1999 Passatt ... My ABS system is shot and the "ABS BRAKE!" lights flash constantly, as long as car is on. I have been told to not replace the ABS system as it's incredibly pricey. I was told by another owner that he had heard there was a way to have this blinking stop pretty easily.
View 1 Replies2001 01 1.8t... Hoping this isn't a bad ABS module. When I bought the car, I was told it was a bad wheel sensor in the drivers side. But, the funny part about this is its not on all the time, sometimes it doesn't even come on and the dash is normal.
View 3 Repliesi just installed a electronic boost gauge in my 98 passat. I wired it to the headlight switch but now when i turn on my car.. about 10 seconds later the ABS light comes on and the brake light flashes. Why this is happening?

Here is the problem: Brake light will come on, flashing. ABS light on, fix. After 30/45 sec the brake light and the ABS light will turn off.( I do get the "STOP" message) The ASR/EDL warning light will remain on until I turn the engine off.
Next time I turn the car on, and after what appear to be a "drive circle" the "phenomena" repeats it self.
So I just bought a 2000 Passat v6. It's not my first VW so I do know a few things but here is my problem.
The abs light is on and the brake light is flashing and in the little display in the middle, it says brake fault stop see owners manual.
Was I told it's a abs sensor?
I was driving home from work on Tuesday and I saw a message flash across the MFD saying that I needed to check coolant and consult owner's manual. Also the coolant light was constantly flashing. I was quarter mile from my house so I just drove home, checking the temp to make sure it was ok. I got home and opened the hood to see no coolant in the reservoir, but there was some in the hose. I was like "ok cool I just bought this car 3 months ago but not a big deal." I also looked on the ground under my car quickly and there wasn't a leak. I happen to live about 500' from a VW dealership so called them up and they said bring it over.
When I got there the SA came out and took a look and said to give him 5 to fill it up and I'd be on my way. As I'm waiting in the lounge, I notice a puddle on the ground under my car. I told him about it and he confirmed coolant leak. But because I didn't buy the car from them, they wouldn't give me a loaner, so I had them fill it up and I took a ride to where I bought the car (30 mins away). Now I'm driving a new Jetta. I got the call from Balise yesterday (the dealership I bought it from) and they said my radiator core was defective internally, they overnighted a part and they started fixing it yesterday morning. Since it's such an involved job, only a master tech can do it and there might not be one there today (which I have to check on around noon) so I might not get it back until Tuesday. But I really can't complain (other than the fact that it's a brand new car), I have a car to drive and it's being fixed properly.
It probably was that damn lowerthanzimmy sticker. I realize defective parts are made, they can't catch all of them before they're installed.
So my girlfriends passat is starting to have some problems. It looks like a light show on the dash. When driving it, every now and then (a lot more now) the tach goes dead, and the oil and brake light flash, and it starts beeping. The car also has a ABS light on but that has been on for a long time.
So far I've checked both the oil and brake fluid levels, and checked all the fuses. Everything is good there. It just seems funny that they all go at once. I figure maybe one of the plugs to the cluster is loose giving everything a zero reading? I need to buy a vag cable and software some time that's for sure.
Security light constantly flashing whether running or not. Key fob doesn't work but battery is good (master key), car will start and drive fine though. The power locks don't work, top will not go down, gas door won't open with the button in the cabin (manual release from trunk is ok), trunk won't open unless I use manual release, the electric steering wheel works but not automatically and won't retract to the stored position, auto up/down on windows won't work, pass window control on driver door doesn't work but works on pass door, seat settings won't store, dome light doesn't come on when doors open and doesn't register them as open but puddle lights come on, fuses ok, power mirrors don't work, power seats and everything works individually. I think that covers everything.
View 14 RepliesThe air bag lite is flashing 3-3 when you start up the truck. After several 33 codes it stays on constantly. I look up on internet and 33 is "passenger air bag open circuit". Pulled the glove box door and disconnected the wires and wiggled and reattached, still have code.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2003 mountaineer v-6 awd drives pretty good but od light is always flashing even if ignition switch is open and truck not started..and check transmission on message display also..the only thing that i feel its really tight on turns as if it wants to lock up but once steering gets straight it runs fine... I know that a regular scanner cant pull codes I got to go to transmission shop but chances are there gonna tell me its trans time....

View 1 RepliesSo while driving my mom's 99 passat, after a few miles it gives six loud beeps, the BRAKE light comes on, the oil pressure warning light starts flashing, the ABS light flashes, and the tach sits at zero.
Brakes still work, havent tested ABS. there's no noticeable change in performance. I'm assuming this is the CCM and ABS modules on their last breaths.
i have a 2001 Passat & my ABS & Brake warning lights have come on with no other symptoms. Brakes work fine - local mechanic can find nothing wrong!!
View 2 RepliesMy girlfriend just bought a 98 XLT AWD 4.0. does have a few problems.
First, the brake light is on (on the dash). all the lines are good, but the front pads need to be changed. if i take off hard, the brake light goes out for a bit.
Second, had a CEL. P0743, torque converter clutch circuit blah blah. also, the o/d light flashes constantly.
The trans shifts fine, even under WOT. also goes into o/d with no problems, and the button works.
My brake light goes off and on constantly. It happens when I am on an incline, start from a dead stop or go over a bump/into a dip. The fluid is fine, the pedal does not get soft or hard to press. Could it just be that the float is shot and needs to be changed?
View 5 RepliesI started the car one morning after it snowed. the red "BRAKE" light is constantly on and while the car is moving it beeps which is extremely annoying.. I have tried:
-Topping off brake fluid
- another ebrake sensor (under the center console)
- brake pads have plenty of meat on them
- brake light are working
Two days ago my '03 Silverado stopped recognizing when I pop the parking brake loose and now dings incessantly while I drive and the parking brake light on the dash flashes on and off.
I tried...
1.) Engaging and releasing the parking brake multiple times.
2.) Checked the brake fluid level (perfect level)
3.) Checked my owner's manual (not enough info in the manual)
On my dash the prnds lights flash constantly. The car shifts fine and the paddle shifters work too.
View 2 RepliesI have a 99 Passat; 5-speed V6. My tachometer would go out intermittently and at the same time the oil and brake light would start flashing and the ABS light would come on solid. There would be no noticeable difference in performance. When the tachometer would come back on line the lights would go go. Now the tachometer appears to be down permanently and the dash lights above are in the same state as above. Still no noticable difference in performance. What may be wrong?
View 3 RepliesI took my 2000 passat 1.8t to a couple of places and both say that my abs and brakes are fine even though there is a flashing light that says brake lights failure and abs light. The brake lights do work. Is there a way for me to clear the code?
View 4 RepliesMy alternator went today, driving and the battery came on .. was concerned but was still on my way, abt 5 miles from my house the abs light and brake lights starting flashing and beeping .. and then caput .. the car shuts off .. figured it was the alternator, cuz thats whats logically made sense .. talk to vwvortex and if so how much do these type of jobs cost ??
