Passat (B5) :: Battery Is Drawing About 280 MA With Everything Off?

Mar 16, 2009

Problem: battery is drawing about 280mA with everything off, doors and hood closed, no lights on. I believe draw should be about 40mA under this condition. Indeed, after several days battery is low and car won't start.

I pulled each fuse (1 at a time), but 280mA draw remained. I repeated 2 more times to make sure, same. I tried each relay as well, same. In monitoring the problem, the system will occasionally drop to around 40mA, but it's random and rare and seemingly not reproducible. '01 Passat wagon GLS '00 Audi TT '86 Westy

Saturn - Sl :: Malfunctioning Electric Locks Drawing Down Battery

1996 Saturn SL2. The electric locks have been malfunctioning such that they will suddenly lock and unlock continuously until the battery is dead. It occurs for reasons unknown - like the locks have a mind of their own. Been occurring intermittently - about once every couple of weeks. Mechanic's been unable to replicate the problem. I'm fairly clueless about cars. It's an older car, obviously, but is otherwise okay ....

Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Cigarette Lighter Socket Not Drawing Enough Current?

For some reason, all of my cig lighter sockets stopped working properly. Voltage is steady at around 12.5v but amperage constantly drops to near 0. Fuse is intact of course and all other electrical components are working fine.

What can possibly be a cause of this?? and any solution?? It's been 2 days and I would like to know my options before heading to a dealership.

Ford Fuel System :: Pump Not Drawing Fuel

Ok so my son and I are new to this whole truck restoration thing, but we're eager to both learn. We recently scored a 77 F250 camper special that's sat for about 14 years. When we bought it it was running. The previous owner had done quite a bit to clean it up. When we got it to the house we drove it around a bit for fun, and parked it until we could drop the tanks to clean them out. That's done, we've replaced the fuel sensors in both tanks, the lines are clear based on us blowing air through them from the engine side back to the tank side before connecting to the tanks. The mech. fuel pump is brand new and seems to have suction when we turn the truck over. We've installed a fuel filter before the pump in an effort to filter any possible residual junk out of the lines, but we can't get fuel to the engine! (Yes we put gas in both tanks.) The truck will run when we run a line Direct from the pump to the a gas can, but not when connected to the tanks. What could we be missing?

Passat (B5) :: How To Get The Battery Out

I think I better take the battery out and let autozone check it and get a replacement in necessary. (I do not want to drive the car there because it may not start again.) but I have a problem to get battery out from under the big plastic cover. the front end of the cover is easy, i simply pull it out from under a rubber seal that surround the whole engine compartment. but the backend of the cover is buried underneath another plastic hood that covers the bottom of the windshield. I do not know how to get the cover out without breaking anything or without creating water leaks. What is the correct procedure to take a battery out from passat?

Passat (B5) :: 2003 1.8T - Battery Drain At Off

I have a 2003 Passat 1.8T. Over 8 Hrs the battery goes from 12 to 10V and the start is real sluggish. I'm going to test the load on the battery when it is just sitting there to see if there is a short somewhere. I'm wondering what the load should be from the clock and radio which draw power even when off.

It is 4+ years old so it might be just time for a new battery..... Alternator is working....14V on the battery when the engine is running...... so there is charge form the alternator.....

Passat (B6) :: Battery Drain After RNS-510 Install

Installed an RNS-510 in my 2006 Passat, and this morning, I could tell my battery was nearly completely drained. Also, I know the unit is receiving constant power because it never "boots up" even after leaving the car turned off for a while. Usually, it should completely shut off after the car is off for ~30 minutes.

I guess I need to update my CAN module. What is an updated CAN that will work, and where this is located on my 2006 Passat?

Passat (B6) :: Change Key Battery Message Comes Up

I took to the car to the local Muppet Show and they put a new battery in my FOB and the message still comes up. My car does have KESSY so I'm not sure if it's this that is going haywire. The car was serviced in April and had a software upgrade - maybe it has a bug! Also, a few seconds after setting off I now get the BING! sound but no messages..

Passat (B5) :: 2002 - Key Fob Battery Replacement?

I'd like to know how to replace the battery in the key fob for my 2002 Passat Wagon. I looked in the manual but I could not find it and it says that the dealer should do it. I am aware that sometimes the fob may need to be re-programmed but my wife's key works perfectly so I will assume that the battery has gone out. The key works just fine when used manually.Also, what kind of battery does it take??

Passat (B6) :: Replace Car Battery Now APR Won't Work

Okay so yesterday I had to replace my battery because it died just when I was trying to leave for work. Got back on the road it everything was fine. Coming home last night I got a CEL, I figured it was my normal p2177 because of my Forge WINTake that I can't seem to find a fix for. I went to clear the code because I have a fulling loaded APR Stage 1 ECU. Now it won't clear. So this morning I attempted to change programs and it won't change. Should I just go have it reflashed?

Passat (B5) :: Intermittent Flickering Of Battery Light?

So, I have have an intermittent flickering of the battery light. The weird part is that it ONLY happens between 80 and 85 mph. Any faster or slower and it doesn't happen. It's not a steady flickering, but a random intermittent flicker. What the issue may be? The car has a new (within 2000 miles) battery and alternator. 1.8t with manual transmission.

Passat (B5) :: 1999 1.8T - No Power After Dead Battery

Three weeks ago I left my lights on while at work. After I jumped it, everything was running terribly. I had absolutely no power and it felt like the engine was going to fall out at any time. I got it home and had a roommate look at it. After not seeing anything wrong, I tried starting it again and everything ran perfectly fine. I'm assuming it was something with the computer and it just needed reprogrammed.

So last week a friend of mine drove the car and also left the lights on. When we went to jump it, it would start for 2-3 seconds then stall, even with a little gas. After a few attempts, it stopped starting. Now, it'll turn but nothing else. We pulled the battery and put it on a charger. The battery held 12.6V and is only 6 months old. Put it back in and got the same result.

The fuel pump is turning on and I've checked every fuse. It is around 20 degrees out but I had a full tank so I don't believe it to be a frozen fuel line. It seems like an electrical problem since there were no mechanical problems before the dead battery. The only complaint I had was a lack of power sometimes, but I don't think that would have a great deal with this.
