Yesterday when I was coming home my '01 started going on the fritz. The ABS light came on in the console, the Brake light started flashing, and in the onboard computer I received three kinds of messages, "Brake Fault" "Service Manual" and "STOP". What is going on?
View 4 Replies2001 01 1.8t... Hoping this isn't a bad ABS module. When I bought the car, I was told it was a bad wheel sensor in the drivers side. But, the funny part about this is its not on all the time, sometimes it doesn't even come on and the dash is normal.

View 5 RepliesI have a 2000 passat 1.8T and the ABS light and brake light comes on and shortly after the "stop, break fault "message shows up. The warning does not come on every time I drive the car only sometimes. Brake fluid has been topped off and everything else seems fine. Is it a bad sensor somewhere? Something else maybe?
My check engine light is also on and the code is p0118. I replaced the engine coolant temperature sensor but I still get the code. Was there some secret way to replace it that I didn't know about? Something else I should check?
I have gotten a STOP Brake Fault Service Manual warning sign on my car for a couple days and now my car wont start... no ABS light is on...
View 5 RepliesSo i just bought my 2003 passat wagone gls 1.8tand it has this "STOP" "BRAKE FAULT" coming up on the dash display and the ABS light and traction control light is on steady and the BRAKE light is flashing....a code was ran for the speed sensor and that was replaced but the light is still on....what could it be?????

View 4 RepliesMy battery had died and i purchased a new one. Once i had put it into the car i noticed the trip computer no longer worked. The time reset to 12:00 like expected but i can no loner change the time. Its still illuminated at night but i can no longer monitor gas mileage etc. I looked in the manual but could find no answer. Is there a way to reset it?
View 9 Repliesjust had the car in to be tinted...drove home, parked...and now the center trip computer display will not turn off. cars off, doors locked...it just stays on.
The guy who did my tint has a VW tatoo and loved the ride...he knew it had a euro switch (not installed by me), and said he had to disconnect the battery while doing the job because the headlights wouldn't go off unless the key was out of the ignition and he needed to roll the windows up and down (obvi).
There is a number that is displayed above the mileage when my 2006 Sonata is off. Sometimes it will be really low, and sometimes high. I have looked through the Manual and searched the forums, what this number represents?

View 10 RepliesAs part of my 60 mile commute everyday to work and back, I would stop by a gas station in a town on my way home that has 30 cent cheaper gas than where I live. The first time I fueled the car there was no problem. Then today even though my gas was at 3/4 full and I stopped anyways to put in 5 dollars.
What happened next was strange, before I stopped to fuel my range was at 448 miles, with the needle exactly on the 3/4 mark, then I put in 5 bucks the needle did not move at all and my range was still at 448 even after I started driving back on the highway again hoping maybe it would reset. The needle then slowly went up but then the range didn't go any higher and was still decreasing as I kept on driving.
The thing different today was I accidentally put in Unleaded PLUS so it mixed with the 3/4 tank of just regular Unleaded gas..but as far as I know that shouldn't affect anything..right?
I've had this car for a couple of years now and I think this week is the first time I didn't 'fill up' when I got gas. So now the trip computer is all confused on miles to empty vs the almost half tank I have on the fuel gauge. I've tried resetting the trip & holding the button to reset when miles to empty is displayed. I'm a little nervous with the miles to empty in the single digits now.
View 15 RepliesI used to drive an Acura which had an option to have the trip computer automatically reset each time after refuel. I spoke to my dealer and they mentioned that this is an option.. I was able to get the 'range' to display be default but haven't been able to figure this out yet.
View 10 RepliesI have a 04.5 GLI, recently my car has been giving me an alert that i'm having a break fault, it tells me to stop the car and check the service manual however I'm not having any trouble with my breaks at all, and I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, In the manual it says that I need to change my break fluid, but my fluid is fine, I was thinking maybe a sensor, or something is off?
View 8 RepliesI just bought an 04 F350 with the 6.0 diesel. I have the trip computer but it doesn't seem to be working, the screen is just off. Tried the buttons, nothing. Checked the manual, can't find anything. Is there a trick I'm missing? Or is mine broken?
View 3 RepliesAbout a month ago, I started my car and the computer started beeping saying STOP! check coolant...so i did....it was on empty...this was rather weird to me because i remember seeing it on normal like a week ago....so i added the coolant to the max level in the tank.....Two weeks later it was on the MIN level line....so i added some again....then a week later it decreased a little again.... it would seem that its a leak....however i do not see any wet spots under the car...it seems that the coolant disappears due to driving the car... Could it be the coolant? Also, how does G12 coolant differ from regular coolants sold in auto stores?
View 24 RepliesPulling out of the driveway my 2004 Passat's computer told me there's an issue with the coolant and that I should STOP, so I pulled back in. My VW dealer has this coolant in stock (G12, red) but considering it is 7 degrees outside (or minus 14 C) I wonder whether I can't ignore the warning and drive the 2 miles rather than get on my bicycle.
View 12 RepliesSo, after the dealer found an open circuit and "fixed" the running gear workshop fault, as you know, it was right back again. Today, it happened as usual. At a light, I turned off the ignition and restarted, as this always resets it and it usually doesn't come back for a day or more.
However, something different happened. After restarting, I got a fault I've never seen. By now, I was on the highway. "Brake Fault, in RED. Stop Vehicle" is what it said. Transmission would not shift out of third, and I'm on the highway with the RPMs up to almost 5 grand just to keep at around 50.
I get off the next exit, which seemed an interminably long way, shut her down, started it back up, proceeded where I had to go, parked, and came home over 30 miles with no further faults.
It's bound to happen again. I'm ready for a trade-in, for sure. 42,500 miles and it's definitely going to get worse.
