I've got an '04 Passat and I'm having trouble with the back-up lights. The fuse was blown (which I replaced), and I just finished swapping out the bulbs. Only one of the bulbs looked burned out.
The lights are still not working, although I get a very faint glow from the left side when in reverse. I'm really puzzled that I'd get a faint light from just one side.
I have the Bi-xenon's I had installed on the top and I wanted my Fog lights to match. At a performance shop they installed Can Bus Ballasts with 6000K light to match the top Xenon's. I turned Cornering lights off in VI -COM so my car will stop kicking on the dash light every time I turn a corner. Here the weird part.
If I turn my fog lights on during the day NO FLICKERING. But at night the front left Flickers. I've replaced the Ballast and the light and it still does it. I think it has something to do with the Automatic Switch that turns the lights on at night.
I seem to be having a problem with my passenger side mirror and it's reverse function. I have a 2008 Passat Lux. I set the mirror reverse to 'on' in the MFD. I started the car, leave it in park and set up my seats and both mirrors. I press set and then 1 to memorize the positions and hear the chime. I then proceed to put the car into reverse, switch the remote mirror dial to 'R' and position it go down.
The problem I'm having is that the manual says that the passenger mirror will go to it's original set driving position if you go over 9mph (or something like that) or if you move the remote dial to something other then 'R'. But that's not the way it's working. It should ideally go back to the original position when you put the car in to drive (like my old 2002 Passat GLX did), but even when I drive off and go over the stated mph, the mirror doesn't go back to the driving position.
While I'm driving, I then turn the dial off the 'R' position, but it's still looking down....I honestly don't think that I set it incorrectly, but hopefully I am and I don't have to bring it in to service for just that. It's a convenient feature that I want to use. Don't want to curb rash my wheels by my sloppy parking or my wife's....
I'm at a complete loss, My drivers side back door has stopped working, Alarm, window and lock, I've checked my fuses, and it seems i only have 3 doors in the fuse box, what are the numbers to the door fuses in the box.
View 9 RepliesI am having a difficult time trying to track down the root cause of a P1393 code in a 99.5 7.3. The code means all the glow plugs on the driver's side are not working. I don't have any other codes related to the glow plug system present in my computer.
I've replaced:
1)The Glow Plug Relay (I have the CA version with the shunt)
2)Valve cover gaskets and wire harnesses
3)Glow plugs
I've used all OEM product replacements.
Additional testing:
1)Voltage on the glow plug relay posts going to the left and right bank is the same (I think this means the shunt is okay)
2)Disconnecting the wire harness to the valve covers yields 12 volts at all 8 glow plug connections during the glow plug cycle
3)In one of the steps of a troubleshooting document I found, it requires a KOEO On-Demand Self Test. It does not complete and ends with a P0605 code, "Internal CTRL Module ROM Error" using a Snap On Scan tool.
4)Using the Snap On scan tool to run a glow plug test results in "Test has aborted 64 - Abnormal Exit without result".
5)I checked part of the wiring loom and it seemed to be good.
Is there a way to test the wire that goes from the Glow Plug Relay on the driver-side bank to the PCM? I think that either this wire is bad, or a bad PCM.
How i can get the LED lights on the passenger side rear working? Just noticed 4 LED lights are not working when the dipped and side lights are on. Two LED lights are not working when indicating.

Changed turn signal, Now driver side running lights and head light don't work. Never mind it was a blown fuse.
View 1 RepliesI have a Passat 2.0 TSI 2008. Today after having lunch I tried to start the car to return to my office, but it didn't start. The lights dimmed like the power was draining. I tried again and no sign of a start and no lights this time. Called my insurance 24h assistance. They brought a spare battery and we connected it so as I could start the car. The started this time. Disconnected the spare battery, and left the motor running for 10 minutes. Instead of turning off the car, I decided to drive it a while to feel if everything was fine.
Well, the A/C turns on, but automatically turns off in a few seconds. The cruise control shows an exclamation sign and the horn is faint. When I stopped the car I noticed that the lights on the dash were kind of faint. Now, I am not sure I will manage to turn it on again. The battery seems to be on good shape. It has about 1,5 yr now and I could see that the indicator is green.
I recently worked with a friend get a '95 regal custom 3.1 with 178k miles and the only issue I cant figure out on my own is that the back up lights never come on when either shifting into reverse or through it. I've checked all of the fuses and replaced the bulbs and still not even a flicker.
I have researched online a bit and my only idea is it could be the back-up light switch/neutral position switch.. Would that be an accurate guess? And if so where at on the vehicle would that switch be located?
I just bought a 2013 F150 STX with a 5.0. I love the truck, but I can't get the back up lights to work. Checked all the fuses, and changed out a few relays with no luck.
View 9 RepliesFor some reason my back brake lights on my 2006 santa fe are all goofy. The two in the rear window work fine. The turn signals work fine but the right and left brake lights don't work. I replaced the10 am fuses and the lamps. It did not work at all. I don't understand how the top lights would work but the right / left wont. I even tried the flashers and the brake lights are not on either. I don't see a fuse in the box in the engine compartment labeled for rear brakes, so I am at a loss.
View 9 RepliesLeft headlight 2000 S-10 damaged in accident. The connectors to the low and high beam bulbs survived and they and the wires back to the fuse box look fine. Upon plugging in a new left assembly, the right side low and high no longer works. The relay was changed and the left assembly unplugged and back to the same point where every light on the vehicle front and back are working except the left low and high. The only things not hooked up are the left fender horn and the window washer motor. Those were unplugged to be able to get to the left light wires to check them out. Is it ok to use a test light with the negative battery on one wire and the other tried with all 4 sockets under the headlight relay to see if the volts are there to be sent to the left light?

I just finished the install of a rear fog into my B6 Passat following this guide. [URL] .... But I am getting a "Left Rear Reverse Light Fault" on my dash now, everything lighting wise works fine with the euro switch (parking/front fog/headlights/rear fog). Below is my vag coding. How to fix this?

View 1 RepliesI got a brand new 2011 Mazda 3 i Sport 4 door sedan in May and it's been great so far. Lately though, I have started to hear a sound coming from the back left hand side of the car. It really closely resembles the sound of tapping one's finger on a counter top. When I'm stopped, there's no noise but when I go I can hear it. As I go faster it goes faster as well and when I slow down it slows down. What is going on?

View 9 RepliesMy reverse lights aren't working. I assume the trunk cable assembly is fine, as all my trunk opening and latching works and there is no viable damage to the cable. I figured the bulbs were burned out but I pulled the trunk liner today and at least one of the bulbs looks intact. I don't see any fuse listed for reverse lights.

In good news. I have my rear fogs wired so that both sides work. ...the reverse lights stopped working like a week ago. So a crap rear fog install is not to blame.
I Have had my 99.5 jetta for 4 years now, car drives straight, no tire wear issues, but from day one I have noticed by looking in the wheel wells of both rear tires that the r/s rear is set back further than the l/s rear, l/s rear looks centered in the wheel wheel and the r/s rear looks to be back further and not centered, no evidence of any rear damage from a previous owner, car drives straight as an arrow , I'm stumped, all four tires have worn even in the past 3 years.
