Turn on blinker , turn, blinker shuts off.. But the relay keeps clicking for a 20 seconds. It's kinda annoying... Sounds like it coming from behind the stereo..
My wifes car has an issue of the blinker relay energizing after the blinkers are turned off. The relay is a hazard/blinker in the same relay. Once the blinker is off the relay clicks but the blinker nor hazards blink.
View 1 RepliesSo as per my prior post i was having issues with my directional (blinker) the clicking sound would continue after the blinker turned off. Replaced the hazard warning relay (whole hazard switch) and the problem is still happening. I was playing with the actual blinker control arm today and i got it to make the clicking noise without the flashing light to come on so that seems to be what the problem is. Thinking to have that signal arm replaced? I think that it is not totally disengaging after i turn the wheel. is this something i could do myself? I have the bentley manual to take apart the steering wheel.
View 1 RepliesI'm new to diagnosing AC issues in automotive applications but understand how it works and am mechanically capable. Anyway, when i turn the AC on, to max or normal the fan blows with no cold at all. I did notice a clicking relay sound under the truck only when the AC was turned on, it happens every 2-3 seconds. Does my system need recharged, or is it a bad relay? Also, is there a guide on recharging my sig rig?
View 6 RepliesI have a 1985 Cutlass Ciera Brougham with the 2.5L four cylinder. It was driving and running great, and then one day it would not start. At first I thought that it might be the battery. I put my jump battery on and still nothing. I checked the battery voltage and it was good. Then I thought that it might be the starter. I crawled under the car and pulled the starter out. I took it to the store where I bought it just a year ago and had it tested, it passed. When the key is turned on all of the lights on the dash light up and the only sound that is heard is the fuel relay clicking on. The starter does not spin, click, hum, engage or make any indication that it is getting power. I put a wrench to the harmonic balancer bolt and I am able to spin the engine freely, so the engine is not seized. When the poles on the starter are jumped via a screwdriver the engine will crank, but will not start. Could a neutral safety switch or ignition switch that has gone bad cause such symptoms?
View 11 RepliesWhen you turn the blinker on, all of the signals and the flashers work fine, but after you turn the blinker off the blinker sound clicks sporadically for a few seconds, sometimes a minute after the blinker is off. The arrow light and the blinkers don't actually blink, just the sound from around the center console. Sometimes it will click a few times when you haven't even turned the blinker on. What's going on?
View 3 RepliesMy turn signal relay clicking and stuttering randomly. When turn or warning signal used it operates normally with absolutely no problem and sounds healthy. But when not used and supposed to be quite - it goes again. When stuttering - there is absolutely no indication other than clicking sound that something is wrong.
View 11 RepliesI need to know the Location of the turn signal relay, my left front bilnker is super dim, and the rear left blinker is normal brightness as well as they blink rapidly. I've replaced both front and back bulbs as well as the flasher and turn signal fuses, so I am assuming the last and final one is the turn signal relay.
View 2 RepliesJust got back from the supermarket. Unloaded groceries and my Passat wouldn't start when I went to park it. Turned the key and it just makes a clicking noise - clock and trip odometer reset themselves also. If I turn the key the car just makes a clicking noise and the lights on the dash all flash on and off.
I am going to see if it starts after being jumped in a few minutes.
Other potentially useful info - I was testing a radar detector for work the other day and it has a battery voltage meter. It was reading in the 11.0 - 11.6 volt range. Is this too low - just wondering if the alternator was not supplying a sufficient charge. Not sure how accurate these are. The battery was changed around a year ago so I'm sure it's not the battery. I am assuming starter or alternator.
I have a 2002 Passat GLS and when I tried to start my car this morning, it would not start. When I turn on the ignition, the car gives off a loud clicking sound. The interior and exterior light works, the panel light works, and the radio works as well. What might be the problem?

When I GENTLY turn off the directional signal, I hear the relay continue to click, however the dash lights do not blink, nor do the outside lights. If I let the directional lever jump back into place, the problem does not occur. Is it the switch in the column, or the relay?

As I slow, I start to hear relays clicking away behind the dash, a sort of constant clicking away in a random sequence, until I start moving again, and then it either stops or is drowned out by road noise.

I am at 9Kish on the OD so I am just gonna let them know at the 10K oil change. Whatever it is or does, it isn't affecting the cars drive-ability one bit.

View 3 RepliesMy main relay is chattering badly when my ignition is in the on position but not in the ACC position. All of my "dummy" lights are flashing with the chattering main relay. I have tried to replace both the Start and Main relay and I replaced the battery 3 weeks ago. I have checked the wiring and I do not see anywhere the wires could have been chewed by a mouse and everything appears to be connected. Checked all of the relays and fuses to make sure they were in tightly. Could this be the ignition?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2004 XLE V6 that just recently has started a clicking/ticking noise coming from the dash around the passanger side/glove box area. It sounds like a small electrical relay noise randomly making/braking its contacts. At first I thought it was the CD player (you know how it clicks when changing/loading CDs), but it happens with the radio turned off.
The noise does not have any definite rhythm and it's not coming from the engine, but only makes the noise when the engine (and A/C) is running. I've noticed the noise will go away after the interior temperature cools down. What is causing this clicking/ticking noise?
Since I have a XLE with the digital temperature control, is there a temperature sensor located somewhere that feeds a signal to the A/C controls for the cabin temperature to automatically adjust the cabin temperature/fan speed, etc.?
