I have a 2002 VW passat sometimes at a stop light the car seems to just die, stop, the engine just stops, I have checked/ Replaced the fuel filter, air cleaner, I am stuck.

View 5 RepliesThis is my brother's 02 SE. 140k miles. 4cyl. He claims that the car is beginning to idle rough when he is stopped at a stop light and the AC is on. If i replace the spark plugs should that do it? I'm pretty sure it doesn't have spark plug wires cus that's what my dealer parts dept said. Motor mounts were replaced around 70k if that matters. The vibration is directly related to the AC being on.
I am also going to replace the serp. belt because there's a belt squeak when the motor is cold.
I have a 2002 Honda CRV that recently started to fail on me. I'll be driving and usually in front of a red light (when the car is idle), the car will stop. Luckily, the last time it happened, I was able to get the car to start back up again. Also, the car sometimes won't start (ignition won't start) from when it's been parked. It happened multiple times this past week and the mechanic apparently doesn't know what it is. He cleaned my throttle body, how smooth my car runs now (less shaky) but the problem still persists.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2002 passat. it is a v6 with a manual trans (i do not know about gls or anything like that) but the coolant stop light is coming on and if i drive, it runs hotter than normal. i assume it is a thermostat stuck closed but is there anything else i should look at before i make that assumption?
View 2 RepliesMy 02 camry recently started dying at a stop and would not idle above 1000 rpm. I cleaned the throttle body(very dirty) and the car started right up idling at about 1500-2000 rpm i walked away for a minute and came by to drive it and no acceleration would come as well as when i start it up now it just goes back to idle at about 500 rpm.
I am not sure what the problem may be, my air filter box is not on properly I am going back to the car to tighten it down today but i highly doubt it will fix anything. I also read something about the computer needing reset, if i go and unhook the batter for 30 min and hook it back up will the computer reset and possibly fix my acceleration problem?

At idle and while at a stop, the cabin receives a heavy dose of exhaust fumes (nope, not from the auto in front of me - I'm often alone at stop lights/signs)... what is the most likely culprit?
This did not seem to occur until AFTER I had the timing belt (package) replaced...coincidence
ive actually owned 4 volkswagens one of which was a 2002 big turbo gti which made 325whp..... so now i have a 2005 Jetta GLI with about 41k on it. This car has a serious idle problem. Start up is fine and it runs great and hits boost perfect. It has a 6 speed, APR chip intake, forge DV, and DP. When i come to a traffic light and come to a complete stop after about 10 seconds it hiccups and the idle drops to abou 600 and then back up to normal idle. It will also do it if i just leave the car running in neutral it will randomly stutter. I have new spark plugs and new fuel injectors and i only use 93.

View 1 RepliesCar is an automatic 1.8T and has a rough idle when the car is in DRIVE and I am in a full stop. Car also idles rough when in park. Not sure if it is an idle valve stabilizer, or a coilpack? Car does drive well once in motion and does not feel like it lacks power.

View 2 RepliesI just purchased a 2008 passat, 2.0T 6spd manual last night and I noticed today, when sitting at a stop sign it has slight idle issues, (goes up about 200-400rpms) then back down to normal idle. Doesn't seem to be causing any issues, its just pretty annoying, and everyone next to me thinks I'm trying to race them.
View 24 RepliesMy vehicle has started to idle very rough, stuttering and almost dies at stop lights. It hesitates when accelerating, and really shakes and rattles if the AC is turned on. The check engine light and EPC lights are on. And even letting the foot off the brake in drive causes it to jerk along. I am up around 65k miles and have not had too many issues other than a fuel pump getting replaced last year. (the dealer first started replacing and charging me for many other items) I am scared to go back without trying to trouble shoot it myself.
What it could be and if there is anything I can try to correct it myself?
How to stop the ticking coming from my hazard button on my 2002 Passat? I tried pulling the button out itself but I am wondering If I have to pull the entire radio console out. Relay issue maybe?
View 1 RepliesWithin the past few days my towncar has developed a rough idle. When I'm stopped at a light or stop sign it jumps and just plain idles rough. This also happens when I change speeds after either accelerate or decelerate. I travel an average of 80 miles a day total to and from work and my car has about 140,000 miles on it.
View 13 RepliesMy car is a 2010 gti mk6, unitronic stage 2, apr turboback, r8 coilpacks, stock intake with k&n drop in filter. Several months ago, it started throwing CELs, P2096 post catalyst fuel trim system too lean bank1. I cleared it. It kept coming back. Sometimes it threw P2293 fuel pressure regulator 2 performance but I read it via VCDS, it should be P0088 Fuel Rail/System Pressure too high - intermittent. it was accompanied by some high idles at stop light e.g. at constant 900, 1000 or even 1200rpm occasionally. but the car drove well, seemed like nothing wrong.

I changed the front o2 sensor but the problem persisted. Then I thought it was the MAF, I unplugged it, oil consumption improved but high idle and the above P2293 persisted. Recently, the high idle appears more frequently. I now suspect it is the PCV valve. I took off the oil cap this morning, felt some suction, the engine shakes a little and exhaust sounded a little rough but rpm didn't change. Taking off the oil dipstick showed the same. Is it the pcv valve?
I disconnected the battery yesterday and once I connected it back the car felt like it was gonna turn off and ever since when I'm in a stop it starts shaking. Is their anyway to fix the idle time ....
View 7 Replies1994 ford f250 7.5 I have replaced thermostat to a 185 from a 192 new fan clutch dam truck still gets pretty hot at idle or if I am at a stop light and fast It shouldn't run this hot. It gets to 95 degrees never had this problem before only thing I can think of doing Is a radiator flush and clean it really good have checked for obstructions in fins but clean.
View 2 RepliesWithin the last week, while sitting a stop light, the car will very briefly (2 or 3 seconds) shudder and stumble. The RPMs drop a couple of hundred +/- and then it's fine. I have no other symptoms - no power loss, or reduced mileage. I've not experienced this before and it's happened three or four times recently. Is this indicative of an impending failure of some component?
View 3 RepliesAfter starting the car and driving for about 10-15 minutes a few days ago I came to a stop in a parking lot and the car shut off and would not re-start for about 5 minutes. The car started again so I shrugged it off and drove on. About 10 minutes down the road again the oil lamp started to flash and the STOP warning came up. I unfortunately was on a one lane construction zone so I had to limp for a minute to clear it so I could pull over. The car would switch from responding/non-responding to the gas pedal. Finally pulled it off to the side got it towed home and to the mechanic. I haven't heard any news yet but I'm trying to gather some info.
