So I'm working on a customers car, its a 2001 Passat, there is a buzzing sound that started when she would use her left turn signal, and now the sound wont stop, the only way to make it stop is to turn the car off, turn the blinker on, or the flashers. I'm thinking the Turn signal switch inside the steering area.

Has done this off & on for a few years and am tired of it! Noise is kind of a buzzing that seems to come from the flasher/turn signal relay. It stops buzzing when you turn on a turn signal, activate the flashers, or lift up on the shifter arm(?). Had to drive home yesterday with the flashers on! So I see from researching that it may actually be the multi-funtion switch on the steering column. So I removed that, cleaned up all the contacts, and put it back on and the buzzing did not go away.
I have an 2005 F250 4.2tdi XLT. There is a buzzing sound coming from somewhere near the fuel filter area in the engine bay. This started after changing the fuel filter during a service. Its also difficult to start now. It has to swing for 10 secs before the engine fires. What it could be?

View 9 RepliesAlright, so it could be something very common and in proper operation, but I can't guess what it might be. Whenever I turn my car off, I notice a mechanized buzzing sound coming from the passenger side rear wheel well. Probably no coincidence that the fuel nozzle/inlet sits just above the wheel well. Sound is not very loud, but quite noticeable when standing next to the car in my closed garage. Seems to last for 5 to 10 minutes, then shuts off. BTW, it's a 2012 3.6L SE with Nav.

View 9 RepliesI just got myself a UL 2007 Lexus ES 350 last month.
So here are my constraints:
1. My Emergency Flashers are not working, however the pointers work. (I have checked the fuses and they are fine)
2. My voice recognition seems not to like my accent, when I say "setup" it plays satellite radio (is there a way to play around with the setting for voice recognition ?)
3. When I am on rough roads, I get a lot of feedback on the steering wheel, what should I be worried about here?
4. My Wipers are supposed to be rain sensitive but they don't seem to work. Is there a setting I am missing?
5. My Steering Wheel doesn't go up and down, it only goes front and back. Rather than go up and down, it jerks slightly to the left or right, depending on where. What could be wrong?
The last few days I have been getting this strange sound from the Glove Box / Air-Bag area on the passenger side. It only takes place when the car is running. It happens about every 10 minutes or so. Chattering is the only way to explain it. It is not overly loud but everyone in the car can hear it. Kind of paranoid that it is something up with the air-bag.
View 5 RepliesBought a 2001 F450 a couple of weeks ago. No problems until today. It's always made a strange sound, almost like a low air buzzer on a truck with air brakes whenever the emergency flasher is on.
Today the flashers quit working, but the buzzing sound still comes on when the switch is pressed. Turn & brake lamps still working fine. The truck is always hooked to a trailer, but behavior is the same whether trailer is plugged in or not. Now and then the flashers will activate for a couple of seconds and then right back off.
Also, I have an Aeroforce Interceptor gauge that plugs into the OBD II port. It works just fine until I hit the flasher button. Then the screen will fade in & out. At a loss to explain this one.
For the last two days I've had a very intermittent (tck, tck, tck) sound coming from what sounds like the glove compartment area. It has a rep rate of around three times a second and is very regular. It sounds like a relay to me. It has only lasted less than 20 seconds on each occurrence so don't have time to troubleshoot. I took that area apart and I see two 12volt 25 amp what look like relays just to the right of the glove compartment. I've left that area torn apart so if it happens again I can feel the relays and get it down to one-and or eliminate them as the cause of the noise.
View 1 RepliesI recently noticed some kind of a faint buzzing noise coming from the engine area. basically when the radio is off I can hear some kind of a buzzing noise under medium load, it sound like a loose heat shield or something. I took it to a dealer this morning, did a test drive with the tech who also heard the noise, got a call later on telling me that the noise is normal and is present on the other Tiguans as well.
View 4 RepliesHaving issue with body squeaking ? . I am getting a squeaking sound coming from around the passenger rear door /body area of my 2010 Passat. Car has 10K miles and has been doing this since around 6K miles. Not noticeable unless going over uneven pavement or railroad tracks but it is annoying. Never had any body squeaks from a new car lite this. Have not been to the dealer with this issue yet.
View 6 RepliesJust bought a used 2007 Passat 3.6L with 29K on it. Great car so far. However, I am wondering about a sound that is coming from inside the dash area. Sometimes when I am at idle, especially just after starting the car, I can hear what sounds like movement within the dash. I'm thinking that it must be the climate control system moving louvers, etc? It isn't constant, and really not all that bothersome. My wife at first thought there was a mouse inside! Is this something that others have noticed? Should I bring it in for inspection?
View 8 RepliesI have a '97 AWD and my brake light, turn signals and emergency flasher have stopped working. I've checked all the bulbs, checked all the fuses (under the dash) replaced the flasher just in front of the fuse box...nothing. All the running lights work, and the 3rd brake light above the rear door window works.
View 3 RepliesHyundai Elantra 01 GLS. The main problem is that the airbag light is on and stays on no matter what. This is my girlfriends old car and she tells me that a couple people told her it had something to do with a faulty/corroded connection or something like that... I have been working on this car for about a year and I am finally to the point where I am just ironing out the little kinks. The old engine was bad along with a lot of other stuff, and I swapped it out for a good motor with less miles on it.
I also have recently replaced the alternator and instrument cluster just to name a couple repairs. Now the two things that I want to get settled are the airbag light and the check engine light. The check engine light comes on sometimes and I am almost positive it either needs a new 02 sensor or cat since when it was ran through a code reader those were the two options my mechanic told me it could be. I also hear a gurgling/crackling faint sound coming from the drivers side dashboard/engine area. I am not sure what this is. How can I get the airbag light off ?
Just got stage 2 tune with tbe and bhs pendulum mount. Loving it so far but there is a loud buzzing coming from the dash area every time I hit the gas. There is more vibration in the car now that will probably stir up some rattles but this one is pretty loud!! Doesn't sound like it is in the engine compartment but more like on or in the dash by the radio or climate controls.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2005 Avalon Limited. A couple of weeks ago I put the car in reverse and I started hearing this loud buzzing noise coming from the rear window area. I narrow it down to the rear window sunshade. It also makes this noise when pressing the button to lower the shade and maybe sometimes rising it. I know it has something to do with the relay or motor when the signal is sent to it to lower it, because a lower the shade signal is sent when the car is put into reverse or button is pushed. How to find the motor or relay without taking the rear seat out. Right now I would rather just disconnect it to stop the annoying buzzing noise. Where can I find a service/maintence manual to maybe find out how to disconnect it.
View 14 RepliesI just purchased a 01 Passat and after about a week the directionals started to stick. I noticed that the flasher is incorparated with the 4 way flasher. If I wiggley the flasher or put on the 4 ways on for a brief second the directionals will work agin. Does this sound like a flasher concern or am I looking at bigger problems. I am no good when it comes to electrical. If it is the flasher I just called the local VW dealer and they have them in stock for 35 bucks. Are they hard to replace. Any special tools needed?
View 3 RepliesA months or so ago, after turning off my car I noticed a loud buzzing noise coming from the drivers-side lower firewall area. I cranked the car up and the buzzing stopped immediately. The problem began as intermittent but now within 2 minutes of turning my car the buzzing noise always starts, and runs my battery dead! I have taken my car to 2 local shops that have good reputations and they both began guessing and throwing parts at the problem to no avail my last resort is a dealership but it is 100 miles away and I'm not sure if they would do any better. I feel like this is something simple that an expert should have no problem diagnosing.
I have been searching around the internet and never seem to find someone with the exact same problem - until today!

My 97 F150 4X4 's turn signal flasher buzzes all the time except when brake is depressed or turn signals or hazard signals are active. The flasher is a 5 prong one. What to check?
View 9 RepliesI've got a 2011 F-350, when i'm on the driving over 60 mph i hear this humming or buzzing noise coming from around the dash. It kind of comes and goes depending on the wind direction or if I'm passing a semi. Thinking it may be coming from around the windshield seal.
