I have an 02 Passat GLS. Its seems that when uts really cold out and I got to start my car in the morning it lets out a squealing noise. I just had my engine serviced so I doubt its any of the belts but I dont know for certain. Any VW buffs out there who know?

View 12 RepliesRecently I've noticed more that when we first start the hyundai in the morning or after sitting a while and we use the brakes it grinds/ squeals a little and then doesn't after about 2 or 3 miles. Is this something to get checked out or should I spray something on my brakes to lubricate?
My next step that I though of was to get a simple automatic car wash cause it's been a bad winter in Rhode Island and the street shave been flooded with rock salt. I figure that might cause some friction under the pads.
I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra has great difficulty starting first thing in the morning if it has not been driven for a day or two. Once I finally get it started, it runs fine all day. My mechanic has finally traced the problem, after keeping the car over the weekend. He says 3 or the 4 injectors have very tiny leaks and so a few drops of gas are leaking into wherever. They put something in the injectors they thought might solve the problem, but I won't know until I leave it for several days and then need to start it.
View 1 RepliesGot a 2002 7.3 F-350 with 300,000 miles and for the last couple of years I've been getting blue smoke on cold morning start ups and its been gradually getting worse, it clears up after about 30 seconds and all is normal,No loss of performance, Oil consumption is minor, however I hate a vehicle that blue smokes, I'm guessing my issue is valve seals are worn, I was wondering if it is possible to replace the seals while the heads are on the engine? and was also wondering how much time it would take to fix? as i would have to have it professionally done. I know its hard to guess a time frame and everyone is different. Sounds like textbook valve seals to me but is there anything else I should check first?
View 14 RepliesI am having problems with suspension noice in the early mornings going over small obstacles or bumps on the road. I have complained to VW dealer and they changed something in my rear suspension, but the noice is still here. I think it is coming from the front suspension. 2006 Passat. It is usually in the am when i start the car and than goes away later.
I think this is what they did for me, but it did not fix the noice.

My '07 2.0T 6MT has started making a clicking / ticking noise when it is first started in the morning. The car is garaged, so it doesn't get all that cold. The noise seems to be coming from behind the center dash, in the area behind the climate control and radio panels. It doesn't last particularly long (maybe 3 seconds, clicking perhaps 3 times per second or so). It happens whether the radio is on or not, so it's not the CD changer shuffling discs or anything like that. I suspect it has something to do with the Climatronic system's ducting.
I had a Saab that made a noise similar to this, and they had to disassemble the entire dash before they found that the drum that directs air to the various vents was sticking. It ended up costing $1500 in labor to do the job. So I'm looking for a sanity check before I send my dealer on a long, expensive hunt that will likely result in a "no fault found" or "could not duplicate".
Over the last few days my f150 has developed a really annoying squeal that's intermittent. I can never really predict when Ill hear it. Usually I first hear it when I am accelerating to a speed greater than 30 or 40 mph. And it will continue if i keep my foot on the gas or if i slowly hit the brakes. Usually the only way it will stop is if I slow down to under roughly 30 or if i hit the brakes. pretty hard.
But sometimes Ill hear it at various speeds just for a second or two, usually when I am turning or when I am decelerating by taking my foot off the gas and not braking. again its hard to predict. It sounds really similar to a car with squeaky brakes. and just like squeaky brakes, you can hear the noise slow down as the f150 slows down. but again it doesnt only happen when i hit the brakes. I dont know what it is.
My car has been making a weird squeaking noise when I start it up sometimes in the morning. It doesn't happen all the time, and my car has been running great. I drive a 2010 Corolla S. It has about 18,000 miles on it. I just had the Engine Drive Belt Replaced last month. It almost sounds like a belt is causing the noise. I'm going to mention it to the Dealer next time I take it in for a oil change.

View 14 RepliesEvery now and then I have rattling noise when trying to start on a cold start in the morning. Mainly just sounds like a dry start. Battery is good, oil is full (high mileage Valvoline 5W20). Ive tried 5W-30 and it didn't do anything, just made the mpgs about 1 less.
Ive had the car fixed for the main TSB issue with the starter/camshaft so that is not it, which caused a full on grinding noise.
Everyday commuter car, use 87 chevron gas always, and I just used Lucas gas additive the last two fill ups (used normally every 1k miles) and still getting the noise every now and then in the morning. Are there any better injector cleaners out there?
Should I get the fuel injectors fully 3step cleaned? when talking to the service rep at brake-masters, they stated that I should use 91 premium gas to work with dry starts to burn off extra carbon buildup. Wasn't sure if that was a good idea for a 09 corolla S?
93k miles, new spark plugs last week, oil changes every 3k.
I bought a new 2013 Toyota Prius Three. It has 23K mile on it now. I have noticed a weird noise with vibration from engine when I start the car for the first time in the morning. The first 10 or 15 seconds after it is on, there is no problem as soon as the engine wants to turn on (engage) I hear the noise. There is no engine light or triangle alarm on. What is going on?
View 7 RepliesJust got back from the supermarket. Unloaded groceries and my Passat wouldn't start when I went to park it. Turned the key and it just makes a clicking noise - clock and trip odometer reset themselves also. If I turn the key the car just makes a clicking noise and the lights on the dash all flash on and off.
I am going to see if it starts after being jumped in a few minutes.
Other potentially useful info - I was testing a radar detector for work the other day and it has a battery voltage meter. It was reading in the 11.0 - 11.6 volt range. Is this too low - just wondering if the alternator was not supplying a sufficient charge. Not sure how accurate these are. The battery was changed around a year ago so I'm sure it's not the battery. I am assuming starter or alternator.
I have a 2002 SuperCrew 4x4 that makes a squealing sound that starts at 3000 rpm and slowly goes away as it approaches 4000 rpm. It does this when you are in park or in gear. I believe the torque converter is going bad, but just want to make sure before I tear it all down.

View 7 RepliesWhat is this metal on metal noise...you hear it the best around the 7-12 second mark...it is especially loud on cold start in the morning when you put the car in "drive" but don't move the car forward. It also is prevalent on hot days when you park the car outside and just start the car. The sound gets louder when you turn on the a/c during the hot day.

Have a 06 2.0T Passat that decided to start making some kind of god awful squeling noise today.. Sounds like it is come from the drivers side underneath possibly.. Funny thing is when you turn the car off it stays on for a few seconds till it runs out of pressure or something..
Car does have 103k on it if that matters..
All was fine with it until a month or so ago. Now, after the car is first turned on and the AC is turned on, it makes a terrible squealing sound. The moment the AC is turned off it stops. If the AC is left on, it will generally make the noise for a good 20 seconds, stop, and then repeat that a couple more times(and the noise will cease for as long as the car is on).
I popped the hood and took a look (I'm assuming the compressor is on the lower left), and when the AC is off it spins fine. However, when the AC is turned on, the fan starts up, then it visibly stops spinning and really struggles to spin, causing the noise. Do I need a new compressor?
My 2003 Passat 4cyl turbo makes an extremely loud noise whenever I am in reverse...its seems to happen only when I tap the brakes. Several of my neighbors have heard the sound and expressed concern. I have had it at the dealer and they found no problem. I bought this car new in 2003 . The sounds seems to come and go. Maddening....It just happeneded again today. The car is garage kept, has only 31,000 miles on it, and has always been dealer maintained. The car is in pristine shape in and out.
View 2 RepliesThe water pump was the culprit for the noise. So my 2013 gs350 with just over 40k miles started making a clicking and squealing noise during start up and while driving. I took a video of the noise when started cold without the a/c on.
I've already taken it in to the dealer for service but out of curiously, what the problem may be? I'll provide an update after the the dealer completes service.
