2002 Passat W8. I need to replace the Right low beam xenon bulb. Looking for some pics on how to replace this! Or write a detailed description step by step on how to get this sucker changed out.

View 3 RepliesI had the heater core flushed, inspection done, a tie rod end replaced, and both low beams replaced to pass inspection in January. The driver's side low beam stopped working after a week.
When I would hit a bump in the road, it would start working for a while till I hit another bump and then it would go off. Now the driver's side low beam never works.
I could have gone back to the mechanic, but it's an 80 mile round trip(they used to be a lot cheaper than the dealership). Now that the weather is starting to get better, do you think it's a simple problem that I can fix myself? I don't want to waste 80 miles worth of gas just to have them charge me for something that they already charged me to fix. The next time I'm due an oil change I may go there and demand that they fix the light too, but I'm not going to waste 80 miles of gas just for the light.
I Need info on drivers side bulb replacement , its a Xenon bulb and no where online have I found any info on this , only the standard h7 bulb is covered.
The problem I have is the access cover to the bulb cant be removed so I need to know if the bumper and lamps need to be removed?
I've been searching around and have been reading that the easiest way to do it is to remove the front bumper. I'm really hoping this is not the case. I've only taken a quick look at it, but it does seem that some things will need removed. Any quick explanation of the easiest way to get the assembly out of there?

I got extended maintenance warranty to 100k miles, but bulbs, I don't think so. I just noticed today that both were out on low beam, high beam are fine. Should I take car to dealer? or is this something I can do myself?

View 14 RepliesReplaced both bulbs (left and right even though only left was out) with fresh H7s and my left headlight still doesn't work. so i thought, maybe fuses, but manual only references fuse #5 on both left and right fuse boxes as headlight control - but for XENONs only. Since i don't have HIDs, there is no fuse in spot #5 in either fuse box. Any other fuses i should check that i may be overlooking in the manual?

View 3 RepliesI have a 2006 V6 4Motion and one of the HID bulbs has slightly dimmed and is projecting a light purple beam. I called my local dealership and was told this is normal and VW will not replace the bulb under warranty unless it's projecting under a certain candlepower or the unit is completely out. I plan on having the dealership check the bulb, but if it's starting to go bad, I will just replace it.
View 4 RepliesI had a low beam bulb go out a month ago on the driver side. I bought some silvania silverstars to install on both sides. The drivers side went fine but as I installed the passenger side the inside reflector housing came loose, apparently popping off some spring clips inside the headlight housing. The passenger side headlight assembly now pointed towards the ground 10 feet in front of the car... I tried to adjust the screws to bring the light pattern back up. No joy.
Anyway I messed and messed trying to get the reflector housing to fit back on the spring clips. I ended up having to pull the bumper apart and the whole front side of the car to totally remove the headlight assembly. Once I got it out I found these little ball/socket spring clips and was able to put the assembly back together.
Now my issue is I have lost track of the adjustment screws and where the headlights should point. Any formula such as, "park your car 10ft from the garage door on the flat level. The low beam should be 30 inches off the ground on the bottom and the 40 inches at the top. The beam should be 50 inches from the center line of the car" Something like that so that I can get my headlights back to factory settings.
Been about 3 months now trying to figure out my issue in my 2006 passat 2.0t the front passenger low beam bulb keeps going out no matter what kind of bulb I use. They last for a week or two then burn out .When the do burn out they actually blow into pieces the only thing left are the wires in the bulb checked into everything I could think of looked at the plug of where the bulb plugs in checked the wires that connect to it ran as far as I could follow in the engine compartment all the wires seemed fine. And there's no moisture getting into the headlamp assembly.

Do all HID low beam headlights have Xenon in them? Can you buy an HID bulb with no Xenon? Does it matter for my car? I read in some places HID and Xenon go together then I read elsewhere you can buy HID bulbs with no Xenon?
My driver side bi-xenon bulb was out, so I go to replace the bulb and it still doesn't turn on. I scanned my car with my vagcom, and I get this error.

After months of researching and foruming, I made a satisfied decision to upgrade from Halogen to aftermarket HID Bi-Xenon which is really great in color and high visibility at night.
Moreover, behind Halogen headlight there is a 8mn bolt where you will use your hand or 8mn wrench (remove the black plastic cover over bumper to make more room). Twist it Clockwise to lower and Counter Clockwise to raise headlight.
I aimed mine relatively low because my intention is for a great looking light, high visibility and not blind on-coming traffic and yeah I'm so satisfied.
Checked the tech folder, what is the secret to replacing the driver side bulb?

View 5 RepliesTroubleshooting a headlight problem on a 2004 V8 Touareg. Driver's side xenon low beam flickered rapidly and then quit working. I replaced xenon bulb with OEM part, still not working. Swapped in known good bulb from passenger's side, still not working. Took to dealership, who said it needed new ballast, which dealer would be happy to install for a mere $900 in parts and labor. Declined dealer's offer, ordered new replacement OEM ballast (from Chrysler dealer for several hundred less than VW), installed new ballast, still not working. Cleared all fault codes using VAG-COM, still not working. Swapped in known good ballast from passenger's side headlight, still not working. Auto-leveling is still working in both lights. So...not the bulb, not the ballast. Wiring harness, perhaps?
