Passat (B5) :: 2004 - Way To Shut Off EPC

It snowed in New England last night so i went out for a spin in my Passat (2004 1.8T 5spd 4-motion APR chip) and when i laid into the gas for a what i expected to be a glorious snow throwing power slide it sounded like the antilock system was engaging like crazy and the car didn't exactly do what i expected. This is the first snow since i bought the car so i may have been hitting thin snow areas of the parking lot which it made it feel funny and in the rain i've had no problem getting the car sideways (so i'm guessing it was user error.. ). But, regardless of whether or not i'm used to the car in the snow, is there a way to turn off the EPC on that model Passat? Now i looked around the dash and i didn't see any EPC button so can it not be shut off? it's as simple as one button on most Audi's seems like it would be a logical crossover button.

I have a B5 99.5 AEB and having rough idling. Started the car in the morning seem fine. Later that evening started up again in a warm up idle and then the car shut off. Tried starting up again but took couple of minutes. Pumped the gas piddle started up but looking at the idle gauge needle was bouncing around. I don't think i have an vacuum leak.

One of my rear doors doesn't quite shut all the way. There's about 1/4-1/2 inch gap. its not leaking badly or anything like that, it just doesn't look that great.

Okay, so I was looking for a parking spot and my car just shut down. I didn't think much of this at the time because i was rushing to take a class for school. On my way home I was on the freeway going 75mph and it SHUT down again. So what happened was it was in drive and the the motor just stopped running and I costed in the gore zone. So I tried to start it and it wouldn't, I gave a few seconds and removed the key then tried again and it started. when I got closer to my house it happened again and this time through a CEL and the oils pressure and battery light were flashing and on the screen it said "STOP!" I did the same thing and got it to my house. Whats going on????

Every so often my trunk lid freezes (aka boot lid) shut. The release seems to function, but ice holds it shut. I tug fairly enthusiastically on the handle above the license plate, but it doesn't budge. I've tried pushing down around the sides of the lid hoping to confuse the ice and cause it to break loose but that hasn't worked? I haven't been desperate enough to try pouring warm water anywhere, or to really try to force open the handle (assumed it would break).

First noticed it several minutes after I shut the car off, then realized it was making the same noise while running.
I have never heard anything quite like this, including my A4 which runs much hotter than the Passat. Sounds like the exhaust is expanding and contracting...not sure why it would do that.

I am having a problem with my trunk.. it started when i removed the fuse for my interior lights. When I put the new fuse in the alarm started to go off to make a long story short i had to re program my key and i could finally start it without the alarm sounding. My lights still don't work but I don't know what else to do.. Ever since that little accident happened now my trunk wont latch shut. When I push the button on the fob the trunk doesn't even make a sound!! I feel stupid driving around with my trunk open...

One of the rear doors on my Passat is jammed shut. If you lift the locking button it pulls itself back down and if you try to open the door from either inside or outside nothing happens, except lift the locking button up and down. I've taken the inside panel off as much as I can but don't know what to do now to open the door.

I have a audi a4 1.8t engine code atw and for awhile i would have random no starts then about two weeks ago it shut off while i was driving home from school and hasn't started since. it turns over fine but i am getting no spark and im getting the error codes p1517, p1433, and p0321 so far i have changed the crank position sensor, the cam position sensor, and the ecm main power supply relay. Still I am getting no start i cant figure this out...

Lately Passat 2006 come up with new problem, when I stop at red light and hold brake engine kicks once or twice like it wants to shut off. right now it has only 1 error code P2181 coolant problem( check engine light is ON since I've got this car -own more then 5 years but before it was some air manifold code and p2181). I don't think this code related to this problem, I know my thermostat is not working properly- temperature is jumping from 160 to 200 when driving but never overheat. Beside kicking engine, it's takes little longer to start up engine in the morning, once I drive, it's fine- I can start in seconds.
7 month ago mechanic replace water pump and timing belt.
I found : " When the car is running, try taking the oil cap off- if you have to fight to even get it to turn, then it is a problem with the PCV valve on the front of the valve cover. It is a common issue. The valve sticks open and applies full manifold vacuum to the crankcase".

My car sometimes at a stop sign may randomly shut off. I try to turn the car back on and it cranks longer than usual. Then it will turn on and my epc light will turn on. And my rpms would stay at about 10k to 11k. What's going on here? Only CEL light I have on is maf sensor and i have a bad abs module.

2002 VW Passat 1.8T ... Ever since I got a new MAF sensor installed in my car, I've been having difficulties starting up the car. When I turn the key in the ignition it starts up very weak as if its going to shut off again. After a few seconds its ok but it worries me because when I turn it on at first it shakes a bit and starts up as if its going to shut off.
I began to notice when it wasn't driven for long periods of time (hours) it started up with a lil weakness but not as severe when started up while driving short periods(minutes) Also with the short periods the car has actually shut off a couple of times. It begins to start up very weak and shaky and then just shuts off. Once I get moving the car is Ok its just as its starting up.
Oh yeah I forgot, the gas mileage is horrible! I am at half a tank and I've driven 100 miles. Sounds fishy to me.

I have an 06 Passat 2.0T, and last night whenever I shut off the car, the cooling fan is constantly running. I had to unplug the battery so it wouldn't drain it, and about 5 hours later, I hooked it up and it stays off. I also noticed when turning on the air conditioning, the smaller fan doesnt kick on. I'm lost and don't know where to start. Could it be a thermal switch or the whole fan assembly

I have a 2000 Passat 1.8T and I am having a weird "harmonic" (for lack of a better word) vibration that is constant from start up to shut down, I just had the motor mounts replaced and the chain tensor replaced, I have 125K the car. Tires are new as of April and I have had this issue long before then. I have also noticed randomly the idle goes kind of physco for a few seconds here and there - not sure if the two are related.

As of about a week ago I have noticed that while driving once in awhile the dashboard will just shut off for about 2 seconds and go black all dials drop to zero and then it will come back on again but with everything reset to 0. I also now have an airbag fault lit up on the dash that was never there before. The car runs fine and does not shut off or anything when this happens but is unnerving. I scanned the ecu and no codes.

I'm hearing some sound when I shut off my car. There is a faint, air pump sound coming from the passenger rear area near the fuel filler door. It has run the last 3-4 times I've shut off the car recently and runs for a few minutes after shutting the engine off (welcome home lights go off, all doors are closed and the pump sound continues).
This isn't the fuel pump sound that happens when you open the driver's door and the fuel pump primes. This is a quieter, air pump sound from the rear of the car. I'm guessing it's related to the fuel system? Maybe pressure testing the vapor recovery system or fuel tank/gas cap for leaks?

I recently purchased a 2014 VW Passat SEL Premium. About 500 miles on it. Last weekend I took a 200+ mile trip (100+ miles each way) and had no issues. Today I drove the car for about 10 miles and when I got home, I turned the car off and noticed a fairly loud noise coming from the engine. It sounded like a fan but I wasn't sure. It almost sounded like the engine was still running. I turned the car back on (to make sure it wasn't the engine) and it started right up. I turned it off again and the fan noise was still present. It stopped on its own after about 5 minutes but this was a little disconcerting, especially since this is my first car with a diesel engine. I'm not sure if this is typical. The VW dealer says this is perfectly normal, more so on short rides as opposed to long rides. The fan runs to cool down the engine after shut off. Does this sound legit?

My cousin was driving his car last weekend and the car shut off on him, after we towed it home i hooked it up and got the following codes:

I cleared the MIL and its off but its still throwing the second code.. What would cause this? failing fuel pump?

The inside lights on my 00 Passat does not go off when i shut the door and so i keep getting the buzzing sound as if door still open. Because of that I can't use the remote to lock the door. I don't see anything around the hinges or the side of the lock on the door that makes the lights turn off when the door is shut. What this could be? This is on the passenger side. I cant even lock all the doors with the key, i have to press the lock button inside the door first before i can lock the driver door.

I have a 99 Passat 1.9 Automatic with door lock problems .The LR door is stuck in the shut position and the passenger doors front and rear can not be closed the latch doesn't hold the door close ,I have to tie them up with a rope to drive.The only one that works normally is the driver's door luckily. Where to start ?. If I force the lock knob on the Left rear door from inside goes back in and I can't open that door at all.
