutes.I just took my first 300 mile road trip and REALLY noticed the EXCESSIVE wind noise.
I traded a 2010 GTI and its weather stripping was more full and produced a much better closed door seal and I never once had problems with wind noise in the 2 years that I owned.
I thought I was out of the woods on this. It looked like water was coming from the HVAC, and I haven't seen any moisture up front for a while. I did find a problem leading to the wet rear cargo area; there was a small crack in the paint on the passenger side gutter, almost back by the hatch hinge area. I noticed a pinhole sized area that appeared discolored, as though water had been involved. Sealed that with some 3M Crystal Clear sealant about a month ago, and it's been dry ever since.
Last weekend, it rained heavily, and I went out the morning after it rained and checked the passenger footwell again. Bone dry, so yippee, right? Nope. I start up and when I move, I heard water sloshing, then saw a small flood run down the carpet next to the passenger kick plate. I mopped up, but what could be holding so much water that I could hear it? Is there a tray that might be clogged under the cowl on the passenger side?
Having issue with the paint on either the radio buttons or unlock buttons or any in general were they are peeling? Mine look terrible now and was wondering if there is a way to fix them. Do they sell any pre-cut adhesive ones?
View 5 RepliesBoth the driver and pass. side inside door handles (with the window switches) have the thin outer 'rubberized' layer peeling off on my tan interior 2006. Short of replacing them ,what other options are there? Wrap it all in some kind of matching tape? What kind? If i have to replace them, what kind of costs and complexity are we looking at?
Other than that, at over 120k miles, this baby continues to be a dream to drive
Portions of my console have started to peel along with the driver side handles. Car had less than 20k miles on it when the peeling started.
