Passat (B5) :: Any Way To Adjust Headlight Angle?
Jul 21, 2006
Driving the other night I realized that my lights aren't throwing enough distance. Is there some way I can angle them up to cast further in front of the car?

View 2 RepliesI just got a set of OEM headlights put in my car. The first time i drove it at night, i noticed that the driver's side headlight dropped short of the coverage that the passenger side headlight did (distance wise). How can i adjust this?
View 1 RepliesI just bought a pair of new headlight housings (the actual plastic housing that holds the headlight bulbs) for my 2000 Mercury Sable. This car is essentially a Ford Taurus with a different badge and different lights, if that makes it any easier for you. I installed the new headlight housings, but when I turned the lights on in front of my garage, the left light shines very low (below the bumper) and the right light beam shines very high (way above the bumper). The angle of the beams is uneven. I tried adjusting the position of the lights, but they are fitting in the socket perfectly. Is there any way I can change the position of the bulbs or housings so I can get an even headlight beam and actually see at night??
View 2 RepliesBought an 04 a couple of weeks ago and the passenger side headlight is way high.I turned the adjustment knob and it does nothing. The drivers side light is fine, but out of curiosity I turned that knob and it didn't do anything either.I'm thinking about buying an aftermarket assembly.
View 1 RepliesMy car just failed its mot . In the uk the offside beam is to far to the right . I have found the vertical adjust screw but can not see another . Nor have I seen anything on line about it . My car is a gen3 . 2010
View 4 RepliesAfter small collision with dear my right front headlight was replaced, but it is misalignment. I read few post about adjusting, with VCDS and mechanical. My main problem is that I unable to turn adjusting screws, I can turn it 90 deg right or left I feel that the only mechanism deforms, but no lens move at all. Is it something blocking? I was trying with VCDS and without, with key on and off ...
View 2 RepliesI would like to know how you adjust the headlight height on your Tig. Does it have an electrical control/wheel on the dashboard or are there any different ways of adjusting.
View 9 RepliesI recently lowered my wife's gs350 f sport and was wondering how to adjust the headlight beam? I followed the adjustment screws from the owner's manual and they tried to raise them, but they don't move. I know the headlights are adaptive so the move up and down with a motor so not sure if that is why they don't move with the adjustment screws.

View 1 RepliesI have just replaced the abs ecu and have cleared the codes, thought all was gonna be good but now two code are still coming up they are:
01044 Transmission control module - incorrectly coded
00778 Steering angle sensor-G85
1998 Passat 1.8T Sedan, Manual, 118k miles, new head at ~ 87k due to broken timing belt. (Changed oil approximately 1.5-2k miles ago, no loss of oil evident). No noticeable loss of power. No MIL and no DTCs in storage.
But there does seem to be a bit of exhaust (puff....puff.....puff...) that seems to be coming from under the turbo side of the engine, but it is hard to tell.
Recently - over the last couple of weeks - noticed at start-up in morning, significant amounts of blue smoke from exhaust - eventually subsides to nothing after a couple of minutes. BUT, it only seems to appear when the car is angled with its nose slightly up in the driveway and not with its nose down. Lack of it occurring with its nose down was only tried twice; I may need to check it again.
After reading many posts, I thought it might be:
1) Oil overfill at last change - I noticed that my oil was less than 1/16" above the top bend. I doubted that would be the problem, but I siphoned off the small bit and it is within or just below the bend now (hard to read). It might be the oil since I used the Valvoline full synthetic MaxLife that is VW approved for the first time, but I find that hard to believe since I have been using synthetic for a couple of years now.
2) Oil getting into the combustion chamber via oil in the turbo system. Checked the low spot in the hose just before the throttle body. Seemed virtually dry; that's not the problem.
3) I guess it could still be oil gathering some place due to the failure of the turbo, but power seems quite normal.
4) Problem potentially with the PCV (actually called the breather and bleeder valves) and/or vacuum system being plugged up. After reading all of the posts regarding that I am starting to think (HOPE) that is it and not the turbo. While I do understand that flapper valves that are stuck would create greater pressure which could result in oil being forced into the chamber past the valve seats, I am not sure why the angle of the car while parked would matter since the higher pressure would only be occurring while driving; and the blue smoke goes away after driving and doesn't appear until next morning. But perhaps I am missing something.
Particularly which valves I should check/clean if I am seeing this smoking exhaust at start-up, but only when the car is parked with the nose up?
5) Sticky valves at the back-side (cabin-side of the engine)?
Today I received my passat from the dealer's body shop after a rear end accident. Rear lid, bumper, reinforcement, lights, parking sensors, fuse and front seat belts replaced. So I suppose that no one touched the front end except for the towing bar cover. But I drove the car and found that the hood is shaking at high speed (200+ kmph) which is odd to me since the car was rock solid.
I opened the hood and felt that the release handle was loose ( can't feel the mechanism any more). Visually the right side of the hood is higher than the fender. Also pushing on the hood seems that it doesn't set on the rubber adjusters (there are 4 adjusters)
After making few adjustments (only the outer adjusters ) the hood is even higher than before although it is tight and the release handle felt good.
How can I lower the hood while keeping it tight?
How do you level or adjust the headlights on the b6 passat? I have the 2.0t halogen lamps but it seems like my headlights are pointing down???? Can i do this myself?

View 4 RepliesI had some body work done this summer after my wife sideswiped another car. Both passenger-side doors had to come off for repairs/replacement and repainting. The end result looked great but after a little while I noticed that the rear door is about 3mm lower than it should be--the chrome trim around the windows and the crease in the sheet metal don't line up with the front door and the rear window surround. I imagine that fixing the alignment is a matter of supporting the door with a jack, loosening the hinge bolts where they attach to the b-pillar, nudging it into alignment, and re-tightening the bolts, but looking for a more specific procedure?
View 3 RepliesJust bought a 2000 Passat GLX 4Motion wagon. It originally came from the US, thus, has the mph speedometer and the odometer is in miles. I
So, VAGCOM can adjust the odometer from miles to kilometers? Also, any info on where I might be able to get a instrument cluster in kph?
Is there something I need to do to get the ac to come out of the vents in the back of the arm rest for passengers in the rear like my 1 year old? I looked in the manual briefly and didn't see anything. Am I screwed without climatronic?

View 4 RepliesHow do you adjust the low beam headlights for a 06 Passat? I have found the vertical adjustment now I'm trying to find the horizontal adjustment. For some reason the lights are aimed way out to either the left or the right. Has been like this since I bought the car. Had the car a month, only 42,000 and it's already been in the shop 3 times. Everything from ignition coil, to steering column and comfort control module.
View 5 RepliesHow do you adjust the rear height on coilovers? I have the ST coilovers which are comparable to the KW. Do I have to compress the spring and then adjust? I tried to do it with the wrenches given but the whole thing just turns with it. I'm going to lower the front some more and I want to do the rear as well. It is my first set of coilovers on a car and I had someone else do the install.
View 3 RepliesSettings for B7 S model? Possible to adjust the timer for the headlights to remain on/off after shutting the car off? Seems there are minimal to no settings for this model. Wonder if a firmware update or the dealer can adjust this and other features?
