MY friends's 2001 Passat has an issue. Brake lights work fine when the headlight switch is turned off. When she turns the headlight switch ON, her brake lights are stuck on. Left, right, and center. What could this be? Seems like maybe a fuse or brake light switch.
View 2 RepliesI have a 99 Passat 1.8T and the left taillight was out. It was the fuse and I replaced it, however when the headlights are on the brake lights and 3d brake light is on as well. Is it a short or something else.
View 3 RepliesJust wondering if it's possible to have the driving lights/fogs to turn on with the headlights when the switch is in AUTO? We prefer to just leave the switch in AUTO mode, but it defeats the purpose of even having the front driving lights as they are never used.
View 3 RepliesI found out last night that all 3 of my brake lights are out. However, my tail lights work, and my turn-signals work. So obviously its not a big wiring deal. I was looking for the brake switch but i don't know where its at because i looked underneath. What fuse is the brake lights cause my manual doesn't have it listed. I drive a 04 Elantra GLS.
View 6 RepliesI locked my 98 passat yesterday with the key , activated the alarm and the horn honked and the lights flashed, but the passenger side turn lights will not go off, I pulled the flasher out and dis connected it but the lights stay on, I am guessing I have a stuck relay in the security system, but where to start looking. the turn signals will not flash with the turn signal switch or the hazard button pushed in, only the drivers side turn signals will work. This is my 1st VW and I am lost.

View 5 RepliesSo We just got this car from a used dealer 10 days ago!!! Already has multiple issues even though it only has 115K miles on it!
1. Brake lights will not turn off! All 3 rear lights stay fully on even with no power unless I disconnect the battery or remove the fuse. Made sure all the doors are closed and the trunk is too. Only way to keep it from killing the battery has been to take the fuse out when I park, then putting it back in when I leave, but wife usually drives it so it needs to be fixed ASAP.
2. AC blew a fuse after 3 days!! They claimed to have replaced the compressor, but I cant understand how a fuse blows on the AC. Is this normal or just a fluke?
3a. There is an on off switch next to the drivers right leg along the center panel to the left of the radio. It's a simple on off switch, but I dont see it anywhere in the manual. Is this a switch to turn on the 4WD?? I can't figure out what it is for.
3b. only the 2 right side window switches also dont work. They work with the drivers main panel. I assume its the switches in the doors that are bad and I need to replace them? Hope that will not be too much drama to find and do.
4. It has a preinstalled video dvd system. It only turns on when the engine is on, or key is in on position, but when I restart the car it has to reboot and reload! Any way to rewire it or jump the fuse / relay so it's always on standby and getting power so it doesn't do this? Which fuse is for this unit??
So I lent my santa fe to a buddy to do some hauling, I got it back yesterday and the turn signals and the brake lights don't work...notta. Regular running lights are working without issue, but no turn signals, no hazards, no brakes. Even the "tick, tick, tick" of the turn signal is gone, it's just dead.
View 1 RepliesSuddenly, while starting the car I see the ABS & Brake warning lights come on for a few seconds and then turn off. After a week of driving it the warning light come on and stay on and now another light comes on that looks like a circle with an exclamation mark in it. Am I in danger of damaging anything if I keep driving it? I called the dealer and explained the problem and he said the problem is a faulty ABS Control Unit.

View 8 RepliesFor some reason my front fog lights in the headlights are stuck on when I turn my headlights on. Even the green light on the euro switch indicating the fog lights are on is lit up. But the euro switch is not pulled out to that position. This just happened a few days ago. I was not messing with or touching any of the wiring. Just happened out of no where.

View 2 RepliesJust picked up a 1999 F-150 XL, 4.2L V6, 5-Speed. Spent half the day rewiring the headlights back to factory as a previous owner did a bunch of wiring that made absolutely no sense. (Foglights or KC lights?). Anyway, works great with the exception that the headlights turn on when I turn the selector to just parking lights. I removed all but the factory wires under the hood. I haven't been behind the dash yet to check the headlight switch and I was hoping to avoid doing so. A fuse or relay that may be causing the issue? I don't have a service manual yet so I haven't been able to identify all the fuses under the hood.

But when i turn the knob off the auto headlights turn on. Any insight on this? when i first got the car everything was working fine. It only started to happen after I replaced the radiator.
View 6 RepliesSo I have a 1.8 5spd wagon which flooded out the comfort control module. I got another CCM but I still have a flashing oil pressure light. a flashing brake warning, a solid ABS light and an airbag light. The tach doesn't work and the MFD only occasionally works. Before I replace the ABS module I would like to eliminate anything else that might be in common with all these systems, is there a hidden fuse anywhere or a relay?
I tried unplugging the ABS module and it didn't change anything, do I need to code the CCM it has the same numbers on it but even after replacement the power windows still don't work even though the door locks, mirrors, and dome light on all but the drivers door ( I assume the micro switch is bad)work now, also the car starts.
Random question, when you are stopped and pull your e-brake do your headlights turn off? I feel like they did in my 20th but I can't recall. If they do, mine isn't working,my e-brake light also does not come on when pulled.

View 13 RepliesI'm wondering if it's possible to turn on the foglights without the headlights on the 2013+ LS460. I understand it's not possible without modification on 2007 - 2012 models, but I'm wondering if anything's changed.
Ideally, I would want to run the foglights as "daytime running lights", preferably without modifications.
My cruise control works just fine when my headlights are off as do my brake lights, but when i turn the lights on the cruise won't engage and the brake lights don't work. I've got 150K on the car so no longer under warranty...
View 1 RepliesI have a 1990 aerostar 4.0 eddie bauer. I cant figure it out but when I turn the head lights on the dash lights go out. with the head lights turned off, the dash lights work just fine. I have changed the headlight switch, and the panel dimmer switch.
