Passat (B5) :: 2003 - Where To Find Paint Color Code
Jul 2, 2008
I bought some touch up at the dealer and it is not the right shade of gray.
Where can I find the paint code on the car?
I have a gray metallic 2003 wagon.

View 2 RepliesI need to order some touch-up paint for my 2014 platinum grey metallic SE. I'm told I need to find the paint code even though I know the name of the color. Where to find this on the car? Also, where to get touch-up paint? I know I can get it from the dealer, but perhaps it's less expensive elsewhere and/or better quality.
View 1 RepliesOver the past few months I have noticed a line running across the front of my hood where the paint is starting to come off. The rest of the hood is starting to look like the clear coat is coming off too. I wax it every few months. This is the only part of the car that is doing this.
I have looked around to see if there is a corrosion warranty or something and cant find anything. Is there anything I can do about it. 2003 VW Passat...
So my son cut the factory speaker wires on his Explorer. I bought a new radio for him prior to the "CUT" and the new radio comes with a simple wire harness (2 green, 2 purple, 2 white, 2 grey). The picture shows the factory wires attached to factory module. The "New" speaker wire harness identifies which wire is for what speaker but I need to know what factory speaker wire would attached to the new wires. Based on the picture, how to identify the speaker wires and determine which wire goes to which speaker?

View 3 RepliesI'm kind of worried about the coolant in my 03 2.8 passat. it is a pinkish/orangish color, but im worried they topped it off with dexcool at the dealer. is it okay to mix g12 and dexcool or am i looking at a gelled up mess?
With that note, can you run g12+? or do you recommend to stick with the oem g12?
I can't find a listing for a 511 diagnostic code for my 1994 960.
View 1 RepliesI have a 1999 E-350 Van that has a 7.3 and 4R100 in it. The OD light has been blinking, but I can not read any codes. I have tried multiple scanners (Snap On Solus, AutoEnginuity software on laptop with the Ford enhanced package, just to name a couple), and none of them are coming up with any codes for the transmission.
I have a TS 6 position tuner and monitor on the motor, and while going up thru the gears, it appears that the transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd fine, and it feels fine. The 2nd to 3rd shift tho is another story. It seems that the transmission is going into 3rd and immediately locking the converter. Depending on which power setting it is on, it is violent enough to chirp the tires (while it sounds fun, it cant be good). It shifts into and holds overdrive fine.
I've been getting these 2 codes (P0113 / P0113P <--?) for a few months now. I know what P0113 means but I've never heard of P0113 P?
Ive cleaned the MAF w/ CRC MAF cleaner. Ive swapped out MAFs and I still get the code every week or so. I ordered a new gas cap & gasket but it seems to tighten fine so I dont know.
Is there anything else I can check?
The GX idles fine, even with the CEL light on. No weird noises or anything else wrong that I can see / hear / feel other than the still 11-12 MPG I'm getting.
I'm going to look at an 05 prius tomorrow and the seller said there is a check engine code. If I had a list with description I can at least know if it could be serious. He said the car drives fine and everything works. Not sure if there is a difference in codes for engine versus the hybrid part of the car .
View 1 RepliesNoticed a chip on one of my wheels today and would like to get some touch up paint. What is the paint code or the closest color touch up paint for the grey painted 20 inch wheels?
View 2 RepliesToday I got out of class and noticed bubbles underneath my paint. I touched with my finger lightly and the paint flaked and came right off.
There is about a foot strip where the rear valance meets the chrome strip that this is happening too.
I know I need to get it repainted. But why would this happen, there were absolutely no accidents to this section of the car. I get a carwash about twice or three times a week. Could that be the cause.

During the first month or so after I got my '07 3.6, the car was accumulating damage at an alarming rate. It seemed like every time I looked it it, I found something new in the way of paint damage, and this in spite of the fact that it lives in a garage at my house and is completely safe there, isn't driven much, and is parked away from absolutely everything all the time (I'm nuts about that.) Much of the damage was in the form of paint chips - some in unusual areas, such as in the middle of the right A-pillar. And these chips were right through the paint to raw metal. I was wondering, "how can this possibly be?" Other stuff happened too - like long scratches the full length of the roof (not through the paint, however). I could never understand any of how this was happening, and it has since subsided. But that the time, I could only come up with two explanations:
1) the car is just a damage magnet. (I actually have a theory that some cars just are. My Touareg was not. Nothing EVER happened to it, and when I turned it in for the Passat this past spring with 30k, it was virtually flawless)
2) The new paint on the car had failed to harden properly (also hard to accept, but perhaps easier to accept than the damage magnet theory).
I have a 2003 dodge neon, a couple days ago i hit a bump and bottomed out on the front bumper and pulled a transmission hoes. after repairing that my car is now over heating, i have replaces the thermostat and the upper radiator hose. i am not leaking coolant, i have talked to several people on this and they say that it is either my water pump or i have a vapor/air lock inside the block, when i was replacing the thermostat i noticed that my coolant was a milky tannish color and was "chunky" and that is what is making people say that it is an air lock. but my hear is not blowing hot air, that makes me believe that it is the water pump.. when i start the car it take the usual 10 or so minutes to reach normal temperature just like it did before all this, but then it shoots up to almost over heating in less than 5 or so minutes.. I am really stumped by this and i am a college student so i rally cannot afforded a mechanic unless absolutely necessary....
View 17 RepliesI have a 99 f150 XL 4.6, 5 speed. I spent some time tracing the leads around the ignition system to find the EDIS module. The purpose of this is to install a aftermarket tach coming off the EDIS. This seems to be a simple approach and I have a pin diagram handy for it. I am initially shying away from tapping into the EEC. Maybe better yet, what wire color to splice behind the gauge cluster that would be useful too.
View 1 RepliesI have a 1.8T 2000 Passat (ATW) that has an oil leak. I can't find the leak but it seems to be under the intake. It's a kind of slow leak and more annoying than anything. I replaced the valve cover gasket a couple of years but it was leaking at the back of the engine instead of the side. It may be the valve cover gasket again.
View 3 RepliesDoing the oil change today and I'd like to know where the oil drain plug is. I have the skid plate off but I'm not 100% sure on the plug location.
View 1 RepliesFluid coming from my 2006 2.0T Passat:
- Oily feel, pink color (transmission fluid)
- Noticed coming from the middle, or perhaps the front part of the engine compartment, just off center on the drivers side
- Only seen after the car sits overnight, in my garage (no dripping seen for hours after parking)
- Leaves a 10in diameter sized slick on the garage floor that I wipe up with a paper towel in the morning
Suspecting a transmission fluid leak, I paid my dealer a visit and was told, "must be another car leaking, because all your fluids are topped off, your cooling system is holding pressure and your engine compartment is clean."
I just got a 2004 passat glx. it's certified pre-owned, but they did not give me a complete manual. (ugh.) I'm trying to figure out the tire pressure. on my old car, there was a label on the driver's side door, but there is no such label on my passat. I read somewhere that the pressure listing is on the inside of the fuel door, but I don't see it there, either. Where can I find it? or What is the proper pressure for a glx, front and back?
View 10 RepliesThe wizards that painted the entire passenger side of my 2003 Passat have left me with a rear door that takes a few handle pumps to open, particularly when it has been a few minutes between tries. What is the cause of this? Is this a hinge issue or something else?
