View 6 RepliesCheck engine light is on and my code reader is giving me a P0000 code that is not listed in the Bentley's list of OBD II codes. My nose is telling me it's emissions related as the exhaust smells too rich. And the car is nearly stalling at idle. Suspect #1 is the MAF but the OBD II code does not support this.

Encountered this check engine problem > 16805 and 16815 < I replaced the 02 sensors, problem solved for 1000 kms, and now the dreaded light is showing its face again ! Possible secondary air system at fault? Cat about to go, or already gone?
View 5 RepliesJust got a check engine light last night. Pulled the code and got a P202a fault. Some digging indicates its the Ad-Blue tank heater module. TDI forum indicates its anywhere from $850 to 1K to fix. Also that it's not covered under any extended warranty (now there's a shock!) The cars going back to VW so that's not happening.
Is this one of the conditions that will cause the car to go into limp mode at some point? I know that happens when the ad-blue runs low. I'm in Florida so the heater isn't really a big deal. I need to use it another couple of months and I don't want to have this thing leave me stranded. If I have to I'll park it.
Check engine light came on after a car wash yesterday. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the car and i recently had an oil change done. i use full synthetic oil too and always get it done on time. Is there a way for me to clear the engine light myself?

Last year I took it to a mechanic who could find nothing wrong with it but reset my check engine light for me and it cost $250. Is this something I can do myself? Was driving home tonight and nearly didn't make it. A few miles down the road I hit the gas hard going up a hill but the Passat kind of lunged a little and lost a lot of power and the engine emblem starting blinking. Coasted down a hill and it stopped and all was well again. From here on I am going careful up hills and not accelerating too fast.
I drive about 30 miles, 10 miles to go and I have to pull a tall hill. Going up this hill the light starts blinking again and I lose most of my power, engine feels like its not hitting on all cylinders and the turbo must be out. Barely make it home going about 40 mph. My check engine light has been on for quite some time, in fact I have had reset about 6-8 times with replacing sensors, air mass meters, etc. Could this be the timing belt?

Where is this O2 sensor? I've replaced O2's on other cars I've had and just want to make sure I replace the right one.
The problem that causes the check engine light to come on cannot be traced. The diagnosis is multi engine misfire. The dealer has checked and recheckedbut problem still exists. The last time my mechanic changed spark plugs he noticed oil on one of the plugs he removed in the rear side of the engine. He replaced the plug with the rest of them. Could it be that one or more of the spark plugs are sucking oil and causes the misfire? If so what could be the cause of that. Do I need a full tuneup? My dealer recommends replacing the cam shaft pulley because it's loose and this may or may not solve the problem. I'm not a mechanic but it appears as if the problem has something to do with the spark plugs sucking oil since the check engine light might go ou for a week or so and then come back on for a while. Lastly is it dangerous to keep driving the car especially on long trips?
