Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Driver Side Low Beam Is Out
Mar 18, 2008
My driver side low beam is out. I replaced the bulb and it is still out. I got a second new bulb, replaced it, and low beam still does not work. The high beam works, the turn signal, and fog lamps work, just not the low beam. the passenger side is fine. I checked the fuses and they are not burned out.

Drivers side low beam not working. The bulb is fine saying something was tapped in, therefore, can't warranty headlight. Guy said the light gets power just light won't work. Can Vagcom fix this? Dealer wants $125 for inspection plus another $676 for parts and labor.

I had a low beam bulb go out a month ago on the driver side. I bought some silvania silverstars to install on both sides. The drivers side went fine but as I installed the passenger side the inside reflector housing came loose, apparently popping off some spring clips inside the headlight housing. The passenger side headlight assembly now pointed towards the ground 10 feet in front of the car... I tried to adjust the screws to bring the light pattern back up. No joy.
Anyway I messed and messed trying to get the reflector housing to fit back on the spring clips. I ended up having to pull the bumper apart and the whole front side of the car to totally remove the headlight assembly. Once I got it out I found these little ball/socket spring clips and was able to put the assembly back together.
Now my issue is I have lost track of the adjustment screws and where the headlights should point. Any formula such as, "park your car 10ft from the garage door on the flat level. The low beam should be 30 inches off the ground on the bottom and the 40 inches at the top. The beam should be 50 inches from the center line of the car" Something like that so that I can get my headlights back to factory settings.

I need to replace the low beam headlight on the drivers side. Any quick way to do this, and how much and what type is the bulb?

I had the heater core flushed, inspection done, a tie rod end replaced, and both low beams replaced to pass inspection in January. The driver's side low beam stopped working after a week.
When I would hit a bump in the road, it would start working for a while till I hit another bump and then it would go off. Now the driver's side low beam never works.
I could have gone back to the mechanic, but it's an 80 mile round trip(they used to be a lot cheaper than the dealership). Now that the weather is starting to get better, do you think it's a simple problem that I can fix myself? I don't want to waste 80 miles worth of gas just to have them charge me for something that they already charged me to fix. The next time I'm due an oil change I may go there and demand that they fix the light too, but I'm not going to waste 80 miles of gas just for the light.

This morning a dash light informed me a headlight bulb was out. It was my DTR light on the passenger side.
I purchased Sylvania H7 high intensity, installed it and it failed to work properly. Daytime light on only drivers side works.
High Beam on , both lights works.
I checked my manual and it said to check fuse in the 5 slot on the driver side dash/door panel and there actually is no fuse in there. I checked the driver side and there was no fuse there either.
I replaced my driver side bulb last year and it took 5 mins....i am already 4 hours into this!

I have a strange problem. My driver side low beam dont work and my right side high beam dont work. Try different relay (switching), check fuse, bulb etc. Also in my dashboard the right green arrow for the flasher always still on(solid).
If I activate (with the control arm) the right turn flasher the flasher light blink in the dash board and my outside flasher bulb flash but my left high beam also blinking in the same time!

My 2006 Prius (Model NHW20) has a strange headlight problem. On the passenger side, the high beam light is out but the regular headlight works.
On the driver side, the high beam is working but the regular headlight is out.
I don't think it's the fuses but I'm not sure. No amount of interchanging the following fuses changes anything about the issue:
1. 10A H-LP HI RH
2. 10A H-LP HI LH
3. 15A H-LP LO RH
4. 15A H-LP LO LH

My 2006 Prius' driver side (not HID) lowbeam was out, so I bought a replacement bulb. I followed usbseawolf2000's excellent directions on changing a headlamp, but after putting the new bulb in and testing, the lowbeam still does not work.

I have been trying to sort this issue for a while now to no avail. I have had my MKV .:R since February and this problem has existed since I bought it. If the headlight switch is in the "off" position, my lights are off. That is good.
So far, whenever the switch is switched to "auto," the light are ALWAYS on. That doesn't bother me at all, but it seems wrong. Obviously, when it is in the "on: position, they're also on.
Now the problem I have encountered is whenever the lights are on (ie not in the "off" position) the driver's side light is always on the "high" position, even if my brights are not flicked on. The passenger light switches from low to high according to whether I have the brights flicked on or off.

I have a 2005 Yukon Denali XL. The low beam headlight on the driver's side will not work. I replaced the bulb. Still won't come on. We had just driven the truck up the Dalton highway (The rough road seen on Ice Road Truckers). The passenger side low beam works fine, and all the other lights work fine.

My driver side lower beam (projector) will go out after a couple minutes when its turned on. If I flip the switch to off and then on, it turns back on again. Is this a sign of it going out? I am assuming i have the HID version.

I currently have a 2011 Sonata. The drivers side low beam head light does not work. I thought it was the bulb, so I went and purchased a H7 bulb. When I replaced it with a new bulb it still did not work. The high beam works fine. So I thought I bought a bad bulb. I then tried the bulb i bought on the passenger side and low and behold the low beam worked. I then put my old bulb that I thought was bad on the passenger side and it worked.
I swapped every light bulb on the drivers side (the new one and my old ones I already had), and none of the low beams would work. I course I did move the switch to the correct position inside the card and no go. The DayTime running lights work fine, I just cant get the low beam to work on the drivers side.
I tried checking the fuses to see if i had a blown fuse and no luck. I could not find a blown fuse. Is there a fuse somewhere for the low beam light, if so I cannot find it anywhere in any manual that I have searched. I have also heard that it may be the Body Control Module.

My driver side low beam headlight keeps blowing out. I have changed bulb 4 times so far. Why this is happening?

Noticed drivers low beam didn't work. I had spare D2S bulbs, so I got the pain in the ass thing out and changed bulb, and still nothing. Tried the other spare, still nothing. I had a set of brand new ballasts ( from a DDM Tuning kit I never installed in another car) and still nothing. Out comes the volt meter! No power (like 0.23v) to drivers side ballast brown/yellow wires. Pass side reads ~12v. I tried the main headlight harness, and one of the larger pins (one of the middle 4) that has power on pass side, only has that 0.23v on drivers side.... So its not bulb/ballast. What is it? Is there a relay for each side? Fuse? Anything I should look at?

Just bought a 2006 with 80k miles and HID headlights on it and noticed while parking in the garage last night that only the passenger side high beams work. Upon closer inspection and having my fiance flip the beams on and off I could see that the reflector on the drivers side didn't move at all.
This is after i just had a brand new driver side lens, bulb and ballast installed as when i bought it the headlight had a lot of condensation built up inside it. So I'm not really sure if the highbeam was working before this was all replaced because the bulb went out right after i bought it.

2006 Lexus GS300 AWD, My driver side low beam HID turns off at night while driving. Both lights come on, then after driving for about a few mins, the driver side low beam hid will go out. Then, if I quickly turn the lights off, and back on, it comes back on and stays on for another few mins. Repeat. Sometimes it will eventually stay on for the rest of the trip.

Lately I noticed that my headlight beams are crossed between passenger and driver side....
When I start up the car, the headlights move down and up for the initializing... all seems fine... While I backing my car out of the garage, I notice that my light beam start to drift closer to each other as I back out further and then finally crossed... the beam from my passenger headlight ended up on the driver side.... and the beam from my driver headlight ended up on the passenger side.
My AFS lamps are working and initializing when the car turn on.

My driver side low beam is not working. I checked the bulb and it's fine. I also checked the fuse and it's fine. Took it to the dealer and they said could be a few hours of labour to determine where the problem is in the wiring.
