My wife's Passat's ABS and Brake light comes on for a few seconds, but does not stays on. If the ABS is non-operable should both lights stay on?

View 6 RepliesI have a 2004 explorer that the brake lights stay on. Should I be looking at the brake pedal position sensor or something else?
View 2 RepliesThe brake lights stay on when I turn the lights on. If the light switch is off they work fine. Is this a brake switch? Or something else.....
View 3 RepliesHaving issue with the hand brake? It works fine, just when I want to release it, the brake light stays on and when you drive away hand brake warning comes up and I have to play with the handle to make the brake light go away after release...
View 8 RepliesI have a 2004 Treg with 28k miles. This car has the air suspension and the dashboard with the LCD display.
When the foot pedal break is released, the break light remains on and the center display sounds off the alarm that the foot break is on as the car begins to roll.
After half dozen additional pulls of the break release handle, the issue goes away. This is now happening almost every time the foot break is used.
I have a 2001 ex. 4x4 6.8 v10. I have been having vacuum issues and brake issues lately. My front brakes seem to be sticking, some times they drag some times the don't squeeze when I step on the brake causing uneven wear and pulling when I stop. Also feels like I have no power assist. I also have a vacuum issue with the auto setting on the hubs, they don't engage I have to manually lock them and sometimes my a/c stays on defrost. And my cruise control doesn't work, the light comes on and love done the self check but it doesn't show anything is wrong. Could I have a bad brake booster?
View 5 RepliesI recently noticed that my brake lights will not go out. I thought it was the brake switch, so I replaced that, but no luck. I have not replaced any bulbs recently. I checked all fuses. I disconnected the battery to try to reset something. Nothing has worked.
View 6 RepliesJust bought 01 passat wagon 2.8 v6 and my abs light is on as well as the brake light.
View 8 RepliesI have a 99 Passat Brake lights are not working, but center strip is. Replaced bulbs & fuse Could it be switch? Is center strip on a different circuit? Check engine light came on recently and then went out.
View 30 RepliesABS light and brake light flash and beep, no pad light, then turns my asr off. From what I've read... it could be brake switch or abs module? But what about battery or alternator taking a crap?
View 24 RepliesHappened to pop into my garage tonight and notice my brake lights on my 04 GLX won't turn off. I checked to make sure I didn't leave the main lights on or anything else I can think of. The only way I could get the lights to stay of was to pull fuse 13.
View 8 RepliesOk, so my brake lights don't come on when I hit the pedal, but the instrument cluster does. I checked the fuses and they're fine.
View 1 RepliesI have replaced the brake light switch two times - still nothing going on with the brake lights. The turn signals and taillights work fine (replaced all the bulbs anyway). For what it's worth, what made me start this repair was that the third light was coming on, but not the brake lights.
That is when I went to the dealer and bought a new brake light switch. After installing that, the third light didn't work...so, I downgraded what I had to begin with, it seems. Thought maybe I had done something to break it when I installed it, which is why I bought another one. As far as I'm concerned, I followed the installation instructions meticulously, yet still nothing.
I have also pulled all the fuses in the access panel by driver's door and inspected them.
My B5 has all three brake lights coming on (including top highline brake light in estate model) when the headlights are turned on. When the brake is pressed, they all stay on and glow a bit brighter.. Is this normal?
When the headlights are not turned on, the brakes work ok with all three rear red lights only coming on when the brake pedal is pressed.
Brake lights on my 2003 1.8 do not work. This includes the third light in the rear window. I've checked the fuses and bulbs and they're ok. The car recently was in the dealer for the re-call on the in-tank fuel pump. Is there something that I'm overlooking.
View 1 RepliesBoth brake lights not working. Center brake light works. Cruise control and shifting out of park OK. Fuse in brake circuit OK. Brake light switch is OK: I opened it up and the contacts are OK. Continuity is OK. Bulbs OK. Tail lights and reverse lights OK.
Car was rear-ended by a Durango at the bumper and boot lid about 2 years ago, but there don't seem to be any wires in the effected area. Battery changed 2 months ago: no problems with re-boot.
So I'm thinking short in brake circuit, but the center brake light works, and the fuse is OK. Is there a brake light relay? Inspection due.
My ESP warning light has been on for the past few days. Just noticed that 2 brake lights aren't working (but the centre brake light is OK). A common problem? Is is just a matter of replacing the brake light globes?
View 1 Repliesi have a 2001 Passat & my ABS & Brake warning lights have come on with no other symptoms. Brakes work fine - local mechanic can find nothing wrong!!
View 2 RepliesYesterday while driving my B5 Passat suddenly I heard 2 beeps and a STOP is displayed together with the ABS and brake warning lights just for a few seconds then turned to normal. I took the car to the VW service they've connected the car to the diagnostic system and said no fault. Since yesterday I saw this warning 1 more time. They recommended me to replace the break fluid tank where the fluid level sensor is mounted on, just for replacing the sensor since the fluid level is ok.
Today while the engine is running at idle I pulled out the break fluid sensor cable for 1 or 2 minutes but nothing is displayed and saw no break indication. What will be reason for this?
I have a 03 Passat with the 1.8T motor. I'm having a problem where the tail lights / brake lights will not turn off. Which fuse to remove so that I can save my battery.
View 4 RepliesRecently I failed my inspection on my 99 Passat due to a blinking brake light. I was told by VW service department that this was caused by a bad ABS unit. Now I can't pass inspection without proving that my brakes are fine but the ABS module is causing the blinking parking light.
