When lowering your vehicle one side has to be adjusted alot more. I was lowering my vehicle to make the rear even. Notice that the passenger rear had to be lowered more than the driver side.
View 20 RepliesI have a 2004 F150 with a 5.4L with a little over 100,000 miles. And the engine knocks like it about 1 1/2 quarts low on oil! I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I'd like to know how to get this fixed. I've actually had 2 different people ask how I got a diesel engine in a 1/2 ton truck!
View 11 RepliesSo back in the fall when the clocks needed changing, i changed the clock in the passat, and every so often i'll get in the car and its back an hour. i'll fix it, but then it goes back to being an hour behind. sometimes it takes a few days but it always gets behind an hour. I've tried researching this but found nothing.
When i installed my winter wheels (w/o sensors), the low pressure warning came on, so i disabled TPMS via VAGCOM. everything was fine for a few weeks, but now it says tire pressure too low constantly. I checked with my vagcom and the tpms is still unchecked in can gateway.
I've got a 2000 passat 1.8t (ATW) Tiptronic with a GIAC chip a trubo smart bov and a new performance boost gauge. I've got a problem. My gauge habitually indicates me that i peek to around 15psi to after drop to around 11 but if i drive my car to hard for to long or i get to around 180kph, my boost decreases instantaneously to 5 psi. After, the only way to regain my boost is to let the car cool down on idle for 2min an then turn it off for 2min.
After that, every thing comes back to normal. If I don't do that, the car wont regain boost. You can drive like a grand-mother for 45 min and put your foot down you'll still see the boost go up to 5psi and just stop increasing. It's like it set itself an other max boost limit. I though it could be some sort of a safe mode because the turbo is over heating (it's red hot). I thought a oil cooler could maybe resolve the problem but i don't want to spend 200buck on that if it doesn't do anything.
The dealer tells me my batteries in my low tire sensors are bad. The low tire light on the dash won't go out. So I need to replace the TPMS sensors in my '06 type 5 Prius. I know I can pick them online much cheaper than at the dealer. My question is, is there some reprogramming that will need to be done. I'm assuming it will be some convoluted sequence with buttons on the dash similar to turning off the backup alarm, etc.
View 3 RepliesMy '08 Prius Touring is in the shop today because the 'check engine' light came on at 68,500 miles. I just got word from them that the catalytic converter is bad and needs replacement. Good thing I bought the extended warranty! Well, I searched the forum for similar problems and it seems like this is somewhat common, albeit on cars with a bit more mileage and maybe a year or more older. I don't abuse my car at all, though I often roll into full-throttle while merging.
Is this a symptom of a poor part design or of a system that fouls the cat over a certain amount of time? I'm not looking forward to replacing it again at 130K after my extended warranty expires.
I just took the car to the dealer, for a recurring Check Engine light, and after changing the gas cover 2 months ago, now they tell me that it needs to replace the Charcoal Canister pump . I have a 2008 Prius, bought used 18 months ago, with approx. 70k miles

I recently starting hearing a beeping noise coming from the inside of my car and then i noticed the traction control symbol on my dash. I looked up the symbol in my manual and found it to be the traction control. However, I am not sliding when this is happening. I am just going around a corner, or in 1 case just merging on the highway. I have had this car for several years and it didn't operate this way, so something is definitely wrong.
One additional piece of information - My rack and pinion steering just got replaced in the last couple weeks. However, I called that shop and they told me the two are not related. I'm not sure, so I just thought I would add that piece of information in case it matters.
I have a 2002 Camry with 302,245 miles. I am noticing that it is using a lot of oil. Maybe 2 quarts extra in between oil changes.
I came home tonight and noticed oil on the garage floor. At first I thought it was water from the AC but it smelled and felt like oil.
Could the engine be burning oil and a possible leak?
I have a 1999 toyota corolla I just bought it for my daughter for her first car the only thing I've noticed is that it only had 1000 miles on it since I changed the oil and that it was 3 quarts low? Not sure what happened but I checked it again after her second 1000 miles and it was again 3 quarts low. The car does not leak oil and does not smoke
View 2 RepliesMy buddy has been telling me that his 2000 dodge Dakota v8 sport is burning 4 quarts of oil a day. Note that he only drives roughly 25 miles a day. The truck is claimed to have no oil leak whatsoever and this happens around 2500 miles after every oil change. I find it very hard to believe.
View 19 RepliesMy 09 matrix is using about 3 quarts of oil every 5000 miles. I bought the car new and it has 114,000 miles on it. I don't notice any smoke or leaks anywhere.
View 14 Replies1995 sedan, how many quarts does the 1.9 liter dohc engine hold.
What weight should I use?
Seems to burn a little oil, anything to reduce this?
My 2009 Dodge Journey is great for the first 2,500 miles after each oil change, then the oil just seems to vanish. The dealership has been tracking this for a couple of cycles... the oil level is fine when they check it every 500 miles, but somewhere between 2,500 and 3,000 miles about 2 quarts disappear. No apparent leaks or puddles.
So... now the Dodge dealer is saying they want to tear down the motor to "find out what's wrong," but they can't even tell me what they're looking for. What they should be looking for? Also, they are not fessing-up if they have seen the same problem in other vehicles, but it's hard to imagine they randomly got permission to do this.
My 4.2 l f150 has been losing a lot of oil.7quarts in a week.the truck runs great and it does not smoke.i have been under the truck looking for any significant leaks.I left it parked on concrete overnight no oil drips. I've had my wife rev it up while I was under the truck cannot find anything
View 5 RepliesI had my SUV (2000 Ford Expedition) tuned up. I'm losing about 1-2 quarts of coolant every couple of days. While I was having the tune up done, I asked the mech to try to find where the coolant is going. He couldn't. He did say that they'd pumped the system up to 18 lbs (it's got a 16 lb cap) and it held for 45 minutes, so I'm a little (little-little) less afraid that it's my head gasket. Questions are these:
1. Could my 16 lb cap be at fault? It got pretty gunky when I mixed the coolants (see my post - Don't cross the streams).
2. Could my rear heat exchanger be leaking and where would the coolant come out? It's got rear air and heat that's controllable form the second seat.
I never see water on the ground or dripping. No white exhaust to detect. Doesn't run rough at all at startup. In other words, none of the traditional head gasket indicators.
My 26 row 6.0L cooler should arrive today. I was going to use the advanced auto parts discount code to order more Mobil 1 Tranny fluid. How many more quarts the 6.0L holds than the standard V10 tranny cooler?
View 5 RepliesI have a 1994 ford ranger with the 4cyl. My problem is that it uses 1-2 quarts of oil every couple of days and I cannot find a oil leak. I have pressure washed the whole underside of the truck and degreased the engine and i can not find a oil leak. It dose not smoke all the time but every now and then there will be a little puff of smoke out the exhaust and then every now and then every now and then (only when i stop) it will come a huge cloud of smoke but when it does it. I cannot ever tell where it comes from. But the truck runs fine and dosn't miss or anything...
View 7 RepliesI have a touchscreen that the dealership provided me but with the catch that I've got to install it myself, pretty sure it has something to do with the state the previous stereo was taken out, all I'm left with are a cluster of wires none of which I know are for what.
View 2 RepliesIm new to the site and i was wondering would i need a HID wiring harness with the fog lights like i would the headlights(low beam)?
