Passat (B5) :: ABS Module Light Going Off
Dec 23, 2010
Had the typical ABS light issues, diagnosed as the module. I just removed the module to have it rebuilt and the ABS light is still going off. I thought I read somewhere that if you took the module off it would at least stop the lights and beeping .

'99 Passat GLS - 79,000 miles - no mods ... Solid Check Engine Light was on for about 2 weeks...last time it was on, it was a fuel cap issue so I took my time with it. Well, all of the sudden on 4/14/03, on my way to work, (less than 5 minutes after starting the car) the car starts to ride hard (like going over grated pavement)...check engine light starts to blink! I pulled over. Eventually the light went back to solid.
Tonight (on 4th ignition sequence since picking up the car this AM) - the solid Check Engine Light came on again.
I had a friend who went through this with a 2000 Passat GLS - different dealer claimed it was the MAF, then the O2 sensors, then....she eventually took it to carmax to unload it.

Brake warning light came on. Diagnosed as bad abs module. Mechanic replaced twice. One shell sensor continues to read not turning while it is turning. Mechanic has check continuity, it's fine. Seems to have a short. He cannot find where it is and next step is ripping out much interior to track tiny wire. Will not pass state inspection with brake warning light on.

Took my 99 XLT super cab to a Ford dealer to have a new key made (I have only one so can't do it myself). I was told the PAT (Passive Anti-Theft) module wouldn't communicate with their system.....
As I understand it, the PAT module communicates wirelessly to the key module under the steering column. Since the PAT module is obviously working (the truck cranks, starts and runs fine). What are they talking about?

Where is it located in a V6 passat? I am having that problem where the oil, abs, and break lights are screaming at me... not to mention the tachometer stops working when they come on.

Looking for info on replacing ABS module themselves? I was wondering how difficult this job can be.

A friend of mine has got a B5 1999 passat, and it has the typical abs module failure. How to get rid of the light since he failed the safety inspection. He doesnt care about working ABS, and the inspection is just visually checking the dashboard. I've tried pulling the fuse, and/or physically disconnecting the ABS module, and neither of those work. Which wires should I jump on the module connector (and if it even is possible to do this)?

I have a problem with the Bold-Sport camera, but am not sure if it is the radio, the camera, or even possibly a fuse. I get a fault code with vcds that says the rvc control module intermittent/no signal. Once I clear the code, and put my car in reverse with the headlights on, the camera does not work, or works for a second, and shuts off. If i turn the exterior lights off, the camera seems to function normally. As soon as I turn exterior lights back on, camera no longer displays again. I have been having some problems with the rns-510, so am assuming it could be the radio, but am not too sure. The problem I have with the radio is that sometimes not all the interior light hard buttons light up. I will post up a pic as soon as I can.

I've been lucky to have had relatively few problems with my 2002 Passat 1.8T wagon, and it's already got 102,000 miles on it. But for the last 18 months or so, I get this clicking sound that the car normally makes when you have the blinker on, but it will come on randomly in short bursts, for 10 seconds or more and then go away. Even if I never use the blinker it will come on, though it always works when I am making a turn and legitimately using the blinker. How do you get this to stop? I already replaced the flasher unit (the hazard button switch) with a new one, and no luck. Is this a major wiring issue?

So I'm about to install an RNS-510 and I can't figure out where the Sirius module location is so I can install the extension that you need.
It's 2007 with 6 discs in dash changer with Sirius.

I have a 2002 Passat 1.8L T AWM Manual, 223K
I have noticed in the last little while, The car has a aplit second delay when I press the gas and it pulls.
I.e. If I'm on the highway, 5th gear 110km.h, I let go of the gas, soon as I press it again, a split second delay and it pulls with a slight jerk( Gas....... slight jerk. accel no problem).
Also, at times when the car is sitting overnight, my Airpump doesn't start when I start the car. In warmer weather, it always fires up after the car has been OFF for a period of time.
I got my Ross-Tech Vag and scanned it with no issues, except, my ABS module is not communicating.

Well it looks like the controller in the driver door is going bad. The key will only lock or unlock the driver door, the windows will not go up/down, nor will the alarm set/unset. The remote works as normal; it locks or unlocks one or all doors and sets or unsets the alarm. The lock/unlock button on the driver door works normally. The doors lock as they should above 10mph.
I've sprayed electrical contact cleaner in the lock several times. This did not improve anything. I wasn't very positive it would; the locks are lubed once about once a year anyway.
If you lock/unlock the door enough times with the key, you can sometimes get all the doors to lock/unlock and the alarm to set but it is very unpredictable. The problem might be in the controller.

Looking for instructions how to 'match' the Airbag control module with VAGcom? Bought a 2001 Passat 1.8T manual, found code:
01224 - Control Module Does Not Match Vehicle
35-00 - -
Full scan below. Note: bad ABS module removed and sent out for repair (that's why is does not show up in scan, and triggers other code).
Also need to look into crash sensor. Is that the one bolted to the floor under the front seats under carpet? Part number?

I have the below multi-function steering wheel installed on my 2008 Passat. The steering wheel came out of a 2010 CC and the buttons do not currently work.
Which steering wheel control module would I need and what is the price on that?
Besides the steering wheel control module and programming via VCDS/VAGCOM, do I need anything else for this to work?

I'm set on having the European parking light feature (when the car is parked and you walk away from it). For those of you not familiar with it, by changing the Instrument Cluster coding from a 2 (USA) to either a 1 or 4 (UK or Great Britain), you can turn the car off, hit the left turn signal assuming you are parked on the right side of the street, and after getting out and locking it the 194 amber front bulb and the LED red rear ring stays on. This aids in traffic seeing your car parked on the side of the road.
Problem is that once you change the country, you get this in the ABS Module:
Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 3C0-614-095-C2.clb
Control Module Part Number: 3C0 614 095 S HW: 3C0 614 095 S
Component and/or Version: ESP 440 C2 H015 0004
Software Coding: 0013752
[Code] ....
What changes need to be made in this module to avoid this? The pop-up window in the coding section doesn't say anything about different countries so I'm not sure which numbers need changed.
