For some reason the dome light doesn't come on when I open the Drivers door. All the other activate the dome light just fine. Can I assume the switch is in the latching mechanism inside the door? I want to make sure I'm tearing into the correct area before I start and looking for tips as well obviously.
View 1 RepliesI Have a weird problem on my Lexus GS430 06. The car remains indicating that my door on the drivers side is open... especially with the dome light. When i put my interior lighting on "door" then the light on the drivers side remains on.. when i try to lock my car, the car beeps en says that there's stil a door open... and the interior lights start flashing in the car... meaning i had a dead battery the next morning...
Lets start from entering the car, while my dome light is on the "door" position. When i enter the car, en press the start button 1 time, the car ajar light is going on, and the car is beeping that there's a door open... when al my doors ar closed... but when this is happening, and i press "off" on my dome light, then its gone... when i put it back on "door" then it comes back...
Okay, now lets pres the start button again.. then, the car shows on the display that my drivers side door is open. When i put my dome light to "off" again, you see the door closing nice and easy... when i turn it to "door" again you see the door opening again...
Lets take it a step further... When i push the start button again, and thereby starting the car, then on the display, everything is okay, while the dome light, on the drivers side is still burning... When i then open my drivers side door, you'll see it open and close nice and easy on the display. So meaning.. that its not the switch on the door right?
Okay... this is where i'm at so far.... I have switched the switches from the doors from left to right, and it still remains the same... Also i have tried another dome unit from a Lexus GS450h... and its still the same... so thats both not it...
Also I have opened my driver side door panel, en removed all the connectors, en still the same thing....
2001 Passat 1.8T ... The switch is in the correct position and the light comes on when the passenger door is opened. What causes the light to activate? I cannot find a switch anywhere on the door frame. Maybe a magnetic switch in the door?

My Dome lights don't work when you open the door. I can manually turn them on though. Also door ajar light is on. Are these issues caused by the door latch switch? Also have no fog lights I replaced the switch and bulbs. I have a 2003 F250.....
View 2 Replies I have a 2004 F150 Screw Lariat and the problem is this: After turning of the truck, removing key from ignition and opening the door the following happens:
1. Radio stays on (will time out)
2. The power windows still work
3. The interior dome lights stay off
It's as if the door switches have been removed from the circuit. I've tried all doors. There are references to the GEM module but I didn't think there was one in this truck.
For the door switches, when the door is closed, the circuit is open, when the door is open the circuit is closed. I'm not sure what to check next. I checked some of the relays - auxilary delay relay, power relay etc etc. but I would think its a relay issue.
The door open signal is transmitted on the UBP network, no idea about that and they feed into the body control module - not sure where this is.
Is the battery draining if you leave the door open all the way with dome light off?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2000 Excursion 7.3 and having problems right now because my Door Chime and Dome light dont work when the doors are open. But for some odd reason, when the rear door is open, the dome lights work. The 4 doors doesnt work yet the rear door does
The reason i want this is because i want to install an alarm and the door signal is needed and it is suppose to be tapped at the dome/chime so when the door is opened, the alarm will sound so it is not just relying on the Shock sensor.
Did a search and read the manual and I cant seem to turn of the dome lights when I open the doors. For example... Sometimes my daughter falls asleep and I want to open the door at night without the lights coming on... Or If the mosquitoes are going crazy I might want to turn off the light so I don't get killed... I know I can hold the switch to the right and it turns lights on with doors closed, and hold for a second to the left to turn off. But what about opening the door? I know my old 2007 was able to do this function...
View 13 RepliesI just bought a 2006 F250 Lariat. The previous owner did not have a manual for the vehicle. When I open a door the dome light does not come on. Is it supposed to come on in that vehicle? The exterior light above the rear window that illuminates the bed of the truck does come on when a door is opened so it makes me think that there is a wiring issue with the dome light. I can light the dome lamps with the switches on the lamp housing so I know that it is working and the bulbs are good.

Earlier I change passenger side power mirror and same time i release door jamb electric switch to check it but still no light when connector was released...
I'm unable to open my trunk door with the remote, using the key, or with the switch on the drivers side door. I am also pretty sure it is not frozen shut. Will I need to switch out the complete latch assembly or just need to wd-40 something? This is for a 2000 Passat 1.8T Sedan.

View 2 RepliesSo I left my lights on because there was no warning buzzer to tell me so. This happened once before when the driver door would not turn on the dome light. I went for the door switch and it was bent. Bent it back and buzzer worked and dome light worked.This time nothing. Switch is ok. traced wire from switch and it is ok.

Bought a '02 V10 gas 4wd Ex a week ago pretty cheap, and looking to fix a multitude of little issues.
I have been reading about the door ajar warning light issue, and mine alike has door ajar light always on. However, my dome/interior lights do not react to the opening of any doors/rear door hatch.
It's not out of the question that the last owner might have disconnected what he needed to to avoid fixing the problem and still use the truck. Where to start given I can't troubleshoot down to one particular door ajar sensor?
Most times I try and open the drivers door I have to use the unlock switch to open it. There are times when it opens w/o having to do so.

View 4 RepliesI believe that my Driver Door is not recognized as being open at times. Odd things happen. Most notably the Ding for the 'Hey you left your Lights On' does not ding. Though if I shut the Door, Lock with remote, then wait a few seconds, then unlock with remote then open the door, it dings again until I turn off the Lights.
View 5 RepliesMy 04 audi a4 driver door will not open from the inside or outside. The bowden cable is a little loose but it has some tension, but even if that was broken i should still be able to open from the outside. the key fob will arm the alarm also.
And I can hear the door manually locking if i use the key also.i can arm the alarm only if i use the key to lock the door manually. but it will not open. i have to either crawl through the window or from the other side. Other than ripping the door panel apart and opening the door that way? Also the dash display shows the door is shut so that is a plus...
Went to get into my B7 this AM and the outside door handle won't open the car. You pull on the handle, and nothing. It pulls out like normal, but acts as though it's not connected to anything. After getting in the passengers door and crawling over the console , the inside door handle moves maybe an inch, and then stops, feeling like something is jammed. Just made an appointment with the dealer, and he said they've had a few problems with the cables inside the door that controls the handles and latch.
