Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Tie Rod End Is Stuck?

today i work on to replace my tie end. i have a 2001 vw passat 1.8. i get the pin bolt out and the top bolt out. then i use the tie rod removal to pull down the ball joint, but it only come down half way and it stuck there. no matter what i do it stuck half way and it seems like there is something in there to stop it from coming out. after many attempt of hammering it down and using cro bar. the tie rod end broke off the ball joint just like the picture below. is there any thing else i missed that why it stuck half down?

I have a 2001 Passat and the blinker is stuck on. It doesn't flash it just stays on when the car is on or off. This has been running down the battery. Also it seems the radio is staying on. I'm not sure if there is something in the car that tells these things to turn off when the car is off and this is broken.

This is a car i am working on. 01 4motion passat. automatic. Tree fell on it. We put a new roof, quarter, door seats. Last night we moved it outside to clean the shop and went to move it back in. Won't shift out of park. Next tried turning ignition on the backing it off a little and cant get to neutral. Check fuses.
Brake light switch has been previously replaced by someone. and it works. Light next to gear selector working. brake lights fine. I have taken the center console out as much as I can. I can't get it completely out. But everything in there seems ok. When I press the brake in I don't hear any click or anything near the selector.

MY friends's 2001 Passat has an issue. Brake lights work fine when the headlight switch is turned off. When she turns the headlight switch ON, her brake lights are stuck on. Left, right, and center. What could this be? Seems like maybe a fuse or brake light switch.

My 2001 S80 Volvo (91,000 miles) has a problem--when I put it in reverse, apply the gas, the car will not move. Sometimes if I shift back to park and then back to reverse, the car moves, but with a clunking sound and it feels as if the car just went over a small rock. At other times it will not move at all. I had a new transmission put in November and a week ago the car would not move out of my garage. A day later when I tried to reverse out of the garage, it did so without any noise or hesitation. The repair shop kept it again for 4 days, ran another bunch of tests and could find nothing. The car drives just fine on the road--still has great acceleration. The problem is driving me nuts--I am afraid to take it out at times as I don't know when it might not reverse. what is wrong with this car?

I have a Hyundai elantra 2002 that is stuck in second gear. I was driving it, I came to a stop sign so I put it in neutral and when I shifted into first i heard a pop. I started driving and when I shifted into second I noticed the shifter was really loose, when I tried shifting into third I couldn't.. it is like there is a brick wall. I can shift from 1st to 2nd but the shifter just moves up and down. Also if I let the clutch up it stalls the car. I was told that my car is stuck in second gear.

Its not my car but my sister in laws. She stopped by our house tonight to pick up her kids and when she put the car in drive it showed both drive and 2nd gear. we tried disconnecting the battery so she could at least get it home (3 min away) but it didn't change anything.
She left with it still in 2nd thinking she could make the short drive without any problems but half way home it shifted down to first and it wasn't even driveable. Everything i have read on the web (which was not really specific to the santa fe) was say that its stuck in safe mode. What could have cause the problem? So far no check engine light has come on.

I have a 2002 petrol, manual, 2.4 Santa Fe
It only had one key when I got it so I ordered a replacement key online -uncoded and uncut. When it arrived I got it cut - looked good. Before getting it coded I thought I would just test the cutting. Opened doors ok so tried it in ignition - fitted and turned engine over - did not start as not coded I presume.
However, when I tried to get the key out again it would not come out. Could this be to do with it's transponder not being coded? Any way I can get it out??

Was pulling a trailer with a large tractor and had switched the 01 7.3 Ex with 300k miles to 4WD with the switch on the dash. All was fine till I tried to switch back to 2WD.
Then it sounded like I hit some rumble strips a few times and then a constant shake/rumble till I switched it back to 4WD Hi and all was fine as far as the rumble strip feel.
Also, I tried to Manual maneuver the hubs and they are unmovable, but that has always been the case since I got it at 140k miles. I rarely use 4wd so this is a whole new arena for me.

I was backing out of the driveway a day ago and my gear got stuck in neutral,can not move the gear shifter and just don't know what to to do. This has never happened before.

2002 Prius, ~165k miles. When I first start the car, the first 30 seconds or 1 minute the "Consumption" display will show no outside temp and the mpg gauge stuck at 100mpg. After warming up (I use that term loosely as its still 70s/80s here), it will operate like normal. Shutting the car off and turning it back on will not bring the issue back - the car will need to sit for a few hours or overnight for the problem to come back. What is going on here?

My wife has a 2006 santa fe 3.5l limited over the winter it started acting up went into limp mode and would only go 20mph so I went and picked up a TP sensor well it went out of limp mode so I never changed the sensor well last month it started doing it again so I changed it out didn't work!!! comes up with 2 codes sometimes p2110 and p2118 but normally its p2110 2 times.
If I hit the break it kinda bogs down and pulsates.i took it to my mechanic since I couldn't figure it out and with advice from a hyundai mech. He changed APS didn't fix it so we changed throttle body with used of course didn't work I checked wires and didn't fined any open circuits what are the chances that i got a bad APS or TPS...

I recently started getting transmission problems with my 2001 elantra.. the car would slam into second gear and the check engine light would come on and it get stuck in 3rd gear.. The codes I am getting are P0720, P0715, P1529. I searched and i found that most people that had this problem replaced the input and the output speed sensor and the problem is fixed.. so i went and i got two new sensors and replaced them i am still have the same exact problem... the car drives good for the first 5mins and then it would slam hard into gear, check engine light comes on the it get stuck in third gear...

2001 Hyundai Elantra 183 miles.
codes- p0720 output speed sensor circuit malfunction, p0500 veh speed sensor a malfunction.
Recent fixes on my 2001 Hyundai Elantra.
A few months ago i had my speed sensor cleaned, and a power steering leak. No problem after that was fixed and cleaned the sensor. Soon after that my water pump went bad and i had that replaced along with 3 new belts. Just last week i had my front driver side replaced with a new wheel bearing and axle.
My Problem then and now.
My problem months ago, my car would be shifting into different gears as it pleased; while driving or sitting at a light i would feel it jump and it felt as if it was stuck into 2nd or 3rd gear as i was driving. My engine light would soon come on after this. To accelerate i feel as if i had to floor my pedal when the shifting or engine light came on. I looked up my codes and they are the same as they are now. I read about same problem and fixed it by just cleaning the speed sensor off. My friend and i did the same thing and it fixed those issues. My problem now is that i just had my axle and wheel bearing fixed (my car moves smoother and quiet) my engine light came on again, it had not been on since, i read the codes and they are my speed sensor same as before but my car has not been shifting as it was in the past. Would this be because the sensor needs to be cleaned again or replaced, or because of my new replacements on my wheel.

So it's dark out and very cold so I have done nothing yet to see if it is easy. However my '03 3.5 acts as if the rear brakes are stuck or the "E" brake is stuck. Put the car in in drive or reverse and you can feel the grab. Same thing in Neutral. Not sure what is really going on. Will get it jacked up in the morning.

I am the proud owner of a 2001 2.7L V6 Santa Fe. His mileage is roughly at 170,000 and I keep up with fluids and minor repairs (except an oil change, oops). Yesterday I was out with my fiance and our German Shepherd, we stopped at a restaurant and while we were inside our dog decided to redecorate the gear shift (PRNDL) with my ice tea. I noticed a problem immediately.
When I started to drive, there on the dash board was the normal "D" with and added "1" as if it were stuck between automatic and sports mode? I attempted to shift it to full sports mode to manually shift; I couldn't get him (the truck) to go above first gear, and nothing happened. I then attempted to fiddle with the gear shift to see if I could some how "knock" it back into automatic but nothing I tried worked.
The truck shifts easily into reverse, there's no abnormal sound coming from the engine, it drives just fine but refuses to go above first gear. I did discover tho that if I shift the engine quickly into neutral while driving and then down shift back to "D", the engine will shift easily but I assume this is not good on my transmission.
D and 1 light are on
Won't shift past first gear
Reverses just fine
Kicking it to neutral then D will shift the engine
Spilled something on the gear shift
I will try to upload a photo of what's going on with my dashboard lights referring to the "D" and "1" light.

I have an 01 and 02 santa f. I took the v6 out of 01-and put in the 02.put new gaskets on engine new timing belt etc. Got engine in and runs like a champ. But the tranny which looks new I assume its been replaced. It starts out in 2 or 3 all the time want shift into od. Reverse works. So I found one plug dangling I couldn't figure out where it went then i found it. It plugged up on top of tranny. Well now it starts out in first and shifts through all the gears. Drove it down the rd shifted fine. Turned around and put in reverse then when i went to drive it jerked real hard. Shifted out fine so I went to floor it to make it kick down and it jerked again. This time it was hung in 3 or drive cause when I pulled into my driveway it was in high gear and u can put it in manual mode and the light only goes to second and d when it acts up like this. So i killed the car started back up and know it will go into first in manual mode and shift out and do fine?

a 2001 4-dr. Saturn sedan. We had a cold rainstorm a few nights ago while I was driving my car and my windows started to fog up. I attempted to move the switch from the vents to the defroster, and the knob stopped -- and stuck -- in mid-turn. After a bit of a struggle, I was finally able to get the switch over to defrost -- but the next day, when I again needed the A/C, the switch would not turn back. I took it to a Saturn mechanic who quoted $1,000 to fix it. I took it to another mechanic who doesn't specialize and he could only quote his labor -- about $200. It is now in the floor vent/defrost position and I can live with that -- but I would like to have it fixed some day. Is this a hopeless cause since Saturns are no longer manufactured?

Disconnect battery and now the CEL, steering wheel & traction control lights are on. Pretty sure its stuck in second gear.
