My wifes Passat wagon just got the 40k service and the dealer replaced the sway bar bushings in hopes of getting rid of some SQUEAKS that the car has made since we got it, it is lowered on h&r springs and bilstien shocks, however the sway bar bushings really didn't fix it, it seems to squeak when turning to the left and its definitely coming from the back.

View 11 RepliesJust did the rear brakes on my 05 EX. New rotors and pads. Now there is a squeal when going around a left turn. It is a constant squeal when going around a left turn, not a squeak-squeak-squeak. Sounds like it is coming from the left rear. Took it back apart to make sure I didnt miss anything and everything looks fine.
View 1 RepliesMy left rear suspension will leak down to bump stops unless I turn off auto suspension leveler. I can set suspension at high level turn off and it will stay that way i had set that way for 2 weeks and no leak but if I turn on leveler it may stay or it may leak down usually just left side somebody had said that my air bags were leaking so I tested it out all last month and find it hard to believe the bags are leaking if it will stay inflated a week or 2.
View 1 RepliesMy daughter has been learning how to drive on our 2010 Sonata GLS, which stands at about 108k miles. We've done threshold braking, ABS activation, some higher lateral force slalom-type stuff, etc. Suffice it to say that we haven't gone really easy on the car.
Now, there is a squeak that began at first at low speeds turning left. The squeak seems to be about one wheel revolution or so (speeds up when our speed increases, slows when the car slows).
After 30-60 minutes of driving around town (city driving and some rural), the squeak happens even when driving straight ahead. We haven't had any suspension work done on this car. I replaced the rotors and pads on all four corners last summer (and bled the lines).
What are the most probable causes of this (and what are the fixes), so I can start tracking it down.
So for about two years now I have had this creaking, squeaking noise coming from the left side of the truck. It only happens when turning left(such as 90° turns). It doesn't happen over bumps or while turning right. if you turn slowly the sound is minimal or not there. When it rains and there is water on the road the noise usually stops all together. The noise is not constant. Almost sounds like a shopping cart with bad wheel.
We replaced all the ball joints, tie rod ends, shocks, sway bar links, tires, sway bar bushings, and brakes(not all because of the sound, just taking care of maintenance along the way). My mechanic did my alignment about two months ago and could not pin the noise down and didn't see anything binding. Suggested to change out the sway bar links, but that didn't stop it.
Noticed a clicking noise when only turning left out of a parking lot today? What this could be? Sounds like it was coming from the driver side front wheel?
View 2 RepliesI'm new to vw and I have a passat 3.6 sel premium and I have been hearing a noise coming from my rear suspension when I have a full car or going over speed bumps and such. It took it to the dealer and they said that they couldn't replicate the problem, could it be the control arms or it's bushings? The car is only 6 months old smh.
View 8 RepliesI have an 07 GS350 RWD, 132K miles.
Symptoms: Very audible squeak from suspension front and rear (not as bad in the rear) when going over bumps. It happens mostly on the driver side. I can replicate the squeak when I push down on the car in the front. It only happens when the weather is warm, lately when it's been 60 degrees or less, it doesn't make any noise really.
Another squeak I'm hearing is when I get in the car first thing after it's been sitting a while, there's a squeak that's coming from mid-body area (I think), and happens when I turn right, transferring weight to the driver side.
I've searched and saw numerous threads but haven't really been able to get a clear idea of what may be causing this. I did have someone lube the control arm bushing (at least I think we did) and the noise did not go away. Car feels smooth, but I wouldn't rule out shocks as a culprit. I'm trying to get ideas and narrow things down so I can start hunting for it when I have free time.
The rear suspension on my 2013 F Sport AWD with 27,000 miles has started to squeak slightly. It doesn't do it all the time but is audible from within the car even with the stereo at low volume. When the road is smooth it's quiet but it'll squeak on even slightly uneven pavement.
Of course the F Sport has air suspension. I haven't experimented with the different ride settings or height adjustment yet but it is audible in Normal mode.
Driving over some speed bumps today I noticed alot of squeaking coming from the front of my car. I am guessing it's the shocks. Is this a sign that my shocks are going out, or are they just normally squeaky?
View 10 RepliesOn my way into work this morning, I started to notice a rattling sound coming from my left rear wheel. By the end of my :45 min drive, it was a loud continuous bang. After limping the car to my office, I inspected the recently repaired rear shock to find the bolts securing it to the vehicle were gone!

View 14 RepliesI have a 2013 tdi. 40k miles. For the past few weeks iv been hearing a noise from the front. On small bumps or potholes or just going over a bumpy road its. Its like a rattle clunky sound. Going in my driveway I hear it too. I also noticed there is a squeak when i hit a medium to bigger hole. This is really annoying because this car is fairly new. Is the dealer gonna cover it if there is anything wrong?
View 5 RepliesNeed to identify what could this be? It used to come and go, now it's constantly here. I took it to the dealer but there was a 3 hour waiting time, so I might have to go another time. If you do know what is it, could I fix it myself? While driving there's no squeaking, but I can hear a metal on metal sound while on bad roads, the type of noise you would expect from a bad tie rod or something like that, on good roads it's fine. View 1 RepliesMy front suspension squeaks very loudly when going over even the slightest of bumps. I've looked at similar threads and have noticed some people replace the entire control arm, some just replace control arm bushings, others change the strut mounts/bearings.
Am I better off replacing all 3 components (control arms, bushings, and strut mounts/bearings) or just doing CA bushings and/or strut mounts? Do control arms normally need to be replaced? Car has 90K miles, and is daily driven year around during the cold Minnesota winter. My knowledge of suspension components is limited.
after I had my springs installed I noticed this air sound when I go over bumbs. is this normal.? if I upgrade my shockts to aftermarket will they make the same sound?
View 9 RepliesMy wife just bought her first truck, a 2008 F150 about a month ago. We have been driving it around since then and love the truck. The only real problem that I have seemed to encounter on the truck is a squeak coming from the front left wheel area. I can hear it when I cut the steering wheel and when I hit a big bump/pothole in the road. My dad and I have looked into it and he thinks that it is probably the axle joint where it goes into the steering knuckle/spindle. If it is this axle joint, is there a way to service/grease it and go on, or will it just simply need a new axle shaft?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2008 f350, crew cab,6.4L. with 27,173 miles. may have a problem with the steering, seems to be tight when turning from left to right or right to left, doesn't seem to center, if I turn a little to left or right it stays there. I can go in complete a circle. Raised front off ground turns ok no binding, nothing loose on the front end.

For those who cant see the video, its making a high pitched, metal on metal noise... at all speeds... especially when making slight turns... my foot was not on the brake when the video was taken (coasting around the parking lot at around 10 mph)...

Toyota Dealership mechanic : Definitely strut mount
2nd check from private mechanic : Definitely sway bar links (he wanted to change all four and sell me new llinks for $100 a pair.)
3rd check from sears service : Sounds like sway bar links, but it might be the struts, I cant say. I dont think its the mounts though(i asked of course). He checks sway bar links and says he doesnt notice any thing different from the ordinary, he thinks its tight. (but also thinks its possible its the problem). Basically left me more confused that i was.
