Passat (B5) :: 2004 - Programming The Factory Garage Door Opener
May 4, 2008
We just traded in our 91 passat for a 2004 passat. I am trying to program the factory garage door opener that is on the drivers side sun visor. I have read the manaul and cannot get it to program to my door. I tried holding down buttons 1&3 untill it flashes, Then hold down #1 Button and then the "learn" button on the opener (at the same time) then the remote will flah slow then fast when it has the code. Is it possable it will not work with a 6 year old Chraftsman opener?

Should the garage door opener buttons (1 through 3) light up at night with the headlights, etc. on...? I
'm thinking they should and I'm missing a "turn on" somewhere.
They are very hard to see in the dark.

I realize this is probably really easy but I don't have my owner's manual.

2001 Wagon : My fuel door opener is sporadic. I put a meter on the plug at the solenoid and I get 12V(ish) when I push the fuel door button. I took the solenoid off and connected it straight to a battery and it moves.
So I am thinking that it is just not getting enough power (current). I wanted to jump the switch, but it has four wires and I have no manual or anything like that. What the four wires do at the switch? There is only two at the solenoid....

Gen 3 2011, rear view mirror grarage door opener light has a constant dim blink. The second light which indicates reflective repression will not turn on or off. That light should be on at night all the time.

When our 2008 Outback (75K miles) is running the garage door remote in the car will not open or close the door. New batteries in the remote, so that can't be the cause. We have to turn the car motor off, operate the remote, then start the car again. We have to follow the same procedure when getting back into the garage. This just started about a month ago and does not happen with any of the other cars in the garage when opening or closing the same door, i.e. the remotes operate with their motors running. Is it possible there is some new electrical discharge from the car that is causing this? Something unusual with the alternator? Other possible causes?

I've been trying to program the remote on 2 keys. With the sequence found online and in this forum, I did the insert/remove several times with no success. I then tried to turn the master key ON/OFF TWICE, which erases all the other remotes. Still did not program the new key, but now it seems to have affected my door lock buttons in the doors.
When I hit the lock buttons inside the car, the lock is sluggish, and I cannot repeatedly lock/unlock from the door switch. The second or third try gets a dull thud and the door lock only moves partially into the lock position.
Is it possible to reset the door locks so they again click in place with a nice, beefy motion?

I have just purchased a 2000 Passat 1.8 mfg 2/29/2000. I have no keys. I will have to get keys made and want to know if they require special programming. Dealer said its on fence maybe maybe not. Depends on when built. Any other info about what to look for would be nice. I look forward to being able to contribute in the future. For now I'm a newbie.

took my car to the dealer to get a key programmed. Its a 2006 passat 2.0t 6speed auto. Anyway, they couldn't get the key to read and now I have a fault on my dash. "Immobilizer adjustment fault". How do I get rid of it?

I received a free keyless remote for the passat from a friend and would like to program this remote to my car. I tried the method that everyone is talking about online, which is to turn the ignition to the "on" position with one key (w/o starting the car). Then put another key on the driver side door and turn to unlock position and hold until 3 beeps. I've held the key for over a minute and still don't hear any beeps. What am I doing wrong?

Recently, i realized the doors would automatically unlock after sitting in garage or parking lot for a night. In the beginning, i was thinking maybe that was my fault that i didn't lock it. However, I double double double checked every time when i left my car. the next day, it was unlocked.

2009 ES350. Yesterday, I came back from work to see that our garage door was left open all day then in the middle of the night, I saw that it was opened again. Luckily, nothing was taken from our garage. When I checked the homelink button, it was jammed in (stuck) which most likely is causing this. When I tested the button, it keeps getting stuck.

I'm not sure this is by design but the buttons for sunroof and garage door are not illuminating at night. I would like to know if your vehicles have the same behavior. I try to look for any info in the manual but can't find anything. I thought there would be a switch somewhere that turns this on and off but I can't find it anywhere either. My brother-in-law has a 2012 Toyota Sienna van and these buttons do light up at night while my 2012 RX350 does not. I find it interesting for a luxury vehicle.

I recently picked up a 2014 LX that has a Front Wide Camera in the grill (Im sure they all do). So when I go to park I noticed that the front Lexus Park Assist Sensor doesnt come on and start beeping as I get closer to the garage door nor does it come up on the screen. I took it in to get it looked at, and the dealer said they programmed it, but all they do is turn the front camera on to "Auto". My question is, is the front Park Assist Sensors not enabled if we have a Front Wide Camera? I tried looking in the manual and it shows you could adjust it, but when I check the settings I could only adjust the rear sensor.

Once in a while after I get home, then leave again a hour or two later, I have a real strong gas smell coming from somewhere. I don't see anything on the ground coming from my car, but it is pretty strong.

After parking the car in the garage this afternoon I heard this motor like noise cycling on and off from the rear of the car. It was real faint but definitely noticeable. It lasted perhaps 10 - 15 minutes before quitting. What it could be?

I've got a 04 Passat TDI wagon with factory keyless locks. The remote/keyless entry range sucks! And yes I put a new battery in it. I've had cheapo alarms operate much further than this factory system. Can I extend the range somehow? Does the keyless transmit through the antenna? Are there any range boosters or ways to make this a real world usable feature?

this is something that has bothered me since i bought the car but never bothered to figure out. but its really beginning to get under my skin. so i have all factory OEM bixenons, unsure if the bulbs have ever been replaced. its a 2008 with almost 95k miles now, and did have DRLs enabled when i bought it. when driving my wifes A4 with OEM bixenons, the light output compared to my b6 is insane. its almost as if im driving with corrado headlights in my B6 compared to her A4. i also had the opportunity to drive my father for his birthday last night in his '10 535 and his OEM HIDs are about the same as my wifes A4. somethings wrong here and id really love to figure this out! is it time to replace the bulbs? this is my first car with HIDs, do these 'wear out' over time and get duller as time goes on? really trying to avoid taking the bumper off for a headlight bulb change but i guess theres no way around it.
