I have an 01 B5 Passat and the interior cloth covering surrounding the front door frames keeps coming off the rubber gasket. I have tried many different types of glue and contact cement but nothing seems to last longer than a few months.
View 3 RepliesThe interior trim pieces that are located where the ceiling intersects with the door are falling out. I tried using Gorilla glue to hold them in place but the heat keeps melting it. If I order the new part from the dealer is the trim easy to install myself?

View 3 RepliesThe interior door handles that is. Not the actual chrome but the black plastic that is made to be held when closing the door. Damn I hate it. Gives the car such a cheap feeling.
View 6 RepliesI noticed this morning that since last night the passengers side red interior door light stays on after the door is shut. The dome light shuts off once the door is closed however the red light does not. I've checked all four door light sensors that actuates the interior lighting but they all function correctly without any resistance or stickiness. The drivers side red interior light functions as it should but the passengers side stays on all the time.
I'm worried the battery will be drained if the light continues to stay on. I'd light to figure out why this is happening. If I choose to remove the bulb will there will be a draw on the battery? And do I have to remove the entire door panel in order to remove the bulb?
Have a problem with a couple electric items in my 2001 Honda CR-V. The interior dome light no longer comes on when I open any of the doors. HOWEVER, when I turn the key off, the dome light DOES come on, stays on for a few seconds or until I open any door. What causes this? Fuse? Circuit board? Short in one of the door sensors?This seemed to have started sometimes after I got it back from a body shop from a minor collision that affected the sheet metal only, did not require major mechanical fixing. The clock in the center of the dash went out... maybe at the same time, perhaps just similar time. Have not been able to confirm if it works when removed from the car.

My passenger side rear door handle does not work. My mechanic fixed it once, said the cable had jumped off the pulley. I figured it can't be that difficult to fix if I can get the door panel off.
2001 Passat 1.8T ... The switch is in the correct position and the light comes on when the passenger door is opened. What causes the light to activate? I cannot find a switch anywhere on the door frame. Maybe a magnetic switch in the door?
View 2 RepliesOn my passat, the right passenger door handle does not work from the inside. I recently had the window replaced on that door because window slipped.. But since i got the window fixed, the handle inside does not work properly. It opens the door, but you really have pull and push the door open. I only found one screw at the bottom of the panel inside to take it off, but the rest of the panel feels pretty tight, and i dont want to break anything either.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 Santa Fe with 327,000+ miles on it (the speedometer doesn't work any longer - another problem).
Last July/Aug (2012) I had the driver window fixed (didn't go up or down) after it was fixed all the interior lights stopped working...dome light, map lights...they will not work automatically by opening a door nor manually. Even the rear hatch light will not turn on. Its not the fuse.
My interior lights work only when I switch them on but not when the door is opened. Is the switch up near the map light easy to service? Any tricks or shortcuts?
View 3 RepliesIt's that horrible sound when you first turn the key. Those few beeps. Or it's the same sound if the car's turned on and you open the driver's door. That beeping sound! I'll just be driving down the street or highway and it just turns on! And it'll stay on!! Sometimes it'll go off if I open and close my door. Sometimes it'll go off if I unlock and lock the doors. When the sound turns on for no reason, the interior lights also come on as if a doors open.

My Coming Home and Leaving Home functions are turned off due to the HID Headlights, but the interior lights worked fine since the HID installation in 11/13. It is a 2013 Passat SE 2.5. Is there a setting in VCDS for the interior light function.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2002 Wagon and when I open the driver's door the interior lights no long go on. They do go on when I open the passenger door. Occasionally the "door open" warning light goes on as well until I open and slam the driver's door several times.
1. Is this likely to be the sensor?
2. How tough is this to replace?
Bought a 2013 FX4 two weeks ago to replace my 94 F150 and got to enjoy it for a whole 10 days before I got rear ended at a stop light. The car hit me doing between 30-40, fast enough to make her airbags go off, and it was hard enought to force the bed to hit the cab. Unfortunately, the damage is more than cosmetic body work. The bottom of the bed is pushed up under the bedliner and the frame is bent in front of where the leaf spring connects. My concern is that the adjuster will want to "fix" the frame and I will be stuck with a lifetime of alignment issues, suspension issues, etc. I know the rear of the frame is not as much an issue as if the front was bent, but I don't know how they could fix it without cutting it and welding in a new piece, and how can I know that the frame is true?
View 14 RepliesSo the black weatherstrip that goes around the door falls off along the bottom of the door (especially the driver's side) like once or twice every year? I've had the dealer replaced brand new ones twice already and re-glue them another 2-3 times but seems like it just wont' hold on to the door. Now I am out of warranty and the weatherstrip just fell off again, try to see if there's any solutions to this.

One of the things wrong with the GX470 is the passenger door exterior molding is unclipped at the bottom. I ordered new clips from eBay and they just came in. Now I just need to figure out how to get the molding off without making the problem worse so I can replace all the clips.
I've noticed on both rear doors, the Lower Moulding (black cover at the bottom of the door) #12 in the attached diagram (Light Blue Circle), is very much separated from the body of the car, it's like bended toward the outside, but it seems to be exactly the same on both sides, I am not sure if this is normal or mine has a defect
Both front doors are OK, not 100% perfectly aligned with the body of the car, but MUCH better than the rear doors....
